An absolute gem. War propaganda, and no real connection with the Holmes canon, but just as good as a documentary, with a proper plot and some very good acting. Thank you for sharing!
Yes! It adds so much more life to them, even if it's not perfect. Computerization improved colorization so much, and soon AI will improve it so much more! (As much as I think AI should have been studied for 20 years before unleashing it on us all willy nilly! Look at how long Ronald Reagan delayed stem cell research completely, out of 1 small fear that turned out to be nothing!)
Everlasting Holmes and Watson with my favourite pairing of Rathbone and Bruce battling with the ever changing Professor Moriarty. The colouring is admirable and the sentiments are greatly appreciated in the circumstances in which we find ourselves in Britain today.
Even though it's not perfect yet, I like the colorization. Some people call it a travesty, but to me it's a massive improvement. It gives them so much more depth and detail! The faces, clothing and scenery are all brought alive, instead of just being a flat grey nothing. So I say Bravo!

Ich liebe Sherlock Holmes! Und finde Dr. Watson einfach hinreißend in seiner liebenswerten Tolpatschigkeit, und beide zusammen sind unschlagbar! Vielen Dank fürs hochladen!
At times I found "Dr. Watson" a bit too much of an idiot in how he'd talk to himself arguing against Holme's advice or orders. Then, when all would work out and Watson would come out smelling like a rose, Holmes would congratulate him and add that he knew exactly what the "dear boy" would do making the case solved meaning, Holmes knew that Watson would screw up but with Holmes already factoring it into the plan. Then you'd see Watson play along like he already knew..............but, then of course, didn't. I often wondered if Nigel Bruce ever resented playing the fool. But, where is an old English actor gonna get such a part that kept repeating and paying him more and more money.
@@robertpage2023 ..I actually find his character particularly endearing because he seems to relish playing the lovable fool & does such a great job of it
There is something so different about the actors in that time of the 20th Century. Something more natural & decent. Each actor had some kind of an individual look or tone of voice. The charactor actors as a whole except for the one's picked as stars really had something to offer the screen.

Basil Rathbone one of the Great Sherlock Holmes actors. In my view the best Cinematic portrayal of Sherlock Holmes, only slightly bettered by Jeremy Brett on ITV ( British Television ) which was set in the era that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote. But hey if anyone else says Basil Rathbone is the best, I would say it's a good choice.
Classic duo: Basil and Nigel the Bruce as the good guys! But my-me-oh-my super villian in da house! At-tension Lionel At-will. Hope he's the baddie and not the kidnapped scientist. That would be criminal. Atwill always played his villian roles with relish, mustard and ketchup. Spicy is best. These Basil-Nigel Sherlock flicks were me faves. Never failed to deliver. I have always loved the Sherlock Holmes with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. The story is contrived and often corny and it is silly that at the end only Watson and Lestade go after Moriarty and Holmes. But of course one has to keep in mind when this movie was produced. And it does follow the basic theme of the original Sherlock Holmes story as written by Sir Author Conan Doyle in The Dancing Men.
