He died knowing his money was going to his kids. Knowing he had set things straight with his wife. Knowing that the entire world would recognize him as the Kingpin Heisenberg. Returning the recognition that he had always felt robbed of.
Him admitting it like this is one of the most shocking scenes of the show. It’s obviously always been alluded to by fans that his stated motivations for what he did were less than genuine and that he more than likely enjoyed his role as a criminal but never thought his character would admit to it openly like this.

It's really serious, there are a few funny moments, but it's really dark overall after you finish it, (and it has a few sexual scenes fyi). For me personally it's better than stranger things, but I can't tell if you will like it. First season is probably the "lightest", then it only gets more depressing
To be fair, he did actually get the best ending he could. Jesse is safe. His family is safe. He no longer has to suffer with cancer or his own mistakes.

The first season is very easy to get into as the tone is like a dark comedy and the stakes are kinda low and the premise is very simple so its not like you have to learn a lot of info to even follow the plot at first. It then expands and becomes heartbreaking but its never boring, and while i wouldn't call it fun it is certainly satisfying
It’s really sad how the expression “Too little too late” comes into play here. Walt learned from all that time utterly alone and dying that he ruined everything all by himself. Now that he has nothing left to live for, he can give Skyler one last confession that is nothing short of futile if he tried to redeem himself to her while everyone else was already dead.
When Walt said "I am the Danger and the Breaking Bad. After the show ends I need you to put the song The Perfect Girl over my edit and upload it on RUclips." , that's when I realised it was truly one of the moments of the show. Bravo Vince
I'm crying rn I think BB Season 5 is the best show ever made. You've thought everything he's done was for family, but as longer Walter goes in his lawless business,the more it destroyed his whole family. And now he's reached the point when there's no coming back, everyone now hates him and he stopped lying to himself that it was done for the family.

I'd say it's more of an unraveling of an onion than negative character development. You get down to the core of this man. This moment sort of encapsulates the idea that Walter was always kind of a shitty person.
