I was 8 when DOOM3 came out. The original doom was and still is among the greatest games ever made, but it felt old. I won't claim that its the best game ever made, or the most functional, or the most well made game ever made, but this is my favourite game. No competition.
@@DJ_Allanon it's just timeless magic that only id could pull off at the time. If you compare it to the multitude of games that came out afterwards, you can see how the lighting doesn't make a game age as much.
If you slap HD mod on it(the one without any other gameplay change) that makes the game look 3 years younger. Halloween is getting close, this one will be special, given the 20th anniversary.
I love love LOVE Doom 3, which has a great atmosphere, the shotgun is fine if you rush up to enemies and cap them in one shot, and the id Tech 4 engine was totally ahead of its time. I just despise the BFG Edition, which ruined the game. I myself use the OG version with Dhewm3, a great source port which does away with the fiddly console commands and lets you run the game in widescreen. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, OG DOOM 3!
plan to replay soon been kinda jonsing for that unique experience again. People really dont give it a fair shake! Also gonna play through the Phobos mod sometime as well. Also, the Xbox version is how I first experienced it, it really is a fantastic port with nice little additions. The cut back levels is a bummer, but, it does make the game a bit more evenly paced, i feel.
@@ORLY911 with October almost at the corner it's a good time to get have a crack at the game. I played some of Phobos and it's such a well made mod despite it being pretty hard.
I have replayed Doom 3, D3 resurrection of evil, and BFG Edition several times over the years. To be honest I am always shocked at just how good these games were. Doom 3 from 2004 holds up better than Doom 2016.
Doom 3 is my favorite game in the franchise since it was obviously inspired by the original half life
Doom 3 is fantastic!!! My favorite doom game ever!
Had no idea, I literally just got all my achievements on xbox this week
Good job
The original far cry also came out In 2004
@@austinblack7991 I forgot to mention that game. It was pretty fun from what I've remembered.

Fuck I feel old. Was in college when it came out.
Doom 3's full dynamic shadow and lighting still looks stunning after 20 years, love this engine so much❤

BTW, something people often forget: Half-Life 2 didn't have this kind of real-time lighting and shadow until the release of Episode 2 (in 2007).
Doom 3 was and is awesome!
Feliz aniversário 🎂 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great homage! Love your thoughts, and overall energy. 20 years, wow. Cheers!
ps, nice Slayer poster \m/
@@clarenceoveur9497 thanks a lot for the kind words. Yeah Slayer kicks so much ass!
@@restinpiecesproductions4474 does that mean the original doom 3 version will always be around?
@@mdmjr2468 you can find the original on steam for around $10 I think. Last time I checked on eBay the Xbox version is I think roughly the same.
@@restinpiecesproductions4474 i like playing it for free now because they changed it to the bfg version
@@mdmjr2468 I just noticed that. Before OG Doom 3 was separate from the BFG edition of it.
Holy shit, I think we found the next Gmanlives!
@@RealSeekerOfTheTruth thank you that's very kind of you to say that. Gmanlives is a great RUclipsr

2 years ago I 100% this game and oh boy that was Slog. but yeah, there are some parts that are still cool as hell.
Me, Doom 3, halo 2 and ace attorney 3 are all the same age!!

doom 3 was such a good game idk why everyone hates it
"Everyone" is a bit of an exaggeration. Some people hated it, sure, but they were never a majority, even though they'd want you to think that way ;)
Doom 3 is Doom for grown-ups.
