Because I'm diabetic, my insurance covers me seeing a podiatrist every few months. And what's done there isn't too different from a routine hoof trim. The hoof horn on a cow's foot is basically her toe nails. And I get my toe nails trimmed and any calluses ground off with something resembling a Dremel tool. It's not as aggressive as Graemes grinder, but it does a similar job. And while she is doing that, she is checking my feet for sole ulcers. The main difference being that they form under calluses on our feet instead of under our toe nails.

My husband passed away suddenly a few weeks ago. Im busy sorting out all the things that go with that. Today I started to go through his things. Now watching you to distract my brain. There's something about cows and hoof trimming that is quietly calming and you all make me smile.

We lost the matriarch of my husband's side of the family today - His grandmother.
She was 100 and lived a long, loving, and productive life. Her passing was not unexpected as her health had been declining for several months now.
She was surrounded by family at the time so was not alone. Funeral will likely be this coming week.
The heavy rain and firm winds happening at the time of her passing felt rather appropriate.
The sun breaking through the clouds, shortly after her passing, made a double rainbow over the town. Again, rather appropriate.

Just 6 weeks ago I found out I have cancer, and just got out of the hospital yesterday. This Friday I have my 3rd cycle of CHEMO. It’s all new to me and I think I’m still quite out of my head about it. Like a whirlwind.
This is one year after I fought for my left leg. I have had 13 surgeries on my left knee alone and fought over 23 different infections and was at times fighting for my life. It has taken 7years of my life.
I agree that family comes first, I would not have fought as hard as I had and will have to again, for my daughters need me and I need them too. My husband is a wonderful man, he takes care of me with all his might and also works our business doing lawn work and anything else you need. He also works for the 500 union doing stage hand work.
I just love your show and the cows are just so beautiful and fun to watch.

Over the last 18 months I’ve dropped 30 pounds, had a “Widowmaker” heart attack, and got my Cholesterol levels down to a total of less than 100, which NOW my cardiologist tells me is too low!!! Well, I’ll take care of that when I’m at the TT on the Isle of Man in couple weeks! I went the first time in 2015, and I’ve come every year since. Except for the COVID years, of course! I’m 75 years old, retired 8 years ago after 50 years as an aircraft mechanic. Living in North Florida, USA! Enjoy your channel very much, you’ve got a lovely family, and your brothers-in-law are great fun to watch as they are picking up the craft!

That's probably the best advice I recieved when I was expecting my 1st & trust me we needed it, we were exhausted 😩 but he was worth all of it, & so was our 2nd & last. That was 23 & 20 yrs ago but I hear that advice still holds true. Best wishes to all of you. 😊

Since you asked, I'll be 70 in September, I'm originally from Long Island, NY, I've been living in the Ocala, FL area for seven years now. I moved here to help my Mom who was 87 at the time and declared legally blind. About a month ago, now 94, she went into the hospital with a blood clot in her leg. They found a mass on her liver while checking for more clots in her body. It's terminal and she has deteriorated rather quickly and is now bed bound. My sister came down for a few weeks to help and after she went back home we hired a nursing service to help care for her. They are here for three to four hours in the morning and I care for her the rest of the day. It's a big job but we want her in her own home instead of a nursing home where she won't receive the care she needs. After a couple of weeks of hallucinations that started the second day she was in the hospital, we have found the right medications to allow her to sleep at night and control her pain. So it's now in God's hands. Sorry to vent on you, but as I said, you asked and it's actually relieving to get this off of my chest, so thank you. I've been watching your channel for about a year now and enjoy how you explain what you are doing and what causes the problems for cow's hoofs. Keep up the good work.

I retired Friday. My wife, my sons and their partners arranged a surprise BBQ yesterday (Saturday). All five of my gorgeous grandsons were here. So I had everyone I love most under my roof. That's a perfect day for me.

i think this is my first comment on your channel, but I really want to thank you for asking how we're doing. your care for the cows, for your family, and for your community always comes through in your videos. I'm doing alright, doing a mixture of resting and enjoying the sunshine this weekend. my mental health is on a bit of a struggle as I just lost a friend by suicide. But I know the grief will pass, and I thank you for the videos that bring me joy and help make the grief pass more easily. have a wonderful weekend with the jet ski and see you in the next one. 💜

I lost a one of my best friends the same way years ago 💔. If you're anything like I was, the best I can tell you is, no matter how it feels now, there was nothing you could have said or done to prevent it from happening.
It will take a long time, years, to recover and as best as you can, remind yourself over and over that it's OK to grieve. It's natural to be angry with them and it's not disrespectful to their memory to be angry.
Above all else, it will get better. Bit by bit.

In the hospital trying to recover from the flu. Got COVID pnuemonia twice and now I have pulmonary fibrosis. Trying to qualify for the transplant list at UTSW. Your channel has meant the world to me. Hi Graeme, as i was watching this video I'm sitting here at work for the next 12hrs. I work in a boys group home ages 13-17. These boys haven't had a good life some even starting at an early age. But i'm here trying to make a difference in their lives and to show them that yes they're people out here that does care about them and want nothing but the very best for them. Just as you I love my job and what I do. The few years I've been watching you now you have come a very long way and you are a perfect example of someone working hard to achieve everything they want out of life, and as I've said before in other comments I've made here I'm so very proud to be a part of your herd.

Sadly we had a horrific car versus truck accident November 2nd 2018 where we had a Meth fuelled truck driver collided head on with us. So we had a wee shindig last night for my birthday. A mix of friends and support workers (obviously also friends). I've got MS and I need almost 24 hour care. I'm in Australia so I've got the NDIS helping the stay-at-home. I just turned 51 and I have needed care since I was 45. I used to work as an environmental consultant for many years. Now I am an employer of 12 local women who care for me.
A few great things about chronic illness. Attending your own birthday party wearing a beanie and blankets is A-OK. Starting a birthday party at 3 PM so you can get home by 7 PM is totally fine.
To answer your question about my weekend as a viewer: Just secured housing for me and my 2 physically disabled pet cats today after months of couch surfing and stressing in a rental crisis in Queensland, Australia

I run a Community Fridge which gives out free food to those that need it. Although we only open 2 days a week we collect food 6 days a week & Sunday is our day off unless we get a special delivery. Tomorrow we are collecting a whole pallet of dry dog food which will last about 2 weeks. Once that is done we will get a couple of hours off….bliss

I'm with my wife in Benidorm watching my daughter dance at the dinner cabaret show at the Benidorm Palace.
She's been dancing since the age of four and we are so proud of how hard she has worked to dance in one of the Premiere night spots in Europe.
We are really surprised by Benidorm. It's clean, safe, beautiful and not what we expected at all.
My daughters ambition is to dance at The Moulin Rouge, but here is where she is at the moment.
She's 23 and living her dream. As a parent that's all you can ask for!

I've been having a really rough year if I'm honest. I know this was posted 3 weeks ago and you probably won't even read this, but yeah. I just turned 35 last month and I took steps to improve my health - weight loss surgery last September and my health has actually been naff since. I've terrible bad luck. I don't have a lot of money as I can't work due to my ill health and it's so demoralising. I just want to earn my own money and feel like I'm doing something positive in this world. I try to be a good person and I try not to walk past a homeless person or anyone for that matter without smiling and saying hello, cause we're all the same really aren't we. Whether you've money or nothing we all feel the same feelings and want the same things from life. ✌️ x

Congratulations on the 10 lbs. I struggled with obesity all my life. On New Years Eve, of 2019 I had Become so morbidly obese that I couldn't care for myself, not to put too fine a point on it. A friend came by & called 911 & saved my life. I was just over 500 lbs. Now, a huge part of the problem was a massive edema that my doc denied was occurring, insisting I was lying about how little I claimed to eat (I was on a starvation diet, literally). Hospital got 140 lbs of water from my flesh. That still made me, at 6' tall, nearly 400 lbs. I have, since Spring of 2020, lost 132 lbs, with a mere 60 lbs to get to my fighting weight of 200 lbs even.
If interested, I did it by throwing out every bit of worthles, though well intentioned, nutritional advice I'd ever heard from doctors, from teachers, the US government & my mom. Things like: even if you're not hungry, it's bad to skip meals, or the USDA "eating right pyramid, where they claim that the vast majority of calories you shouldn't consume should be carbohydrates, then fruits & Vegetables, then a small amount of protein, & a teeny tiny amount of fat. Also that the human body is designed to burn sugar for fuel. WRONG! The human body is so wonderfully made that absent the fuel it craves, it can adapt to burn sugar. It is made, intended (I believe) to burn fat. Only some fat is bad. The type the US Gvmnt has been foisting on Americans since the early 20th century, "vegetable oil" Canola Oil, cottonseed oil, soybean oil, etc. The only oils I use that are sourced from plants are organic, coconut, olive, avocado. I use rendered animal fat mostly, bacon grease, lard, beef tallow. I get in the neighborhood of 35-45% of my calories from fat. I get 25-35% from protein beef, lamb, fish, chicken. The rest is fruits low in sugar like tomatoes & peppers, berries (technically different from fruit + most of their carbs is fiber) & cruciferous veggies, ie, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, spinach, chard, mustard greens, etc. I eat one meal a day (OMAD) I am never hungry but once each day & though the old me was plagued daily with blood sugar crashes, not a one in my new life. You don't know me, but you might want to try something other than what put the extra pounds there in the 1st place. & it wasn't a lack of labor (exercise). Good luck on your journey. Hardest thing about how I eat? Nobody I know will eat like that. They're all addicted to carbs & especially sugar. Sugar is shite & it matters not whether it's sucrose or fructose. Keep up the great work.
WOW!!! Impressive. I've changed a little in what I eat to try and lose weight. Believe it or not, I started drinking 2% milk instead of skimmed or 1%. I also eat more protein. Still need to fix other eating habits. I'm glad you found what works for you. 🇨🇦

I'm a home health aide in So. Florida, USA. I have 2 lovely clients, 98 yo male & 86 yo female. I care for them 6 days a week, 6 hrs each. Sundays are my only day off. I can't imagine the state I'd be in right now without these videos. The scenery, methodical narration, education, respect for nature and animals - it's all dragged me back here again and again as I nurse the passing of my grandmother. Nothing else I try to watch lets me relax! 😆My family is Canadian, but emigrated from Ireland and Scotland way back when - all well before my time, but seeing something that might have been even a distant piece of her just feels right. No better cure for the days when my brain feels like a snowglobe full of wasps! 🤗
It's another rainy day in West Virginia. Since Mother and Dad passed last year, I'm on my own. Worked till 2 pm, now it's MY weekend! Plans are lots of cups of tea, and perhaps a friend dropping by on Sunday. I was lucky enough to have company last Sunday as well, my first Mother's Day without her. Now, I'm seriously looking at your travel mug lol.
Within 2.5 years, my Wife and I lost my Mom, her Dad, her Mom, her half-sister, and my uncle. I don't know what you believe. The thing that kept us going that it isn't Goodbye but See You Later. Families are Forever, here and the next. May you take comfort that they are together and cheering for you every moment of everyday. Taking care of a new Pitbull that my sister in law couldnt care for. He's a beauty and after a 10 minute introduction he got along with my English Bulldog and Other Pitty. He's already decided that I am his human.

Well i live in eastern washington. Lived here most of my life. Been a farmer for over 74 years. I only have chickens and guinny hens left and the homestead is whittled down to only 10 and the house and outbuildings. We raised, dairy, eggs, beef, Big Boer goats and pigs. Its tough getting old. Your brain is still in your 20s but the bodt is your age ugh😢...we pretty much dont leave the house anymore. But we enjoy going along on your journeys. 15:32 My son (CedarPointJJ) had a double-header today (2 baseball games one after another) and as the volunteer did not show up to do concessions, I reluctantly did it to "feed the masses." My poor diabetic feet are killing me but as we brought in over $200 in sales, it was worth it for the kids and families. It was 85 degrees and the popsicles were a "hot" seller today! lol Go Cardinals! (They won both games!)

I was celebrating my cousin's marriage on the day this video came out. She and her husband have been together for 13 years and they got married officially yesterday. It was a BEAUTIFUL day and the wedding was outside. It was a lovely ceremony and we all are so happy for them.

I’m a flight instructor at a airport with grass runways that’s surrounded by farms. I gave a discovery flight this morning that took us up over said farms, and their cows.

I was able to go back to the gym today after my second Zometa infusion from April. It knocked me on my butt! My two frozen shoulders are improving and I have graduated from PT this week. I am still cancer free and loving life each and everyday!

What small town north of Phoenix? I'm trying to remember what's up there. Camp Verde comes to mind. I lived in AZ for 27 yrs from 6/1977-8/2004. Lived in Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Eloy, and Coolidge. Well done with loosing 10 lb in weight, that's 5x2lb bags of sugar,lol, when I was really young that's how me and my cousin used to stick to our diet, every time we lost 2lb we would always feel the weight in our hands, walk round my house 5 times in every room,then, up the stairs still holding that bag of sugar ,then down the stairs,5 times,as if we were still carrying that 2lb on our bodies somewhere, believe me we certainly knew we had been carrying it,as we lost ever 2lb we started putting each bag extra in a carrier bag, being women we carried just 3 bags of sugar in each bag,done just the stairs 5 times, at the end of that with 6lb in each bag,we certainly knew loosing 12lb was certainly a lot of weight to loose,and we certainly knew we was no longer carrying that on our hips thighs bum etc, it was fantastic every 2lb we lost, we ended up loosing approx 3 and a half stone each, so proud of ourselves,that was yrs ago when I had 2 children,and my cousin 1 child, we were at the time stay at home mum, about early 20,s by the time I was in my 40,s both of us we was about 12andhalf stone, I'm now a pensioner never dieted since lol im now up and down I go from 7st 4lb down to 6st 12,lb. And I absolutely hate it,,, never been thinking in my life,,, old age I reckon, because I'm certainly a good eater, so stick with loosing your weight u,LL get there,good luck,, ,, I love these videos xx❤
