Oh, boy. This thing is pretty bad, though the card scanning is admittedly a neat concept... like amiibo before its time. Concepts can only be so good without execution, and the HyperScan obviously failed in that aspect. Aside from the super-long loading times (I actually enjoyed the wait, only because of what you did with the time), the play controls come off as too loose and not very responsive. Sure, playing games with Marvel characters can work, but if they don't play well, the license just gets lost in the mess. The games really don't break any new ground, either, and there was better software at the time for other, more established platforms. I honestly didn't know about the HyperScan before watching this video, so it's nice that I learned something-- even if it was at the expense and suffering of the Nerd to make it happen.
Yeah, the concept reminds me of that Skylanders game. It's a shame; some of the game looked like somebody put in some time and effort on the assets but hardly anyone will see them.
”Ben 10” tells you to press the ”Jump”-button to jump over a hole, thereby killing your momentum, and rendering you unable to carry out, what it told you to do. The irony is stunning 🤯😆.
I think waiting for the game to scan might be my favorite bits. Because it's a nice way to look back on the series, and I love how much it pisses him off. But its really what you do when you wait for a game to load. You look around the stuff hanging on your wall, the stuff on your dresser/bookshelf. You look at something remember when you got it ect
You know, if they made a new version of the HyperScan today, it would probably be pretty fantastic. Imagine being able to play the Pokemon trading card game, then scanning those cards into HyperScan and playing with those same Pokemon in a video game. This concept was ahead of its time.

I worked at Walmart when this thing came out. I remember seeing it and not understanding the purpose. It was cheap and it was so unpopular, it wasn't locked up with the other gaming systems. Most of the stuff ended up being clearanced for it.

Oh, boy. This thing is pretty bad, though the card scanning is admittedly a neat concept... like amiibo before its time. Concepts can only be so good without execution, and the HyperScan obviously failed in that aspect.
Aside from the super-long loading times (I actually enjoyed the wait, only because of what you did with the time), the play controls come off as too loose and not very responsive. Sure, playing games with Marvel characters can work, but if they don't play well, the license just gets lost in the mess. The games really don't break any new ground, either, and there was better software at the time for other, more established platforms.
I honestly didn't know about the HyperScan before watching this video, so it's nice that I learned something-- even if it was at the expense and suffering of the Nerd to make it happen.
Yeah, the concept reminds me of that Skylanders game. It's a shame; some of the game looked like somebody put in some time and effort on the assets but hardly anyone will see them.

I think waiting for the game to scan might be my favorite bits. Because it's a nice way to look back on the series, and I love how much it pisses him off. But its really what you do when you wait for a game to load. You look around the stuff hanging on your wall, the stuff on your dresser/bookshelf. You look at something remember when you got it ect

You know, if they made a new version of the HyperScan today, it would probably be pretty fantastic. Imagine being able to play the Pokemon trading card game, then scanning those cards into HyperScan and playing with those same Pokemon in a video game. This concept was ahead of its time.

Scanning cards in games still exists to this day. A good example of a game series that does this is well, Dragon Ball Heroes
It’s more common in Japan. Remember Mushiking and Dinosaur King? Also, they made arcade games with scanning cards based on Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Ultraman.

I worked at Walmart when this thing came out. I remember seeing it and not understanding the purpose. It was cheap and it was so unpopular, it wasn't locked up with the other gaming systems. Most of the stuff ended up being clearanced for it.
