  • MGB Workshop covers one of the MGB's common issues with an inaccurate fuel gauge. The defective sending unit float is normally one of the causes of an inaccurate fuel tank reading. The poor quality of many of the new replacement parts is common. These new parts either have problems with fitting, build quality and longevity. In todays video I will replace a fairly new fuel tank sending unit float that failed after less than a year. Todays fuel has a high level of alcohol. Our older cars were not designed to operate with these types of fuels. Fortunately, in this case a replacement is available without the need to replace the entire unit.

Commifornia requires a Smog inspection every 2 years or else I would. The photos where taken at Lover's Point Pacific Grove. Next to where John Denver had his accident in his small airplane.

@@MGB-learning I lived in Pacific Grove for 46 years. Had property there until a few years back.
I was in the car biz in Monterey for many years to include British Motors of Monterey 1968=1972, then
service manager of the Mazda/Honda dealership. Later factory rep for Mazda for Nor Cal Nevada Utah..
Then M-B of No America.. later BMW. Retired in 1990 and built furniture for 20 years and sold to Carmel Bay Co
and around the world. Now doing Auto Logo art..Euro and English mostly. again around the world.
During my years there in PG.. I owned over 100 cars (130 to date to include my 1963 MGB)
I was at the first Laguna Seca Race ( The Pebble Beach Races at Laguna Seca) Nov 1957.
I make and sell a recreation of the original poster of that race to the Laguna Seca Souvenir Store.
My parents were in the restaurant biz to include The Outrigger on Cannery row and a restaurant in Carmel.
My brother lives on Sinex across the street from Asilomar conference grounds.
He currently owns MIATAs and does track days at Laguna Seca.
He has owned many cars to include MGBs. His name is Kevin Knox. Perhaps you know him.
He owned SPARKY's RootBeer and sold at the Farmer's Market on Alvarado as well as around the country.

It is my understanding that smog requirements are dropped after a period of years ?
      I would much rather have 95 HP than 65 : )
