You are right. I have had 67 MGBs. They were the very last of the positive ground MGBs. The good news is that they are easy to convert to negative ground. The Tachometer is the only that needs the wires switched. I have a 68 MGB, the full synchromesh transmission, modern starter and an alternator where great improvements.
you took apart the radio to check for positive to earth? why not just look at the battery and which terminal went to ground? 67 was last year for pos to earth mgb…

😊1968 and up are negative ground. There is a sticker near the hood latch.
