      Alright @@justg94 we could stop with the stereotypes, obviously any person may or may have not washed their hands before eating. Let's skip the nationality part. But let's just trust those people in the video that they did washed their hands.

      We know the importance of handwashing. Even we eat like the unusual thing for other countries but when you get into that vibe of "salo salo" -"get together" (a filipino hospitality) being part of the family or as if you are friends for a long period of time but ure not, there, you will enjoy more what you put in your mouth even what you capture (memories) for that particular point of time.. nothing can beat the hospitality, the positivity of a Filipino crowd.

    The true essence of Kamayan style eating or "boodle fight" is to spend this quality time with your friends and family, bonding over food and sharing. So in a Filipino dinner table, blood relative or not, you ARE part of the family.
    This is Filipino culture.

      Boodle fight is an army thing. No civilian normally does that today or even in the past.
      If you are in the Philippines, you use separate plates/bowls then eat with your hands, not lay out banana leaves.

      No, that's not the best way. The best way to eat is the way you're most comfortable with.

      @@eatsmylifeYT i dont want to make an argument regarding with what you believe. what i said is in general. before you do the hand eating make sure your heart and mind is open. b'coz if it's not, even if you try it you will never like it.... as my experience in life! the best way of eating any food in this world is by using your clean hands.

    I'm married to a filipina, going on for 11 years. She has introduced me to a huge amount of different foods. A few things to remember...
    1. No knives. Spoons and forks only.
    2. Eating with your hands is acceptable, tough to get over after a childhood of "don't eat with your hands"
    3. Most important! Never finish everything on your plate, it says to your host you're not finished or it wasn't enough.

    • @idleeidolon
      @idleeidolon 4 года назад +11

      eating with your hands is acceptable --- BUT --- grandma is there to make sure you washed your hands. otherwise, she'll beat your ass. also, NO DOUBLE DIPPING.

    • @diopatra80
      @diopatra80 4 года назад +23

      not finishing your food part, im not sure with that. i grew up with "finish everything upto the last grain of rice" literally. im from a family of farmers so they instill in us the importance of every grain of rice/food shouldnt be put on waste. besides the host will feel satisfied if they see empty plates coz it means the food is delicious, leftovers means the food is not good enough. but anyway, as i said it dependsn on the family who is hosting i Guess

      Not sure as well with the NOT FINISH YOUR FOOD PART. I grew up with my chinese -fil grand mother, not any grain of the rice on your plate should be left, if one grain falls off from the plate , you must eat irregardless of it’s on the floor.
      Also my mom would tell me, people in Africa doesn’t eat well and why I am wasting such food on the table. Therefore, no leftovers on your plate.
