    Long since overdue, too much bs negative myths told about Filipino food, Filipino food is the bomb diggity, and I as a black person from the southern US am saying this, hopefully this is the beginning of Fiilipinos and Filipino food getting the recognition it deserves. The country gets skipped over by tourists and potential tourists, all because for alot of people hearing in the grapevine that Filipino food is "bad" or "not good" or "not as good a _____ food" I hope the world now learns what they have been missing with PH cuisine.

      I won't say that Filipino food tastes bad, but I will say that I prefer other foods over Filipino food. Some of the Filipino foods aren't even Filipino origin and most Filipino foods, i'd say aren't even what I'd consider healthy, but high carbs and fat.
      I don't know if the chicken skin in the video is meant to be eaten, but with that cooking style, the fat won't really liquify from the meat much and the fat wasn't trimmed away.

      @@Jimmy_Boy_Kalahati not all Filipino food r meat-based dishes. I grew up in the northwestern part of the Philippines & we eat more plant-based dishes & sea food than meat. Metro Manila just loves to eat meat & that's just where most foreigners visit.

      @@Jimmy_Boy_Kalahati the chicken skin in the video is meant to be eaten... filipino food tastes better than most of the american food, you're right it has fats, lots of calories, carbs etc... but who cares if its tastier... its your choice!

    It's unfortunate most Filipino restaurants in the U.S. think they have to mute the spice and flavor and use inferior or inauthentic ingredients to attract non Filipino customers. Kudos to the few places that don't do this.

    • @stanberry4000
      @stanberry4000 11 месяцев назад +37

      True. I believe we should not compromise our own culture based on a foreign perspective. As I commented before, if our food becomes mainstream, then other foreign nationals will notice and will soon trickle down to just a common food offering like Italian. They won't even have our Filipino soul and essence, coz it's all about profit. That's gonna be sooo sad.

    • @kyrlchristiandomeniqueboni484
      @kyrlchristiandomeniqueboni484 11 месяцев назад +9

      most of the time, its because authentic ingredients are hard to find in their place so they will find an alternative. plus it makes the dish more affordable since authentic ingredients are more expensive in their place. also, you need to consider the preference of your costumer, that's how you make your business works.

    • @virtualmanny
      @virtualmanny 11 месяцев назад +5

    • @justarandommeow3296
      @justarandommeow3296 11 месяцев назад +9

      From a business owner perspective, you gotta weigh in the cons and not just the pros. Authentic spices will cost a lot compared to what’s readily available for you abroad and let’s be honest here, Filipino dishes ain’t no Japanese or Korean cuisines (not talking about the taste but the hype) where Western people would be willing to spend a lot of $$$ to taste it. You take that into account and you might as well close your restaurant after 3 months or maximum 1 year. A restaurant needs customers, not just a specific demographic of customers to survive in other countries. I’m a Filipino and I’ve seen a Jollibee branch permanently closed after a year in Japan cause not even Filipinos customers could sustain them. They wanted to be authentic and refused to adhere to what the Japanese are accustomed to and ended up not earning enough. It’s a sad reality.

    • @dayangmarikit6860
      @dayangmarikit6860 11 месяцев назад +7

      @@justarandommeow3296 Ironically Filipino food is tastier than Korean and Japanese food. Japanese food is bland and Korean food has too much sweetness, and it might be spicy, but it generally lacks salt.

      @@geralddiaz4539 No one is trying to force your food on others, but people are definitely trying to force people into the narrative that it isnt good food, and that you shouldnt even give it a try, the narrative taints people's initial judgement because the thought will be planted in their head that the food is "bad" which is a real problem over anyone trying to "force the food on anyone" a dangerous narrative is a stuck in stone narrative that just automatically places Filipino food at the bottom of a list vs other foods, with no honest chance at being compared without that pre conceived narrative even being in place.
      People dont even get to judge the food without automatically knowing that word on the street is, Filipino food is bad, that doesnt even seem realistic; seems like a bunch of haters spun that bs narrative up just to destroy the food in its entirety in peoples minds before they even try it, to bolster other nations they love so much by saying negative stuff about PH food, then hyping the food from their favorite places; I have seen this happen with other things and people outside of food.

    Most of the videos shown in the internet as well here in youtube is mostly about pork,innards, meat, fried and oily stuff. Little did they know that they are mostly occasional foods. In reality, it is more than that. We have lot of soups (tinola fish or chicken), vegies (law-oy soup, pinakbet, ginisa or sauteed vegies), stews (calderata,menudo,mechado and many others), there are healthy foods(foods from unripe jackfruits like ginataang langka,langka salad, banana blossom salads, banana blossom patties) as well.

    Kudos for the well-deserved award, Filipino cuisine has been long overlooked but really just part of the diverse Southeast Asian food cultures. While Thai and Vietnamese cuisines are more popular, others like Filipino and Indonesian are just as delicious and offer a different take and palate. People really miss out on not being exposed more to this region of the world. Filipino cuisine itself is made up of its own regional diversity of flavors, ranging from rich Kapampangan foods to spicy Bicolano, among others.
