I am currently building a center console also .... lot more work than expected but slowly coming along .... just a suggestion wrap the box in tan and your accent trims for the box red and I put a piece of plexiglass between the console and cup holder fascia plate that the sides light up red when truck is on .... thank you
If your voltage isn't staying in the 14v + range, then your amp isn't putting out all that it can give. Get your electrical right and it'll hit a little harder. Also put a Stereo Integrity sql 15 in that box and watch it get louder and sound better. 👍 90% of Skar subs are not spec'd for sealed, even though they give box specs. Learn some about t/s parameters so you can distinguish subs that are made better for sealed and subs built for ported, ect.
I have a 2013 F250 I got for $800 and I was about to purchase 4 skar 8" subs, 4-8" mids and 2 tweeters. I have an old school Audioque 12 subs and now I am thinking if I should do a center console. I did a raptor bedliner on my $1400 Silverado 3500HD and after a year the bed liner still looks great. Last sound system I had was about 2009 when I drove my car into a canal which was really bad for my electronics that all fried.
It is a Skar VXF15 , This is my first sub box build ever, so when doing the kerf bend slot port I ended up messing up as far as port surface area , tuning, etc , I didn’t do it correctly. Net volume is 3.65 So in order to get the box corrected with correct net volume after sub displacement, bracing , I had to end up doing aero port and couldn’t be happier, it’s receiving around 2000watts RMS. All 0 gauge wire as far as electrical if that’s what your asking , 10 gauge speaker wire.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH that’s what’s up man. tbh you could do so much better than that if you’d put a little more detail to it and we both know this. I’D say try building a better one out of some good ol Lowes Maple, Oak or Birch 3/4 plywood, work with what exact room you have to work with because there’s a reason why a lot of people usually go 10” at the biggest for a center console or single to dual 8”s. By the way the box looks like there’s got to be an air leak somewhere along those edges. Lowkey sounds like im bashing but im just giving my pov as a person that’s been in the car audio game for a few years now
Also. You cannot drill the holes bigger for the seat mounts. You will mess the threads up. And not be able to mount seat back. Correct the box. And make it fit right.
Sadly the way the box is designed without detachable pieces and stuff doing a leather vinyl wrap in black would just be too hard For me and my time spent doing it wouldn’t be worth the looks. I’ll be covering most of the bed liner in beauty trim pieces wrapped in ram leather so shouldn’t look too bad. I do agree tho definitley the easy way out, that’s why I’m doing it.. hahah!
I did Raptor on a flat bed I built, what makes the Line X a better choice for you. I will be needing bedliner for an upcoming project and curious if to try it out.
Usually clipping is caused from to much power/juice to the sub/speaker. I’d recommend a JL, RMS on JL subs are extremely high. One JL will make ya teeth rattle if ran correctly.
Upgrade your batteries to AGMs yellow or Blue top optimas . If it smells hott could be clipping? Also a sealed box will sound better with limited air space and handle more power. A crossover tuned to the frequency the sub was designed to play will also help with sound quality.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH yes sir im looking at iron4k_fab to have some done trying to get some done by smoky mountain truck fest but don't know if that will happen.
Go to Wal-Mart and buy Polyfill in the pillow section and fill the inside of the box. It will help with the acoustics of the box and how high is your amp turned up and what is your bass crossover set on?
Run your power wire and rcas separate and don’t get a new alternator just put a capacitor on your amp and if you have a skar amp the thud is more than likely coming in because your subsonic setting is not tuned high enough and if your box was ported it would be way louder Ik I’m a little late to this video but still
Definitely need to turn on xover on amp..low pass and that should clean up prob all of what you are hearing unless you're absolutely killing the sub...what is it pwr rating and what it the rms per of amp?....port tunning is much louder back when I built this stuff I had a 1k Rockford fosgate amp driving 2 15s in a port tuned box and had it professionally metered at 146.3Db at 53Hz....yes It would hurt you
Depends on what kind of sound your looking for. Ported is more for loud , DB… sealed is a cleaner bass which is more for what I’m looking for. Ported would’ve definitely been louder but all preference
Try a capacitor, it should help with quick hits by keeping your power at the correct level. 2 farads should run a 15. It'll save your batteries and alternator in the long run.

Who else has been waiting for this one 😂about time son ❤️
Glad to see you finally made it back to this project. I can’t wait to see what you have coming for the 6.0!
Man I wish I woulda been able to finish mine. It was coming along so good too.

Very nice truck I have done the same box but mys is ported on a 15 mojo 4,000 watts sound very loud maybe you should try a ported ...just and idea....
Here For It 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Thanks for the help man I will Definitley check into all that!!

Add some poly fill inside the box stuff with half a bag to try it it should help
what series skar is it? how many cubic ft is the box? why go from kerfed to aero port? what power and electrical are you running to run the sub?

If your box let’s say was tuned to 33 hz. Should I set my cross over on 33hz??
Dude, start over. That thing is what is called stillborn
Thanks for watching!

Weird you say that cause I’ve already drilled the holes bigger in the seats and made it work no issues.
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH ah, I see. you drilled the holes on the seat, not the ones on the floor. My miss understanding.
Raptor Bed liner? That's the easy way out wrap it in vinyl ... I'm sure you'll do a great job that would look great and professional.... thank you

idk if i’ve just had bad luck with them but to me skar is ass but if it works for you then it works for you
Need a smaller sub in the proper air space. And make sure the amp is set up right .
I would Raptorline it just because of the price of LineX. If you make any mods to it later on down the road you could also re-line it yourself.
Do the line-x on the box, especially for the interior of the truck, the overall look of line x is much nicer in my opinion than raptor liner. 👊🇺🇸

Finallllyyyy
Your problem 100% is the box is not ported. Do a big three upgrade and port the box, you’ll be a lot happier
Yes sir
What happen to your rear frame well overlay? I'm looking to get some done.
Working with new company they’re on the way brother even better & overlays in the front now as well. Stay tuned!
@@JUSTINHAWKSMITH yes sir im looking at iron4k_fab to have some done trying to get some done by smoky mountain truck fest but don't know if that will happen.
I feel it woulda been louder if sub was faced to u

Fill your box with polyester filling. A craft store will have it. A capacitor will help with the voltage drop.
I done this , can’t tell a difference as far as I can tell. Looking into doing an aero port.
Make me one just like that one 🤙🏽$$$

Capacitor or bigger alternator ? Whatcha think?
Bigger alternator for sure
Don’t buy a capacitor. Waste of money. Do it right and upgrade your alternator, “big 3”, and batteries.
Only took you 7 months
