This challenge was a mostly-not-serious-attempt to play a Battlemech in AC6, by using weapons that have clear analogs to ones in Battletech/Mechwarrior, not using extensions, not quick or assault boosting, using boost movement, or really doing anything that a Battlemech couldn't feasibly do. Jump Jets obviously exist though, and what is a Zimmerman if not an LBX-20?
Why did I go this far? Family Heritage. Игры
That was nice but this is Post-Nerfed Balteus that wouldn't work on the original of course.
Actually I have footage of me doing this exact thing against "pre-nerf" Balteus, but bigger than that people are acting like the patch was this dramatic change to the bosses and... No it wasn't really?
twitter.com/Phontomen/status/1699828525421768726
@@PhontomenLP Actually quite impressive, I don't want to know how many times things didn't go in your favor lol. It looks easy the way you have things presented but I can imagine many of these fights took a lot of practice to figure out or to just get lucky.
On the topic of Ballteus nerfs, I agree though, the nerfs to the bosses are greatly exaggerated by the vast majority of people. They act like things like tracking or the amount/frequency of attacks got nerfed and realistically, the only change is how long your staggered for.
Balteus nerf wasn’t even that large. People just got good at the game and have OS tuning now. Cope harder.
@@mindlessmyriad You think Beating Nerfed Balteus with OS tuning is flex but I'm the one coping? XD
@@PhontomenLP Sooo after OS tuning & the nerf literally anybody can do the same thing in under 3 minutes tops not seeing the flex but go off then Mecha-dono

i love the implication in Cataphract that he trained in the simulations against Raven's battle data, expected a normal AC fight, and got this guy who never boosts or dodges anything instead.
Cataphract literally shooting everything except the Atlas trying to anticipate a dodge is hilarious

Honestly... Fairly accurate for how an Atlas fights...
"Yes, yes... Keep shooting at me and screaming. You'll be dead soon enough, so get it all out."
REAL
What is an Atlas? The video doesn't say and there's nothing about it in the description.
@@DerekMoore82 The ATLAS is the big-daddy mech from the Battletech games. It's a slow moving wall of death and destruction that makes you think about how screwed you are as it stomps calmly to you. Think of em like the Titans from Warhammer 40k if you're familiar with those.
Kinda yeah except more reasonably sized by comparison and mass produced. Look just type Atlas Battletech into your search engine of choice and look for the "Sarna" wiki link.
I still preferred the king crab and the banshee personally. The Atlas did have the intimidation factor going for it, as well as an iconic design.
For a brick, he flew pretty good!
Didn't expect to see a Halo 2 reference here.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
Ayyyy Halo 2 reference, nice!
Bosses: We have guns!
Atlas: No, what you have are bullets, and the hope that when your guns are empty I'm no longer standing, because if I am you'll all be dead before you've reloaded.

Damn that's raw.
Nice V for Vendetta reference.
I see the whole game been successfully scouted. Excellent work, Mechwarrior!

Glory to House stiener!!!
Walter: 621, it was suppose to be a scout mission. Why are the targets all dead?
621: Steiner scout squard leave no witness.
they were successfully scouted :D
I’m a bit upset. I had a hard time with sea spider. Now I’m seeing how Atlas just… stood there and atlased it like a boss.
All bosses aren’t really hard per say you just need the right build
Equip the pile bunker when fighting the spider and see funny stuff happen
Me but with IBIS.
Just...That entire fight was made to LOOK easy.
Twin Ducketts with shoulder mounted Zimmermans 🫡
he went and atlased everywhere
Give that AI reaction to inputs would not be that hard on yourself , it's one of those strang things , where moving less or not at all confuses the ai.
More than anything I admire the restraint it takes to overcome your muscle memory and not use boosts or jumps
It’d an admirable handicap. If he did boost while playing this fight would be trivial. Oddly enough this is adding a layer of challenge in this run here.
I think he’s purposely overburdened?
@@Tortle-Man Not necessarily. Doesn't AC do a lot of input scanning to resolve boss actions? I know From has done that in other games, and was especially blatant about input scanning bosses in Elden Ring.
@@ASNS117Zero LOADS of input scanning, most of which I can understand, we get notifications when they shoot big weapons at us, only fair if they know when we fire back too. But the most obvious form of it I noticed was with Ibis's three wave combo, it will adjust where it launches each wave based on you inputs and quick boosts
I nean you can just unbind those buttons
"NOOOOO YOU HAVE TO DODGE EVERY 0.2 NANOSECONDS YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG REEEEEEE"
"haha battletech go brrrrrrr"
There's something awfully scary about the fact that an atlas, something that can literally just only walk really, could effectively wipe out the entire game given the chance lol (with repair kits ofc)
Play the tabletop or megamek if you think an atlas can only walk.
The scariest thing a 100 ton assault can do is charge damage
that sweet MASC @@thatorangeguy3646
sadly this only work for game
if this is like table top or an in universe story, the Atlas would have ate 20 different kind of whoop ass
@@Z-000R0Yeah, to be fair the campaign for AC was made to be beaten through experimenting with builds.
This build in the video would not have worked in PvP where an enemy Mechwarrior/Raven will not hesitate to use the scummiest and cheesiest strats against you.
Yeah, none of the Battletech games have ever really accurately depicted what Battlemechs can *do* in terms of mobility. They're not super mobile like ACs, but ironically enough, they're closer to what ACs are capable of if you get rid of the boosters on an AC than what they are shown to do in the Mechwarrior games.
As an Armored Core And Mech Warrior veteran, this was just too good to scroll past lol. Great work.
Walter: "Wait something is wrong, fallback 621!"
Atlas-621: *Stomp forward*
And this is just an Atlas moving like its Mechwarrior
Imagine if you could move like the books
So, for those who haven’t read the books, how do they move
@azevol216 more humanoid like. Full field of motion, able to kick, punch, sprint, jump, etc.
Little trivia; armored core art design is based off of the Japanese battletech(mechwarrior) art made long ago. Go take a look, you'll find some similar aspects there.
Its primarily based off of Super Dimension Fortress Macross, which battletech bought the designs of for their initial RPG handbook illustrations.
They share the same inspiration so to speak.
@@egoalter1276
@scoutderek3125
Its not that the designs were based on SDF Macross, its that they quite literally have the same design artist, Shoji Kawamori. He is the godfather of mecha design, and has probably made the designs for most mecha IPs you could care to name.
@@MistasandmanSo, Book Atlas is pretty much just Gen 1 Armored Core
Meanwhile 2nd Gen onward ACs are either
Hyper Agile all terrain mech(Gen 2, 3, and 6)
Urban focused small Speed Mech(Gen 5)
Or Aerial focused Fighter that make Gundams look like Snails(Gen 4)
I was surprised that the strider could just leave like that never thought that could happen

Sweet Jesus this is incredible! I can't believe you made it past Balteus, let alone Ayre!

He's overburdened.
5:40 "Did you really think we'd let you walk".
I like how the hardest one that you cant do with this, was the fucking Strider that everyone could do.
"Just as much of a threat, if not more" proceeds to casually walk through a sci-fi kamehameha like broly.
Yeah... I'd say more.
Well if you scout you need to get the data back savely, so an Atlas is the obvious choice since it is more secure on the inside than on the outside.
Ayre: "The waves are intensifying! Raven, get clear!"
621: "No."
Plus, they were miles away
Holy mother of God, it's been done.
I'm just happy we have so much Mech appreciation this year.
On the topic of BattleTech, Mechwarrior 5 had a new DLC drop yesterday too, so you can play the actual Atlas
A 'Mech as powerful as possible, as impenetrable as possible, and as ugly and foreboding as conceivable, so that fear itself will be our ally.
My brain is too smooth for these, "Armored Cores" their attacks just deflect right off it.
Every Boss: "Im unloading EVERYTHING I HAVE!"
Atlas: "I feel a breeze, did someone leave the window open?"
WHY WONT YOU DIE?!!
Ferro-fibrous armor, son!
36 points of armor per ton, you can't hurt me Ibis!
36 points is only for mwo and mw5 and is double the canon amount.
So, this is what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. I know it's not a viable PVP build, but it looks sick AF.
I am both appalled and equally amazed that this was even possible
Giga Chad slow walking toward enemy like a storm approaching.
I also lol hard at the Doven Wolf joke
I was watching this and all I could think was, if a walking armored gun box is so effective why even use a design with boosters. Then came the Strider. There’s always a bigger gun I guess.
He's just walking there! *menancingly!*
All the Gundam references and no one figured that the Balteus unit is like the METEOR unit from Gundam SEED.
all of my gundam buddies told me to not watch gundam seed...
we watched IBO, the OG gundam, zeta, unicorn.. most universal century movies... and that's it
and we saw narrative... i hate narrative now... damn fenex
So what your saying is instead of multiple round the world trips and all that angst, drama and super-mecha ballet the entire plot could have been solved by delivering a liberal application of atlas to the face by the most expedient means possible.
@@lolroflroflcakes Not really. And it isn't "super-mecha".

My favorite moments from the video:
1:10 Ayre: Evasive action Raven! Raven-Atlas: Calmly presses the Alpha Strike button.
1:39 "of course I'm not afraid, I'm in an Atlas!" (Also, the cleaner basically just came over to get a violent petting. They probably should patch that)
4:10 What might have been if the Star League hadn't given up on LAM technology
7:16 OK, I gotta give the Cataphract credit, that's the most damage a boss has been able to do to the "Atlas" so far.
9:37 "And that class, is what target prioritization can do!"
9:55 Casually deflecting railgun shots
12:20 OK, being able to see the other AC's zipping around makes me want a multiplayer Ice Worm fight.
17:06 "Shut up Walter, I'm getting there!" (Also, getting to look around durring the walking really lets you appreciate the level of detail and scale of the game)
18:08 "Really glad they're following OSHA regulations, these hand rails are probably all that's keeping me from slipping off the edge!"
19:30 For those who were wondering Nepenthes are a genus of carnivorus plants, specifically pitcher plants. Most live in Montane/mountain side envorments, though they are more known for the members that live in hot humid lowland areas. They catch prey by luring them in with nectar on the underside of the "lid" of the pitcher, which then slip on the waxy lip of the pitcher itself and fall into the fluid the plant uses to trap and contain it's prey. Most Pitcher plants feed only on insects, but some do feed on small vertebrates like frogs, birds, and small mammals.
24:48 Enforcer barely steals the title of most damage dealt from the Cataphract by 160 points (Cataphract left him with 3212 AP, Enforcer left him with 3052)
30:25 Snailteus gets close to the record, but has to settle for third place with 3324 AP remaining. It's a podium position, but now he's second to three. XD
37:25 And Allmind takes the record with flying colors at 716 AP remaining! Sorry Snailteus, but you didn't make the cut!
38:42 Welp....
Congrats to our impromtue winners: Allmind, Enforcer, and Cataphract! Everyone give them a round of applause!
I would like to note that yes, it's possible some bosses did more damage overall, but I'm not taking the time to calculate that. The fact that they got him to use all three repair kits is impressive enough.
There should be an achievement for doing this.
Walking forward menacingly while unleashing firepower that's capable of leveling a whole damn city is the way I remember how Atlas were back in MW4. Love this video.

Considering an Atlas is only a little bit taller than an AC, I'd think this might be close to accurate!
Only if it's AC-6. ACs are 6-10 meters tall on average. An Atlas is 11-12 so there's a chance it's double the size of an AC if it's one of the earlier versions.
