How To Layer Retinol | My 2023 Night-time Skincare Routine | Dr Sam Bunting

  • Hi guys - I wanted to share my updated 2023 night-time routine and how I layer my go-to retinoid serum (which is one of the questions that I get asked the most!). I have redness-prone skin that breaks out easily if I deviate from a tried-and-tested formula so I now know what really works for me.
    I’ve always been a fan of minimalism. A pared-back yet synergistic routine makes intuitive sense to me, where each step is indispensable and together, they're greater than the sum of their parts.
    As always, thank you so much for watching and for all your support!

    Hi Dr. Sam. I followed your advice adding moisture before Retinol and my skin is much less irritated. THANK YOU!!! There is on thing that I can't find written anywhere. For extra moisture during the day, is it ok to hydrate throughout the day when the skin feels dry or is it important in the beginning when starting to use Retinol to leave the skin feeling dry?

    Anyone have recommendations for reusable pads (for micellar water, toner, etc.) that *don't* suck? All the ones I've tried, and I've tried many, are way too thick, absorb too much product, are rough or abrasive on the skin, etc. I have rosacea so the texture/roughness of the pad really makes all the difference.. Nothing seems to glide as gently over my skin as a real, old fashioned, environmentally-unfriendly, cotton pad!

    • @lisapierce525
      @lisapierce525 2 года назад +1

      If you don’t find reusable ones to suit you might I suggest Intrinsic silken pads from Amazon. They absorb the product but it’s easily applied to the skin so you’re using it and not wasting product. I find I actually use less product. They are thin and so soft & silky. Best of luck! 😊

    Hi Dr. Sam, my tret is in an ointment, Vaseline-like, consistency. Should I be layering my thinner products underneath it? I usually use just niacinamide, snail mucin, and hyaluronic acid every night but I’ve seen people saying to first put your tret and then your skincare. And I’ve also seen others say to put thinner products under your tret

    I don't suppose you could do a video about what to use on a 12 yr old when they start to get a bit spotty. My son is at this stage and it is difficult to know what is OK to use on him at this age. It's only in certain areas - patches of small red spots at the top of the forehead, some small spotty areas on his chest and back, plus the odd bigger whitehead. I've been using some teen breakout pads from Nip + Fab and those pimple patch sticker things to put on bigger spots. Also been spraying him with La Roche-Posay Serozinc. They are helping, but haven't completely cleared everything. I have also ordered the LRP Effaclar Duo to try. Thanks, Emma x

      Pimple patches have saved my 12 year old daughters skin! She’ll get a big pimple somewhere on her face every so often and overnight it sucks all the goo out of it and flattens, sometimes it’s gone the next morning and if it’s a very big one, it’s gone after the 2nd morning. Make sure you’re using something with ceremides and other barrier supportive ingredients so his skin doesn’t get irritated. Sometimes irritated skin is the reason for breakouts-not always but sometimes.
