This fight pissed me off so bad trying to pressure him

Cloud NEVER goes into the air for me
You have to dodge and then hold the attack button, always works for me
Also while he is in the air use triple slash it'll make you go airborn
If you have the sleek saber, use fire bolt blade. It always puts cloud in the air.
Dodge and hold square will put you in the air boss
You dodge on ground then immediately HOLD X and he goes up. If you just press X he throws the air attack only

I found out an easy way to do this. Just use Cloud and hold the attack button immediately after dodging. That will send you into the air then use "firebolt blade" and will almost always initiate "death from above" attack then you just have to manage to dodge at the right time
It's also easily accomplished with Barret. Just keep shooting and use the "overchare" ability with triangle. And the "death from above" attack should come at you soon. And manage to dodge it
I had Cloud perform a Triple Slash as the bird was about to do his special attack.
It felt good to finish it with a Synergy attack from Cloud and Aerith.
This .. this worked for me. Thank you. I stacked up 2 ATBs got the bird down a bit in health and did 2 triple slashes back to back...smh

Annoying one, for sure! My Cloud was completely ignored by the bird, especially while being airborne. Ianaged to do it while using Aerith. Just throw a few magic bolts at him, retreat, repeat this until he does his special attack and dodge. This is what worked for me.
// Just use Tifa's focused strike! Wait for it to do its special move and use this skill at the right time. You can get it from the very first try if done right.

Hey there. There is a way to do it on the ground. Kill off everyone besides cloud. Switch to punisher mode and block. Wait for counter parry and straight away he also counters, and you hit dodge ASAPs. Sometimes, he will do other moves, but it will come.

Ok super easy way. Use triple slash and air dodge.
This is the only thing I dont like about the game so far are the pressure challenges the mechanics dont work reliably enough to make it a necessity.
He is literally never once attacking me in the air and constantly aggroing my teammates. He's never even done that death from above attack. How hurt you gotta be other than dead literally 500 times in an hour??

I can pressure him but I can’t stagger him, how do you stagger him? I assume you pressure first and then hit with focus attacks right? I can’t seem to stagger him tho…
Stagger is just fill the orange bar
Step one: figure out how to manually get airborne
Using Aerith definitely helped, before that any time I dodged it followed the character making the dodge useless. Fuck this bird

What an absolutely stupid thing to put in the game. Some of the shit in this game is specifically made to annoy you I swear to god.
Been trying to do this method for 2 hours now literally a waste of time. Cloud doesn't stay in the air for long when dodging. Literally died about 1000 times doing it too. Such a waste of time
Also, what is a cringier NPC name, “Chadley” from FF7: Rebirth or “Katthew” from Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana 🤔

I’ve bin trying this tactic and it’s not working I started at lvl 20 I’m now lvl 30
Easier way to do it is use Triple Slash. It will help you get in the air and do enough damage to cause the bird to use Death From Above. Just make sure you Dodge it and it should be good

He never use this attack on me lol, I was 30min fighting him and never use it
Set it to “Classic Mode”, put your controller down and let AI fight this bird.
You have to do enough damage quickly without it being staggered for it to use the move. After reading someone else's comment I used the Triple Slash strat. Almost every time I Triple Slash it it almost immediately uses Death From Above afterwards and Triple Slash puts you in the air so you can dodge
