I’m still not loving the tracking / movement of the camera in combat - it’s better with all your suggestions but still doesn’t feel right. After coming off lies of p, wo long, nioh 2 etc I’m a bit disappointed. It feels a bit awkward and clunky to me. :(
The only settings I ever do is the pull the camera back to while I’m walking around and fighting, and I change it to performance mode because I’m a player that likes fluid movement more
I was like you growing up. But as an adult I typically go to the settings right away. I think it may have stemmed from games having R1/R2 as attack buttons in some games which I don't like. I'm old school. Square and triangle have to be my attack buttons

As far as the screen shake setting, does anybody know what triggers that effect, and how strong it is? I'd like to understand it a little better before I decide which way to set it in my game.
I had an issue where i would move forward but camera or character would shift left dont know if it had to do with the camera shake or terrain repositioning but when i turned off the auto camera repositioning it fixed it
I've only really noticed it in cinematic events, like when the ground is shaking or smth, and honestly it's not very strong at all. It's rather subtle as far as I've seen so far (about 5 hrs in).
I also find turning off motion sensor off in the actually gameplay setting the best thing I have ever done. A lot lot of times at default accidentally hitting the L3 would drift my characters away when doing things like Chocobo de Glide.

If you want to turn off the audio comments of Chadley and MAI, you can do so. If you change the setting for their comments to your gamepad and then turn the volume for the gamepad down. This was like the first change I've made. You'll still get their dialogs on the screen.
I typically don’t mess with default settings but I finally said F it let me try some of these and holy hell it makes a difference. Mostly changing the view to 2 or 3 and especially the fixed to free. Thanks!

Awesome that you can swap guard and ability shortcut buttons! Coming from 200-300 hours of granblue this is a godsend. I was forced to use PS5 button swap for the FF7 demo and this is much better

My plan is to have no icons, so im gonna disable world map nav. played the demo this way and its much better if you rly want to get to know a location more. But this makes u use map more often to get some orientation from time to time
Almost just 35 hours remain. So close! Im beyond hyped, and Im just playing the demo today and tomorrow, so I have a little now, as a teaser for tomorrow at midnight. Also I will probably use the tracker option for the open world, then switch to the minimap for smaller confined dungeony places.

After playing GBF, I'm SO glad FF7 Rebirth included the option to change the target switching controls. The camera control being locked to target switching on RS in Granblue Fantasy is one of the most frustrating target-lock systems I've ever encountered, and it tilts me to no end.
Unicorn overlord is so hype... i played through the demo twice.. it's 5 hours BUT menu time doesn't count! So you can actually play for longer if you're into spending time preparing your units and customizing them. I'm honestly more hyped for it than rebirth... but rebirth has still been fun. There's some slog to it (the horrendous "oh you have to walk now" moments), but the battles are fun af. These tips are great man. I didn't know some of these things.

Thanks for showing us some of these tips! I played ff7 remake when it came out and the only ff title i played since was ff16 which is very..very different. Spent way time in the grasslands area than i really wanted too due to trying to adust to the game ✌️
Also, since the very beginning I really noticed how much my control modules were drifting. I knew they were due a new set...but Jeez! The game was almost unplayable haha. Battles were so awkward and the exploreing had the camera 360 spinning on me. Switched them on the edge and the game was what it was meant to play like. Now its almost perfect. Also the white line terrain option is great tbh🎉

My suggestion is no minimap or tracker. It takes minimal getting used to, but keeps your eyes on the amazing environment. It does leave you fearing you might miss a thing here or there, but in this wonderful and massive game, that is fine. I find that letting go and allowing yourself to naturally discover stuff/ miss somethings is refreshing. You can always go back in chapter select 😉
@@petebagwell6666i was literally about to comment the same thing. This is what i used in Remake and made things so much quicker than navigating the menu. I would press L2, turn it off for immersion & then switch between tracker or mini-map when searching an area.
What is the difference between "Attacked Target Correction" and the "Auto-Camera" function that comes with the "Menu Controls & Auto-Camera" setting? Both seem to focus the camera on whomever you are locked onto and attacking.
No, locking on with R3 locks the camera regardless of fixed or free. Free doesn't affect that. This pertains to the lock and unlocked R3 function. It's bad and Fixed makes it so mid combo you cannot switch targets.
So, lock on will still focus your attacks when doing them with neutral inputs. It's also still gonna keep the camera on that enemy, but you have the freedom to choose to attack another foe freely when needed. So it ends up being more of a best of both worlds option, it just requires a little getting used to in terms of how it works

@@ryanolson303 It's pretty much industry standard at this point to allow you to preinstall games on console before they come out. It 1. Helps with server load so everyone doesn't end up with slow downloads because everyones downloading it at the same time and 2. Helps people with slower internet speeds actually play the game on launch
I'm also bad at combat. Can rarely get a perfect block and can't block at all using sephiroth. But just keep on practicing. It would be great to see the button inputs on some vids as I've no idea how they can destroy Phoenix on full might with a single party member. I can't beat it with three of the character's lol
@@piphead dodge a lot, focus on getting good with 3 characters. Cloud, Aerith and Tifa make a deadly trio on the demo. Practicing making use of clouds dodging and follow up attack both dodge and square hold and dodge and square bash, meanwhile micromanage tifa's ATB making sure you spend the 2 bars on unbridled strength to be running "Rise and Fall" whenever possible and practice using Aeriths new radiant ability, you can draw attention away from things with her and then hold Triangle to teleport back to the radiant ward thing. With those 3 abilities being used effectively both to sustain damage and build stagger you shouldn't have a problem with Phoenix. Remember, Phoenix isn't weak to Ice so there's no point making an elemental build. Focus on physical attacks and using all 3 players to build for synergys.
As per the camera distance in the open world i hope Square gives the option to zoom in further , however iam so obssesed with it i had to resort to a workaround ( if u choose to call it that) , iam using the PS5 zoom in feature instead , its a bandaid and the image is a bit cropped because of it but at least i found it better than the default distance. Hope the devs fix it asap it would only cost them a few clicks in the INI file.
Do you have a video talking about the "Issuing commands" setting in the gameplay options menu? Cause god, that setting is like the biggest game changer. Completely shifting how you control your other party members and I swear Ive heard no one talk about it
Hello. Oliver mentioned this on DF but I also tried it last week as I had an early copy. It makes little to no difference. The game does not output native at 4K in any mode... certainly not performance mode. It's upscaled. The lower the output the worse it may look ? I use a full HDMI bandwidth OLED 65" and am sat over two meters away and honestly it's okay in performance mode. I've seen worse. The good is that generally performance is solid. We need to remember that the PS5 is aging hardware,it was older tech when it was launched in terms of GPU/CPU power... People should be grateful and just enjoy the games they buy. Don't let influencers,fake reviews,real reviews decide for you. Gameplay is always the most important aspect of any video game...far too many entitled younger generation folks about who feel they are entitled.. As for 30gps...no thanks. It's terrible on OLED screens natively.
I hope GameStop will do a midnight release for this game. But if not, it’s just another day to wait. Definitely looking forward to playing FFVII Rebirth!

Is there a setting to have a choice to turn off/on mini games, meaning you can bypass them if you want, some of the mini games in the story are so not fun!
Queens blood is fine I love that game so far, but the fort Collins one I think it's called, and other ones just I would like to be able to bypass them fast and win and get on with the story.
Mai spamming on repeat quests was so crazy 😂 Then again, I personally don't mind her talking (and talking... aaaand talking...) on first visits, it's ok cause it's new. I always go full breaks and take an audio book break when that happens.

I also recommend changing the camera speed to 2 (default is 3). It makes the movements a lot smoother looking

I recently changed the combo targeting to free instead of fixed and really is helpful. I can’t wait to use these options again

Did they move the complted assignment guidance? it is not there under gameplay in the full game. Last option we get is motion sensor function

My suggestion is no minimap or tracker. It takes minimal getting used to, but keeps your eyes on the amazing environment. It does leave you fearing you might miss a thing here or there, but in this wonderful and massive game, that is fine. I find that letting go and allowing yourself to naturally discover stuff/ miss somethings is refreshing. You can always go back in chapter select 😉
To each their own, but I like having my minimap and tracker, I suck at directions and having none is going to give me a mild panic 😅
Can't you press L2 to cycle between the minimap the compass and nothing like in the original
@@petebagwell6666i was literally about to comment the same thing. This is what i used in Remake and made things so much quicker than navigating the menu.
I would press L2, turn it off for immersion & then switch between tracker or mini-map when searching an area.
That setting is a game changer. The fights feel smoother and fluid. Highly recommended.
FYI - Changing to "Free" on Combo Targeting doesn't change anything if you LOCK ON to your target (like I expect 99% of people are probably doing).

What is the difference between "Attacked Target Correction" and the "Auto-Camera" function that comes with the "Menu Controls & Auto-Camera" setting? Both seem to focus the camera on whomever you are locked onto and attacking.

With the fixed vs free camera lock, wouldn’t setting it to free just negate the point of locking on in general or am I missing something?
No, locking on with R3 locks the camera regardless of fixed or free. Free doesn't affect that. This pertains to the lock and unlocked R3 function. It's bad and Fixed makes it so mid combo you cannot switch targets.
So, lock on will still focus your attacks when doing them with neutral inputs. It's also still gonna keep the camera on that enemy, but you have the freedom to choose to attack another foe freely when needed. So it ends up being more of a best of both worlds option, it just requires a little getting used to in terms of how it works

@@ryanolson303 It's pretty much industry standard at this point to allow you to preinstall games on console before they come out. It 1. Helps with server load so everyone doesn't end up with slow downloads because everyones downloading it at the same time and 2. Helps people with slower internet speeds actually play the game on launch

I'm also bad at combat. Can rarely get a perfect block and can't block at all using sephiroth. But just keep on practicing. It would be great to see the button inputs on some vids as I've no idea how they can destroy Phoenix on full might with a single party member. I can't beat it with three of the character's lol
@@piphead dodge a lot, focus on getting good with 3 characters. Cloud, Aerith and Tifa make a deadly trio on the demo. Practicing making use of clouds dodging and follow up attack both dodge and square hold and dodge and square bash, meanwhile micromanage tifa's ATB making sure you spend the 2 bars on unbridled strength to be running "Rise and Fall" whenever possible and practice using Aeriths new radiant ability, you can draw attention away from things with her and then hold Triangle to teleport back to the radiant ward thing. With those 3 abilities being used effectively both to sustain damage and build stagger you shouldn't have a problem with Phoenix. Remember, Phoenix isn't weak to Ice so there's no point making an elemental build. Focus on physical attacks and using all 3 players to build for synergys.
Camera distance 3 for both is the biggie. It is still pretty close at max.

As per the camera distance in the open world i hope Square gives the option to zoom in further , however iam so obssesed with it i had to resort to a workaround ( if u choose to call it that) , iam using the PS5 zoom in feature instead , its a bandaid and the image is a bit cropped because of it but at least i found it better than the default distance. Hope the devs fix it asap it would only cost them a few clicks in the INI file.

Do you have a video talking about the "Issuing commands" setting in the gameplay options menu? Cause god, that setting is like the biggest game changer. Completely shifting how you control your other party members and I swear Ive heard no one talk about it
Hello. Oliver mentioned this on DF but I also tried it last week as I had an early copy. It makes little to no difference.
The game does not output native at 4K in any mode... certainly not performance mode. It's upscaled. The lower the output the worse it may look ?
I use a full HDMI bandwidth OLED 65" and am sat over two meters away and honestly it's okay in performance mode. I've seen worse.
The good is that generally performance is solid. We need to remember that the PS5 is aging hardware,it was older tech when it was launched in terms of GPU/CPU power...
People should be grateful and just enjoy the games they buy. Don't let influencers,fake reviews,real reviews decide for you.
Gameplay is always the most important aspect of any video game...far too many entitled younger generation folks about who feel they are entitled..
As for 30gps...no thanks. It's terrible on OLED screens natively.

Is there a setting to have a choice to turn off/on mini games, meaning you can bypass them if you want, some of the mini games in the story are so not fun!

Queens blood is fine I love that game so far, but the fort Collins one I think it's called, and other ones just I would like to be able to bypass them fast and win and get on with the story.
Cuz if you lose you can't go on with the story. And that really bothers me.

Then again, I personally don't mind her talking (and talking... aaaand talking...) on first visits, it's ok cause it's new. I always go full breaks and take an audio book break when that happens.
I hope you'll have an option to turn her off in NG+.
Also would be nice if there was a separate "Mai audio level" in sound options 😅
