What I could find about both nations were that they are each names for cultures. Khalkha is the name of the majority culture in Mongolia, around 80% of the population. Khoshuud in turn is the name of one of the four major Oirat tribes, post 1400s, previously part of the Khorchin tribes, until they joined the coalition against the reunification of the Mongolian military power. Khoshuud was also the name of the khanate situated in the Tibetan plateau, 1642 to 1717.
The Khalkha and Khoshut are Mongol Tribes, both with a deep connection to Tibet. A Khoshut Khan (Güschi) became King of Tibet and the Khalkhas are affiliated with Altan Khan who created the position of the Dalai Lama.
What a funny coincidence I was literally reading about the historical links between Tibet and the various Mongolian tribes like the Khalkh and Khoshuud recently, this is excellent!
I got curious and actually looked it up. While they all have generic Horde Ideas, if you pick them during a specific time frame, 1527 - 1582 for Khalka, you get a 4 4 5 ruler; if you pick Khoshuud during 1600 - 1655 you get a 2 4 5 ruler; and if the year is at least 1634 there's actually another choice in Zunghar, with nothing particularly special to it, I'd have to check the in game color. Also, these are all revolter tags, so you could also Etruria your way into them if you like suffering
khalkha has a nice meaty color. it looks like the meadows are filled with the entrails of your enemies which is exactly what i imagine to countries of the hordes looked like.
0:22 kinda reminds me of that guy from my country (Poland) who first started to sell plots in the afterlife and then went on to secede his real-life plot near Radom from the rest of Poland (which the polish president actually approved, but without giving international recognition) thus establishing the Kabuto Kingdom, later expanding it by unclaimed islands on the American-Canadian border
So, I got 2 god-tier generals recently as Byzantium, I am talking 2-6-2-0 and 3-6-1-1. I had them command two attached armies and a third mercenary army that had a 4-4-2-0 general, totaling a combined 14K army. The Ottomans had to deathstack 37K troops just to barely win the battle. And when I say barely, I mean it was a matter of 1% morale. Had I done better preparations, I might have won that battle. Then again, my allies decided in all their wisdom to let the Ottomans expand.
