I remember in one of my Mongol games AI Theodoro actually managed to take over Crimea, Odessa, the Azov Sea, and a small bit of Georgia. It was very cool, then the Ottomans full annexed them. But I eventually avenged them by sacking Istanbul.
I haven't played as spain once but I've played as Theodoro and found it super fun! I let Crimea attempt to take me over, but I had naval supremacy and blockaded them, giving them 99% warscore, so they could only vassalize me. I then declared independence after getting a bunch of mercs and exceeding force-limit, and was able to full-annex Crimea.
To this day my favorite run was when I got the "Gothic Invasion" achievement. Nothing like creating a purple greco-gothic orthodox Germany to melt away what was left of my brain cells.
Well the ottos leaving the coalition as it declared was... odd. Was it that they didn't want to join the war so declined the call to arms? Whatever it was, definitely the difference between a terrible war and one you could win
I was really confused. It’s a coalition so they can’t not be called in - I saw they declared war a day or two before the coalition fired so I have to assume that was it. Clearly divine intervention.
@@TheSocialStreamers The ottomans had declared war in Crimea some time before the Coalition fired. when it fired, an alert went out to each member of the coalition in alphabetical tag order. It brought in Candar (CND), Crimea (CRI), Gazikumukh (GAZ), Kazan (KAZ), and Nogai (NOG) since there were no conflicts between any of them; but when it got to Ottomans (TUR) it found that they were at war with Crimea and Nogai, and so could not join a coalition alliance with either nation; so the Ottomans were forced out of the coalition.
The reason you got Crimea as a tributary is because they were a tributary of the Great Horde. When you full annexed the Great Horde (or any nation with tributaries for that matter) you got all of their tributaries as your tributaries
Yep, Theodoro is basically Trebizond's crimean provinces that went independent after the Mongol invasions, although they maintained close ties with each other after that.
