      I'm starting to feel this too. It's taken me a while, because it's really a gigantic road block for me, but I get turned off really easy by the "corporate" lingo. A man was hired to help grow my father's business grow who talked all that talk like "growing the brand", "bringing things to the table", he ran our 45 year family business into bankruptcy and we all lost just about everything. he stole from us under the guise of spending what it takes to make more money, ultimately over a 5 year period he flew all over the country taking friends out to eat and driving really nice cars and staying in 5 star hotels every trip, never made one deal and not one meeting with any of the big corporations happened. So when I hear a lot of that chit chat about the Gibson BRAND, it's nauseating. I get it, and I'm really easing up on how Gibson is talked about in this regard because as you stated it, it's refreshing to see how these guys love and care for Gibson without mentioning profit or the bottom line constantly. I have the hopes that the new president, JC, can keep the corporate talk in the board room. Thing is, we all get that it's a business and it needs to show profit but when I watch videos about guitars, amps, pedals, etc. etc, I could care less about all that. It's just not the appropriate time. I've never picked up any of my Gibson Les Paul's and thought "At least the brand is in profitable territory now", I'm running chords and melodies in my head that I want to finish a song with. Long rant, I know. I needed to get that off my chest, your comment spurred a few thoughts.

      @blastofo 2 года назад +7

      @@21sungalute.42 I think he was referring to Cesar, not Mark. The reality is players like their Gibsons to be traditional. @@blastofo "The reality is players like their Gibsons to be traditional," yet, you're praising automatic tuners as useful and claiming they're subtle? People were right to hate automatic tuners.
      Fact is, what holds Gibson back is their attention to tradition. Once the Boomers die, there's not going to be many people buying Gibsons or caring about them considering younger generations tend to lean towards Fender, PRS, and Ernie Ball Music Man or brands like LTD and Schecter who have modernized traditional designs. Also, suing those companies certainly didn't do Gibson any favors in attracting a broader customer base.

    • @blastofo
      @blastofo 2 года назад +1

      @@zachsabbath1 People thought guitars were going to be dead when new wave got big in the beginning of the 80’s. You cant predict the future. Whats popular as far as instruments and brands go, is determined by relevant and popular artists and what gear they use. And the robot tuners were great. They looked stock, and they eliminated the need for multiple guitars for different tunings.

    The routing for the inlays on the 59’ burst at 21:21 tells you everything you need to know about these things. They were not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Amazing when people complain about minute details and errors on modern American and custom shop models when in reality the most coveted guitars that they are based on were full of imperfections, there were no master builders in the 50s and 60s just guys building instruments. Luckily though they seemed to get the most important thing right back then, the sound.

Especially not with a screwdriver. No, trogly. You don't need to take apart every single guitar you handle. Smh. The dude is a joke IMO. Hes a guitar have-er. Not a guitar player.
      You know what I mean. The tuners could be in their original positions with screws in their original positions and hell take it all out, pile it up, and just put anything back anywhere. Dude has zero respect for vintage guitars whatsoever. He just sees them as money making opportunities.

    Cesar is the best thing that’s happened to Gibson in a long time. Having Mark along is such a good fit. Dream jobs. Yes they can be pricey but it is a private company so they are beholding to their parent company and profit is key. I think they’re listening to the consumer as they’re really pushing the more affordable Epiphone line pretty hard in competition with Squire. I have had and have a bunch of Gibson’s (some great and some average but none terrible) and I have to say my 2022 58 Murphy Lab LP in THE best LP I’ve ever played. It’s Wildwood spec’d so even better. Cheers Gibson, I’m a fan for life.

      I feel you. Never been a fan of silver burst. I do quite like the look of the vintage ones that are yellowed/greened a slight bit. But still wouldn’t be my top choice to blow money on. Funny how some guys absolutely LOVE the silver burst. We all have our own tastes I guess.

    This is Awesome! I own 3 gibson guitars, a J-45 natural ~ a Slash Standard ~ and a R7 Gold Top, for some reason watching this video it made me pull out my J-45 and just awe over it in all its beauty..... thanks, this is a great reminder of why I got my guitars and got into guitar in the first place! Thanks Again! - Thomas W.

    I think having Cesar as a new CEO will drive Gibson in the right path.
    A knowledge of guitar nerd with the company as a fantastic tool.
    Sadly, when the Gibson guitar is getting nearer to the right path to the history that made em great, the price for it is getting it further from us, the real fans 🙏💪🤘

    They edited out a couple minutes and reposted it. Anyone know what they cut? I'm not going to watch it all again, but I can see the upcoming Adam Jones USA model is still shown, the Korina V and Explorer and the silver burst acoustic are still there too. There must be something they didn't want shown....

    This is one of the best episodes of the collection I have ever seen, part show and tell, part personal, part business. Cesar loves guitars, and it shows. His love is infections, and will probably lead me to make poor financial decisions 😂😂😂😂😂

    I recently learned never pay any mind to internet gossip. I kept reading and hearing on some vid's right here on YT
    how the new standard series Les Paul's were not all that great. After just listening to my own gut instinct i decided
    to order a 2022 60's standard in Iced Tea finish and all i can say is i am thoroughly impressed with it!
    The fit and finish scores a 10 out of 10 easily. This Les Paul has a stunning flamed maple top for one that was AA graded?
    I judge all electric guitars by how they sound unplugged and this LP does not disappoint. It is very loud and resonant and has great sustain.
    you can feel every chord or note you play.The guitar does not have a single flaw anywhere.
    IMHO for the $2670 i paid it is a outstanding guitar and i am 100% satisfied with this Les Paul.

    I feel extremely fortunate to have my 60th anniversary 59 Les Paul burst, best Les Paul I’ve ever played, also my 1979 Charvel Stratocaster, burst, built in Wayne Charvel’s garage by Wayne and his son Michael, as close to a perfect Strat that I’ve ever played, I have more time on that guitar than any I have, amazing guitar !

    Silver burst is my absolute favorite color as well. I have yet to get a silver burst but it's still my all time favorite. One day the money gods, and the guitar gods will meet at the same time, and I'll get one. Those Silver Burst Les Paul's are by far the best.

    Sabbath is also the reason i play guitar at 52 years old. i found out about Sabbath and Tony Iommi from my dad's record collection in about 1979 or 80. From that point on my Favorite band has been Sabbath. Ive never owned an SG tho. Ive always wanted one, but they real SGs from the 60s and 70s like Tony plays are out of my reach as far as price. Gibson is such an iconic Guitar, and sound, ive just never personally been able to afford a really good one. the best ive ever had is a RR JS V Jackson. which isnt that impressive, but was good to learn on. Tony and Sabbath are by far my favorite heavy metal band of all time. Sabbotage is my Favorite album....i love that SG sound...its go damn beautiful.

    Wow, hopefully one day I'll have 5 or 6 Gibsons. Until then I am very happy with my single 2001 Les Paul Standard. Those 50's in his collection were unreal.
