Another Englishman here, first heard this watching the footage of the Hibs fans after the cup final, it was the best rendition of a song by football fans I’d ever seen, I had goosebumps. Have looked up the song since watching the Proclaimers footage,an absolutely beautiful song, which I admit brings tears to my eyes. Doesn’t matter what nationality you are this is a song for everyone.
Your story is my story! A Scot friend of mine played me the video of that footballing occasion and when they sang this at th3 end , ha£ me in tears. Pure emotion dragged up from deep inside of me. I couldn’t and can’t explain it even after all these years.
I might not be Scottish, (I'm Venezuelan) but I LOVE this song! I heard it for first time in Peru Lima when the Scottish national team came for the match Peru vs Scotland. I went to an Irish bar and they were there and played this beautiful song! I even made some Scottish friends! Sending love from Venezuela!
Thanks a lot, since I love English language i would even love to visit Scottland someday and learn more of the culture over there. Sending love from this Venezuelan man!
Every time I hear this song I cry. I'm an old man well into my 60s and I've spent my life down here in the RBK&C, London. Yet every ruddy time I hear this beautiful, enchanting song, it touches my very soul and allows me to weep. Something I never did until this wonderful song came along. Thank you lads for writing such a lovely ode. HH
Just a really lovely, Scottish song, sung brilliantly by the Hibees fans!! But don't have to be a Hibees fan to love this song!! I'm from Dundee, just up the road from Leith, and a Dee till I die!! But all nationalities around the world will, and do, love this lovely Scottish balad!! So proud to come from this little country they call Scotland!!
Played at my brother’s funeral. He was a huge fan of the Proclaimers and this was his favourite song. Tears streaming but happy tears for the times we had together.❤️
Hibs fans must feel blessed , having One of the best Scottish bands and song ever as their anthem. I'm a Celtic fan and for sentimental reasons, my father was dying and couldn't get back to Scotland till the next day so spent the night before listening to the album in tears. I love it.
@@Fowksee Exactly man, I'm an Irish Celtic fan and saw the Proclaimers in Belfast about a year ago. When this started playing, I couldn't help but sing along. Its empowering, uplifting, emotional, almost transcendent. It may be a Hibs song, okay, but music crosses all types of borders and rivalries.
Spot on, this is the 5th time I have listened tonight, my dad loved this song, i wanted it played at his funeral, my family didn't know it, so i want it played twice when i am carried in and out in dads honour
I’ve just discovered this wonderfully beautiful song!! It touches the deepest part of my heart!!! I can’t play it in repeat enough!!! Thank you from Kentucky in the USA. 🇺🇸

Canadian here! BBC Children in Need album introduced me to this song... Thank you David Tennant for introducing me to this song and thank you The Proclaimers for a beautiful song that changed my life.
Born in Leith in bowling green St (no longer there) in 1942 and lived there for 14yrs then moved to Manchester. My grandparents lived in Constitution Street. My dad went to Leith academy and my granddad worked in the offices at Leith docks.
Walking across an empty York racecourse a year or so ago the staff were testing the public address system / tannoy. They played this wonderful piece of music. I was there being carried away on a beautiful wave of Sunshine on Leith. A lifelong memory.
This is glorious, the emotion felt by the whole crowd. The lyrics are so simple but so strong because it just speaks truth. That violin, what can I say.......except BRAVO love Rose xx
These words in lockdown mean everything with a new born granddaughter out in Belgium I haven't met yet. Amazing lyrics. Amazing musical talent. Thank you Proclaimers. Meeting the granddaughter soon!
"Your beauty, and kindness, the tears cleared my blindness"...possibly one of the most beautiful lyrics ever written. It tells of love, loss, and salvation in nine simple words.. moves me to tears when I hear it.
Totally agree after all those years of waiting 2016 cup win crowd were incredible and I am not even Scottish . Worth a million wins by Manupool ‘pay pee view ‘fans.’ True football passion.
This is the first time I've seen the song performed live, but I've played it dozens of times from the album. I didn't expect to be this moved by it. Always a wonderful song, but feeling the passion of the crowd singing along to the whole of it is intense! Deepest thanks and greetings from the US.
This is one of my lovely sister's favourite songs and she took me to see The Proclaimers as a surprise. We are both Edinburgh girls and although we left Scotland when we were children to follow my father's career, it's still home to me and I'm going back someday. x
I'm from Indonesia and I love The Proclaimers so much. Especially this song, it always relaxes me. I love the melody, the lyrics, the arrangement, and how people always sing along with it.
I lost my best friend last year, he was a Celtic fan and 5 of us wore the shirts to his funeral to say thank you for your life. You were tough Scotty and I miss you brother, I listen to this song and think of you.

it’s impossible to me not being emotional with a song like this. Feeling saved and loved by someone else, when you were destroyed before, is the greatest feeling of love that you can get. But, lose that person for good, when she dies... it's worst, even more than you can imagine. I hear this song, and i remember her with love, but with sorrow too.
