So glad to see you take both versions out for a proper test. I love my Air65 and I was wondering if I got the right version, your video pretty much confirmed that I did.
Great review, as always. Still gotta mark flying with you off my bucket list. Mattybluntz, Bot, Zoe, and Ciotti were all at CC and I got to fly with each of them. You and Steel are the last on my list 😂 come fly with us!!! 😢 you’ve flown with half our crew like Flyhigh and Kong.. would definitely be a day if remember since you and JC from project blue falcon were the reasons I got into this crazy hobby.
I think I'm one of the only people that watches reviews AFTER I buy things. Glad I got the freestyle version. Also going to get some 1210 two blade props just to play around and see what kind of changes in flight time/performance i get. I usually build all my drones but it's soooo much cheaper to get a BNF and pay shipping once. Good video Joshua.
And it turns out that was me speaking too soon. They didn't list it on the BetaFPV page, at least not where I could find it, but on a dealer page I found that the ELRS uses an ESP8285. So, it's supported by newer ELRS. They should make that a bit clearer.

If the minimum camera angle is still too high you can reduce it further by undoing the rear FC screw and leaving the rear of the canopy loose (replace the screw to secure the FC though). The canopy is still stable enough for the camera, but its angle is significantly less.

Great review JB the most detailed review I've seen on the BetaFPV air 65mm quads. Man when you did that Matty flip that set you up perfectly to go into a trippy spin and the Air 65mm are great for doing trippy spins. You got this. Cheers
It's wild that as light as this is the new NBD race whoop is nearly a full gram lighter. Stuff is getting so small we're going to need to start getting into micro soldering to work on them.
@joshua bardwell that kind of camera mount seems to contribute to aios bending. i run the mob 6 canopy on everything, but there are also tpu mounts with better support to keep the camera from slamming the board in crashes.
The closer the propeller tips are to the prop guard inner surface the less losses to tip vortices. Increased tolerances to avoid hits might be the cause of the relatively decreased flying efficiency/flight time.
YES SIR, I have 2 R and a FS and these little whoops are awesome! They have a sweet tune and instantly noticed how flyable it was by shooting tiny gaps and the picture is excellent. Comparing between the two versions I find the R 2700kv motors to be very nice and the FS seems a bit tame after flying the R. I have been over a quarter mile across a local park in two with a good line of sight and I still had a very acceptable Tx and Rx links! i have tortured my Air65s and have broken nothing not even prop damage Man I love these!

Betafpvs whoops have been so solid.. their 85mm versions are my favorite hands down, this looks lile theyve gotten close to the responsiveness of the 85mm! Awesome stuff 🙌🤙
My theory on why 23kkv version is not touching ground is: lower kv motors have more torque at the same current, that means when you slow props down in dive and then quickly spool them back up, you are giving motors almost all the current the battery can provide and given the same current limit lower kv motors come up on top being torqier in given circumstances, higher kv motors begin to shine either at top end at high speed or with 2 bladed props with lower weight and drug
I always value your thoughts JB thanks for all you do. It's not easy Now all we need is a avatar version or an aio with out a vtx. Then add a 1s vtx avatar lite vtx
I've made a build with their new 5in1 fc... And it do not give weight change) maybe 0.2 gramms or so but it seems almost no change. The only difference is a cooper-wire antenna instead if flat smd. I do not know if it will show better performance... What do you think about cooper-wire antenna?
Hello Josh! Wanting to get into FPV flying, I'm looking at three RTF kits currently. It's either the Darwin Babyape 2 kit, Darwin Foldape4 kit, or the HGLRC Draknight kit. As long as i can get about 6-7 minutes of flight time and the remote can hook up to my laptop to practice in simulators thats mainly what I care about.
hey bardwell I heard you say that you could get a low voltage warning from your controller 12:53 do you think you could make a video on how to set that up?
@15:00 I encourage all angle mode pilots (this means you too, JB) to try the new BF 4.5 implementation of Horizon mode. Chris Thompson fixed it so that it feels exactly like acro, uses acro rates, but auto levels when you let off the right stick. There are a couple parameters for tuning it and they are in OSD Profile Misc page
To go with the "what if your drones stuck in a tree" video we need a "what to do if your drones stuck in a hole" video. Today I crashed my tinywhoop into a grass field, it rolled then kept rolling, then MF rolled down into a hole that was like 3ish feet deep. I took plenty of pictures with my camera to make sure there was nothing there but I was able to confirm the hole went on past a spot I couldn't put my camera so I just had to reach in quick and grab it. I think some useful tools for similar situations would be great, like falling in a somewhat shallow drain hole. Places a drone can get stuck that you cant or shouldn't stick your arm into.
I just got a pavo20 pro and I think it’s too big for flying in the house. I’m considering the air65. What goggles are good for it and can I use my jumper t15 remote with it? Thanks for the content!
It took me way too long to adjust between Acro and angle, I just found it helpful to me to stay with acro. However I started with flying whoops and in acro, so it was also what I was accustomed to.

@@therealdohos2607to me, throttle management was the hardest part about learning to fly. You can put a throttle limit on it but it is still going to seem over responsive until you get some practice in. Have you tried any simulators?
I have both versions and both appear to have terrible Rx range for some reason. I have a mobula6 2024 and it maintains link quality around 98-100 all the way to 200-300 feet away and I'm confident it can go further than that. Conversely my Air65 freestyle struggles around 50-115 feet away, with my Radiomaster Pocket sending out telemetry loss and recovered warnings left and right. Barely any obstructions but link quality drops to 60-70 at packet rates of 150-250 Hz. My racing version is much better and can get as far as the distance I've attempted with my mobula but still struggles around 190-230 feet away.
@@StoneFPV- How unfortunate for me to get two Air65 with terrible range, otherwise I do like how it flies and the camera is better than my Mobula6. 😢 Honestly I'm not sure if it's even the drone or some compatibility issue with my Radiomaster Pocket but I'm unsure about the reason. I did adjust the telemetry ratio a bit to see if it helped and it did but only a little. There are other people online I'm seeing with the same issue too lol.
@@cicadafun try turning your packet down to 50hz. The pocket only has a max power of 250mw. I had that same problem with my zorro (which maxes power out at 250mw as well). Now that I use a boxer at 1w I’ve turned my packet rate back up to 250hz

Since it's analog, it takes me back a few years to those days when the video looked like watching TV on an old CRT box with the rabbit ears and having to adjust the vertical hold. Very nostalgic. I haven't flown analog in so long but it makes me want to bust out my old 75mm with dual 1S and buzz around. I just need to update my 1s packs. The sag is pretty bad. Maybe change the plug and use straight up 2S instead. . Side note...the "Oh nos..." after getting stuck in the tree were classic.
Короче, ждём такой же дрон на HDZero AIO5 (желательно в новой версии, когда ELRS будет получше) и это будет песня. Уже замахиваюсь, чтобы бросить деньги в монитор
I had to rip full speed face first directly into a large tree to finally brake one of my meteor frames. They lived up to the hype imo. Also They turn off telemetry because it reduces issue reporting. People don't understand that the telemetry BACK is usually maxed at 25mw and thus their controller is constantly yapping at them "telemetry lost, telemetry restored, telemetry critical" -- who cares. Shut it off.

My racing version is much better and can get as far as the distance I've attempted with my mobula but still struggles around 190-230 feet away.
My experience was the complete opposite. My 2024 mob6 was terrible in all ways and the air65 has been wonderful.
@@StoneFPV- How unfortunate for me to get two Air65 with terrible range, otherwise I do like how it flies and the camera is better than my Mobula6. 😢
Honestly I'm not sure if it's even the drone or some compatibility issue with my Radiomaster Pocket but I'm unsure about the reason.
@@StoneFPV- I did that and range slightly improved but still getting the warnings lol. Funny enough it seems it adversely affected the range on my mobula6 somehow.
@@cicadafun if it’s just the telemetry warning you could just shut it off
I removed the elrs receiver and soldered a tbs nano rx on there.
However im still trying to figure out how to properly mount the tbs micro antenna on there since its so long
Does someone have an idea how i could do that?
13:10 because “telemetry lost” “telemetry recovered”
This is thing is so much fun
Hahaha. I did the same thing with a fishing pole and heavy weight when I got mine stuck.
Just bought my Nazgûl eco because of your video
Waiting for Air75 👁👁
👀
BetaFPV for the win! My HM products don’t last anywhere near a long as my beta stuff. 2024 Mob6 didn’t last a week 🙄
Welllll, technically i should sleep, buuuttt joshua bardwell just uploaded, so i guess tomorrow will be a tired day
Man I haven't found an Air75 or Air65 that's in stock for a month now lol
Toss the electronics into a meteora65 2022 pro frame. It’s not much weight difference, provides more room for bigger props, and is more durable.
Yet, they kept that camera angle that makes it difficult for newbie to fly. All sounds good expect for that
Короче, ждём такой же дрон на HDZero AIO5 (желательно в новой версии, когда ELRS будет получше) и это будет песня. Уже замахиваюсь, чтобы бросить деньги в монитор
Bro was absolutely gassed after pulling a rope for .5 seconds
HummingBird v3.1 RS - 16 gram.
Ordered this from Betafpv a month ago. Still waiting. 😂
I waited a while as well, I have the 65 and 75(forget the names). Both are super durable and fly great. Worth the wait for sure
I refuse to order anything from them after having that same experience.
@@StoneFPV-ugh… I learned that very thing with this experience
@@APS-yo8oy most of their products are available from US based retailers and some are even available on Amazon
Love my air65, been waiting on my 75 from beta fpv since the end of August.
Re: 13:08 Somehow I only have my OSD showing RSSI dBm and LQ correctly if TLM is disabled...ヽ(ー_ー )ノ
RSSI and LQ come from the receiver. The FC telemetry option doesn't affect receiver based sensors.
TBS micro antenna weighs less and performs much better
How did you mount it to the drone since its quite long? Im still trying to figure that out
I had to rip full speed face first directly into a large tree to finally brake one of my meteor frames. Shut it off.
yeaaaa i'm still waiting on my order lol........ordered my air75 from betafpv website and was supposably shipped on 8/11/24 and i'm still waiting on it to arrive... I keep contacting customer service and all they say is its waiting for customs to clear it... gonna shop a little more local next time..
