- Title says it all. You will be working with 17 different 10mm bolts of which three are for the oil pickup and the other 14 are for the pan itself. You need to remove the two 14mm nuts to the motor mounts prior to doing the pan bolts. You must remove the dipstick first in the entire process. Use care not to break it. Any questions let me know thank you. Please subscribe.
I did the gasket and gasket maker and it blew the gasket out the back and leaked pretty bad I’d say just do gasket maker
I ended up stripping the female threads in the pan for oil drain plug, is there a way I can get away with using one of those oversized re-threading plugs or should I just replace the whole oil pan?
Can tap it to the old size and get a stock plug or go with an oversize plug. Either is an option. Most cases I've seen people just replace the pan as subarus are engineered like trash.
Ryan Hoshal I think I’ll try the oversized plug and see if that works. Who’s bright ideas was it to make the oil pan out of aluminum! Thanks man for replying so fast I really appreciate the help
I'm in the process of taking off the oil pan and i couldn't figure out how to get to the back bolts.i guess I know how now. Thanks for the video.
Would the oil pan be the same on the 2002 outback? I can't find any videos on it.
So how did you prop the engine up to get mount plate off? I did not see that you had any Jack's or anything for the motor.
On the very front lip of the forward side of the engine with a 2x4 small standing straight up, sketchy yes, effective, also yes.
is it leaking since you have done this job a lot of people complain about the gasket because it does not come with one from factory but i went ahead and bought that same gasket what time of gasket maker did you use bro
please reply!!
