    Very nice Hornet Addam👍
    The red driver and Flake paint is a great touch mate.👌🦘🇦🇺

      Thanks! I love that Lame Flake paint! It really makes a simple black paint job really pop!! I don't even remember why I went red with the driver figure now but he stands out in there and looks pretty cool.

    Great video. I had the car almost 35 years ago. I remember how hard the wheels were to put on!

    I bought this kit recently and just finished her today. I love this car. (my first RC car). I have planes, sailboats, helicopters, even a submarine. But RC cars are cool. I always thought RC cars would be boring. Not so.

      Congratulations! I am a little biased but RC cars and trucks are the best! Mostly because I have tried flying and it never lasted long and didn't end well! I will stick to simulators for flying!!! Way less hassle and suffering!! I am glad you stepped foot into the car side of things! Let me know if you have any questions, I will be happy to help out if I can answer! Be careful with the car though, they tend to multiply!!!

    I like the metal flake paint.

      Thanks!! I wanted to try it and it was "close enough" to the box art I figured it worked. The results of the Lame Flake and the black together is just awesome!! I am very glad I tried it!

    Nice one Addam. I have recently bought a Hornet kit. I have built one before and know all about the pesky rear wheel inserts. I took several layers of skin off my knuckles putting those in! Also you were talking about the bouncy handling and I think that is basically a 'feature' of these. I was told about your channel by a person we shall call 'the RC Elf' who is a kind chap that I believe has bought you a nice gift for your channel. He's also bought me and others some nice things so hooray for him. I've looked at some of your other vids and it looks like you have quite a collection of RC's going on there. Keep up the good work :-)

      Hi Pete, thanks for taking the time to watch a couple, I appreciate it! I did get an awesome present from the RC Elf, I mean AWESOME!!! I will be starting that video series as soon as I have all the parts but it is going to be the most epic thing in my collection once completed. I certainly appreciate RC Elf's generosity and it is going to be a part of my collection forever!! I won't spoil what it is but I hope to release the beginning of that series soon. He also recommended your channel to me and I have watched some of them, gonna take a while to get through all of them but I enjoy your videos very much! The Hornet and all the other with that similar chassis are all very bouncy, this one being one of the least bouncy. There is an odd satisfaction of watching them hop and bobble all over the place. I don't even get upset when they just bounce up so hard they flip over front ways! It is definitely a character trait of those buggies for sure. My little Grasshopper 2 has bucked over front side so many times and I laugh every time. I do think Tamiya vehicles are some of the most enjoyable to drive. They may not win races, do crazy stunts or are not generally the fastest thing out there but the joy of building and finishing automatically gives you more pleasure driving it, at least that me. Cheers and thanks for watching!

      @@AddamsPlayground I'm sure that your new kit will be awesome and keep you busy for a while. Hoorah for the kindly Elf! Yeah I agree about the quirky Tamiya handing being hilarious. I quite often run Lunchboxes with a friend and we spend hours running them over little bumps and trying to get them to jump over each other. Thanks for popping over to my channel. I know that there is far too much on RUclips to keep up with so I appreciate it. Happy RC'ing to you :-)

    Makes me want to get one of these again I got rid of it because it was two wheel drive and then I went and bought a radio shack gold narrow cuz I was feeling nostalgic and I used to sell them

      They are close, the hornet has the floating rear pivot which does it help of the straight pivot in the Golden. Both are great looking buggies!

      Thanks Steve! I still have a long way to go but things have gotten better over time. I hope they keep improving! I will still always just be a guy tinkering in his workspace though!

    The hardest part of this build (beside getting the tires on), was fitting those tiny e-clips to the shock piston rods.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 года назад

      Yeah those 3 piece wheels can be a pain! In my last video I acutally have a tips section on them funnily enough, A little too late for you with this one though. So I actually got slick new tool for doing the e-clips. Search for Dynamite E-clip tool. It is a little folding tool that really helps getting them onto the shock shafts. I always put the lower one one first and I just line that one up and smash it down on the bench and it clips on really easy, the top one with pliers can be a struggle!! That little tool make it so much easier. It take a few minute to figure out the right way to load the clip into the tool but when it is in there it is a breeze to snap the clips on! I should make a quick video on this.... look for something very soon!!

    My first hobby grade RC was a World Engines Rockbuster which was a Korean knock off of a Hornet. It was back in 1986 and as I broke things I’d replace them with Tamiya Hornet parts. I have the 2014 Kyosho re-re scorpion, but I’d like to get a Hornet

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  3 года назад +1

      And likewise I want to start getting some of the re-release Kyosho stuff. I haven't done so yet as the Tamiya ones are more affordable! The Hornet is a fun buggy and super easy to build. As always thanks for watching and taking the time to drop a comment!
