We drove from OKC to Russellville, Arkansas for the eclipse. They had 4 minutes and 13 seconds of Totality, with clear skies and it was AMAZING! “It’s something you can’t understand until you experience it” - YES!!!! 100%. I was so worried I’d be like, “That’s it?!” NOPE! It was so freakin awesome!

Was lucky enough to see a total eclipse in TN 2017 and NY on Monday! Even seeing it before I’m still just as blown away! Pics and vids can never replicate your naked eye experience and it’s so hard to explain to someone who’s never seen one before, why it’s so special. The Grand Canyon is similar in that way, if you’ve never seen it before.
I’ve been to Niagara Falls many times and was planning to view there originally, but it’s always potentially cloudy there so had clear skies on the NY VT border.
I’m glad you guys had a great time!

Hello fellow umbraphille, I have relatives all along the totality path. I passed over the chance with my nephew in Oklahoma. Just like your pov, it was 100% viewing conditions. Our pov at St Catherine's 40 miles west of Niagara Falls was heavily clouded over with lucky breaks for brief but timely glimpses. Hope to see it again in Spain 2026.

I drove from Michigan down about 170 miles to Indiana. I'd seen partial eclipses before and full lunar, but not anything like this. Just. Wow.
At 66 very little impresses me.
But when I could look at the sun during totality without glasses, I found myself stomping around an abandoned church lot in the middle of nowhere yelling , HOLY SH*T! over and over and over again. 2044, Baby!

There were high clouds in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, but there were many breaks in the clouds that offered unobstructed views. During totality, at my location, a thick cloud rolled in totally blocking the view for a minute or so then moved out of the way just before totality ended offering a clear view long enough to see the corona and snap a few photos. That was the crown jewel to add to the annular eclipse that I saw in Midland, Texas last October.

We saw the totality just outside Dallas and we had the opposite experience. Partly cloudy during the partial stage, with the sun coming in and out of view, but often times behind the clouds, but a minute before totality it cleared up and we saw the totality for nearly 4 1/2 minutes unobstructed. Sorry you couldn't experience the totality like that but it's nice that you guys could experience it together with others as well. The communal aspect really made it even more special. Most mind blowing experience ever.

What an amazing place to watch the eclipse! Too bad about the clouds, but it seems you made the best of things regardless. We drove 1 1/2 hours from where we live to the small town of Markle, IN (just south of Fort Wayne). We arrived about 2 hours before totality. We set up our lawn chairs and waited for the show. By the time the sun was totally obscured, there were about 75 people in the park with us. We had a few high clouds, but they did not block the event at all. It was amazing, eerie, and awesome. The photos I took of the actual eclipse didn't really turn out that well, but the experience was one we will treasure for years to come...

We couldn’t have seen the actual eclipse cuz we didn’t have the special glasses and it was super cloudy cuz it was in WA where I grew up. But experiencing sunrise then the eclipse then daylight again was pretty cool. We watched the actual eclipse on tv. This year I watched it during my lunch hour online in northern Maine. Brought back great memories and they actually had blue skies. Glad you got to experience it. Thanks for posting. As always 😊

Watched it in Southern Indiana near Bloomington (drove down from NW Indiana)...perfectly clear skies and 75 degrees, 4 minutes of unobscured totality...amazing experience (I wouldn't say "life changing" like some are saying LOL) and couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!
If I had to describe it, it looked like a glowing white ring in a dark sky (but not as dark as a typical night sky at all) above and looked like the sun had just set below the western horizon at the same time. It was dark enough for street lights to turn on. Four minutes later, it was just like another normal sunny afternoon once the sun started to re-emerge.

We also had broken cloud but got many glimpses as the moon crossed in front of the sun. We had almost 4 1/2 minutes of totality. There was an orange sunset glow that extended 360 degrees along the entire horizon. AMAZING. I was not able to get any great pics but at 67 years, I really only cared about being there and sharing the experience with my wife, Pam! Totality was awe. The moon's shadow was like death overtaking life, and the halo around that dark disc was heavenly and when the diamond ring appeared it was the moment you are positive that rebirth is not a fairytale. We turned to walk back to our car just to see an American Bald Eagle swoop by. I wasn't sure we picked the best spot, but I trust my wife and she never disappoints!

Great video! Too bad about the clouds, but at least you were able to see some of the eclipse, plus hang out at Niagra Falls.
My son and his family drove from central California to Dallas for the eclipse and to see some friends who had moved there. He caught a break because the clouds cleared for several hours and he got some really nice photos of totality, including prominences and the corona, plus the ingress and egress phases. At least five members of my astronomy club travelled to various locations to see the eclipse. Of the five that I know about, three had clear weather during totality with some clouds before and after the eclipse, one had partially cloudy skies (better than your skies), and one was completely clouded out.
Unfortunately, circumstances prevented my wife and me from making a trip to see totality (we had thought about going to Waco, TX). Fortunately, my wife and I saw the 2017 total solar eclipse from Rexburg, ID. We also travelled for both the 2012 and 2023 annular solar eclipses, which are also fun events even though they aren't as good as a total eclipse. I had planned a short trip to Grand Canyon National Park to get a better partial eclipse than I could get in Fresno (67% max vs. 50% max), but as time drew near, the forecast changed to 100% cloud cover at South Rim, so I cancelled my reservations a couple days ahead of the event. Instead, I set up two telescopes (8" and 11" diameter) at my church so that church staff and some friends that I invited could view the partial eclipse and see some sunspots. About 25 people came by to look.

Thank you for your upload. We purposely avoided Niagara Falls and awaited the totality at St Catherine's about 40 miles west. We were more fortunate how the breaks in the heavy cloud cover from our pov showed the diamond rings, pre- and post-, and the totality itself. It was SO COOL, for first timers. I was bitterly disappointed about the untimely cloud cover, since I had perfect viewing conditions in Rexburg, Idaho in 2017. "If you were near a totality...." I completely agree with you. My wife and I flew 2000 miles from Calgary. My sister flew 2700 miles from Vancouver Island. My nephew from Toronto drove thru a 3 hour traffic jam back to Toronto, twice the usual traffic jam. But, just like you, we visited friends, family etc etc

I live in Syracuse. It was cloudy and I didn't see much until the total eclipse. You are so right; the best part was the total darkness. So unique and difficult to describe, and so worth it. Welcome to NY!

Memorable trip just the same. The Niagara Falls area has some great people in the surrounding communities on both sides however most of your crowd would have been tourists of course. Great to see people have fun and just truly appreciate such a rare event. Thanks for sharing.

OMG! Welcome to Canada! We were just down the way on Lake Erie at a conservation area watching. It was awesome! I can't believe how dark it got at totality. There were cottages down the way doing fireworks for the 4 or so minutes we had. Amazing!

Another great video. So cheerful, you really captured your experience, and how cool to see the falls in the eclipse darkness. We drove to north of Plattsburgh and were blessed with over 3 minutes of totality with full corona. It was unforgettable. Very emotional. That corona...I will never think of the sun the same way again. One thing we noticed is that leading to and during the darkness the colors were so different, and seeing the stars was incredible. And afterwards the southbound traffic was WILD...like the 405 on a very bad day for 8 hours with no relief. Luckily we knew backroads, but even with that, what should have taken 2 1/4 hours only took 5.

Wow...truly incredible...I think, as a photographer, that it would create amazing photos even WITH the clouds...actually kinda different. I wish I coulda been somewhere it was happening, I may not be here for the next one in 20yrs or so. The energy levels in the crowds I've seen online I bet felt awesome...kinda like it is at some rock concerts when there's positive energy around...and I'm not a "energy" guru person...just definitely can feel that kind when it happens!
