I don't know how I missed this song back in the day. Luckily for me, I have an awesome radio station that plays awesome music from that absolutely fantastic Era, which is where I heard this from. I'm 65 years old and am STILL listening to the music from back then, and I doubt that will ever change. Everybody should be as lucky as to be born during that time! In 1989, I was a 19 year old man, when I heard this on Radio, here in Melbourne, Australia. I bought the album straight away at a music shop. All these years later as a middle age man, this song is just as great now as it was back then ✔️👍✔️👍✔️

The summer of 1989 was kind of epic for me musically- not only did Love and Rockets get a Top 3 smash hit on the American charts but there was Depeche Mode’s 101 live album and film as well - my top 2 favorite bands of all time. I saw Love and Rockets in concert that summer with front row seats (with The Pixies as the opener!) and even met Kevin Haskins earlier that day, before he did an interview for MusiquePlus (Quebec's version of MTV) and was bowled over by what a complete sweetheart he was. When Peter Murphy came though town on his solo tour later that year (with Nine Inch Nails as the opener!) , I also met Peter and he was as kind as you could imagine someone being. A year later I was graduating from high school and skipped prom because I had sold-out-in-15-minutes third row seats for Depeche Mode on the World Violation tour (with Nitzer Ebb as the opener!) and ended up meeting Martin Gore, Alan Wilder and Andy Fletcher after the show outside of their hotel. They were about to go clubbing and Martin invited me along. I ended up dancing with Martin and Alan and even played a round of pool with Fletch! It was such a magical time in my life, full of promise and possibility.
@SparkJoy I spent about two hours talking to Kevin Haskins backstage after a Peter Murphy show in 2000. He played drums for PM on that tour. I had the same experience, he was super cool and what started as a music conversation just kept going until I had to leave - at the time, I was helping run the video feeds at House of Blues in Las Vegas. Funny thing...I discovered Bauhaus in Spring of 1983 when I was in 10th grade. Then I went to London on a school trip and it happened to be the week they played their final show, but I had no clue about it. I found out years later that I was there but missed it. I was a senior in High School when this song came out. I immediately bought the CD. Played this song on repeat. Such great memories!!!
Great beat and stood out for 1989 back when things were So Alive!

This song charted very high though.
Really? It was #3 on Billboard, not that bad IMO
I had just two words of this song stuck in my head .... "I'm alive, so alive" ... and I could not get past that, or recall the song. So I typed in just those words on google and found it !! Thank god bc it was making me crazy !!
One of the best songs EVER.
This is one of those that needs like an 8 hour youtube version
