Since my past Unleashed speedrun guides were a bit convoluted, this is intended to be a more accessible introduction to day stage action. With that being said, thanks for tuning into this presentation. Enjoy!

Everyone criticizes Boost formula because it's "HoLd BoOsT tO WiN" ,but sonic unleashed did it best, making you have to have good reaction time on top of holding boost.
Yeah.
"Hold Boost to win" is more like Generations and especially Forces kind of thing
In Unleashed, there are times where you have to stop boosting play it right, like when you're drifting

@@ryannathaniel9296Really don’t think Boost to Win describes Generations. You could make the same argument that the Adventure games are just spin dash to win (especially SA1)

I've actually had this project in mind for a long time, finally had the time and motivation to put it together! Good looks dude
I've "partially" initiated the "Interceptor Glitch" by accident one time before I knew the name of it! (I'd just managed to stop Sonic from entering the chase (scene!)) This video also showed me what if been doing wrong outta habit with QSS (Quick Step Slide): Spamming the bumpers! 😂

I This very video made me wish more Sonic games and games in general had the sheer amount of mechanical and interaction this game has.
The rings acting as both a percentage speed boost, health system and has relevancy on the score is amazing.
The drift not only acting as a movement option but a speed increase and oost recharge is also insane.
It feels like everything in this game not only counted as a highspeed manuver to interact w/ the stage, but also here to push sonic FORWARD.
The drifting variant of M-Speed is pretty useful, I use it a lot in my no-boost runs. Also, it's not that hard to pull off!

In all the 22 years of my life, I never knew the drift recharges Sonic's boost oh my god. Sonic Unleashed is my favorite game of all time, I played the ps2 as a kid and remembered it looking just like the 360 version which is weird 😂 and learning new things about it to this very day is just the goddamn best.
These are always so informative and the editing is great. I love the voice over this time!

@@SonicTeamHero I feel like a lot of the general stuff has been explained multiple times before, but I really found the individual level strategies helpful. Like the intercepter glitch thing. I never knew that was how people carried so much air time. I would love a follow up or potential series on this video with just tips/tricks/skips for individual levels!
This game is hard as hell. It took me three hours to get a S rank on Chu-nan. You make it look easy. I’m much better with the Adventure style. I love Unleashed, but it's kind of overwhelming.

If you’re referring to the launch at the beginning of Act 1, it’s pretty inconsistent. I’d say it’s like a 20% success rate with a reliable M-speed setup, so I recommend giving yourself a decent amount of distance to launch M-speed and then QSS left into the wall. This is great information, despite Unleashed being a game I adore immensely I never could fully understand how to do these crazy tricks and this has help immensely. So thank you so much for this video.
You’re welcome! Unleashed has a pretty wild learning curve so I figured an introduction to speedrunning was just what the doctor ordered, glad you found it helpful
Ironically, the Unleashed Sonic mod for Sonic Project '06 (Shadow Update) has a glitch similar to M Speed, but it's activated by vectoring, essentially, boost jump to the left or right, but still a little forward, so either 88-89 degrees (right) or 271-272 degrees (left), and as soon as you jump, snap the stick forwards. After that, just snake the same motion after landing, and it acts liek M-Speed. I only pulled it off once, but my friend Blue Overdrive says this is the best way to do it in P-06. Give it a try! I'm curious to see how well you can pull it off since you're an actually experienced speedrunner lol

This is so amazing! But I just can’t seem to press all these buttons at once? Like at 3:23 how do I slide, boost, and press the quickstep at the same time?
For boosting QSS I tilt my right hand to cover both boost and slide with my thumb while quickstepping with my index fingers, so feel free to try repositioning you hand to find a setup that works best for you^^
I still have troubling boosting and qss. Holding X and B at the same time is gonna be tricky
It can be a bit challenging, though I’ve found that rotating your right hand counterclockwise to hold the X button with the tip of your thumb while covering the B button works best for me

Anyone got any tips on how to do the skip in Spagonis Act 1 (the one near that roundabout curve with the railing)? The skip where (I think) you use M-Speed to jump over the railing into a later section of the game?

Do you emulate Unleashed or play on Console?
I run on Xbox 360, old fashioned but still gets the job done
So I’m trying to learn to how to quick step slide and stomp and I’m a big dum dum and having a really hard time getting them to work. If you maybe have a more in depth tutorial on how to perform these I’d really appreciate it.
I’ve made a separate QSS tutorial, though this guide explains it a bit better than that one. In any case, for quickstep slides you just gotta hold the slide button while using the bumpers to quickstep. And quickstomp slides involve tapping the jump button then holding the stomp button to land with a slide in quick succession. Both techniques are more effective with a good running start

So wait, do I still need to lightly tilt the analog stick forward when trying to build speed with jumps,stomps and quick-stepping?
If you’re referring to M-speed/D-speed, you only need to nudge the stick while airborne. However, Sonic can maintain speed while using QSS without holding a direction so it’s best to hold that M-speed/D-speed stick position in advance so that you’re ready to launch jumps
Would you ever make a speedrun direct for unleashed, sorta like the speedrun direct videos for sonic generations?
If you’re referring to guides for specific acts, it’s something I’ve considered trying my hand at sometime
Clean video, i got 2 questions about Quick stomp slide and secondly the break jump glitch, how can i perform qss consistently because i do mach both buttons but it's not working, my guess is that i have to hold slide but not too long jump and repeat it again, as for the break jump glitch it happens to me before meanwhile doing m-speed, how do i react to that and make it work ?
Is there a specifique buttons for me to press or not ?

For QSS, I’ve found that holding the stomp/slide button while rolling your thumb over the jump button works best. Be sure to hold the stomp long enough to land with a slide, but chain your stomps and jumps quickly to avoid losing speed.
As for the break jump glitch, it’s very difficult to cancel on time since it tends to be unpredictable. You can pause the game several times to be more precise, but it’s just something that takes a lot of trial and error to land.

@@SonicTeamHero Thanks for the tips, i will add these 2 techniques into my gameplay, i wasn't very sure on qss because it worked only some times, i also throughts that not having a high speed make it difficult to keep it consistently, as for the break jump glitch, it happened when i was doing m-speed on windmill isle act 2 on a rampe before there is a transition to 2d i start going fast than everything when Black, i am still not sure to what buttons i have to press to stop it, should i stop m-speed before the break jump glitch happens or during the break jump glitch i should stop holding my stick in the m-speed position ?
Other than that more practice and i will be able to do m-speed works a entire stage !
You can release the stick to cancel a break jump, though boosting or stomping are the fastest ways to get you speed back under control

Do you know if the sonic generations physics has rings increasing your speed or is that exclusive to unleashed?
Ring energy is exclusive to Unleashed, Sonic’s speed in Generations stays consistent
could you make a tutorial on the skyscraper scamper building glitch at the start of the run? I can't pull it off
If you’re tryna pull off that skip without M-speed then make sure you get to the interceptor chase before resetting the stage, it’s much easier to clear that jump with the interceptor glitch activated

Does QSS,M-speed and D-speed work in 60 fps or do i need to deactivate fps boost?
They should all work in 60fps, though M-speed/D-speed may be more lenient without fps boosts
