- Here is the how-to of how our techs will prep an S-10 Frame for a Code 504 S-10 Conversion Kit!
Note: The brake line tab welded to the inside of the frame above the rear axle will need to be removed so the shock cross bar can be installed.
I'm going over my 39 Willys Overland which I with the help of a couple of advisor's (so to speak :-) ) I stuck with the original frame. I used a 1994 Chevy 4.3 v6 and 700r4, now I finally have the chance to get "A little more Get up and Go" requiring to the best of my knowledge a stronger chassis and maybe dropping the frame. I have 1946 chevy truck short bed your kit would work on a 1998 s10 extended cab?
hi i hope you or some else can answer my question , i see all kinds of kits and such for 40's trucks , but i got a 46 stylemaster 2dr 2 seats, am trying to find out if this kit along a S10 donor will do the trick, pls any advice,,ideas,,..thanks!!!

I have a mint 84 S10 long wheel base. I want to put the cab and dog house on a gen 2 frame will it work??
I Think The MOST Important Starting Point to Mention, Is The WHEEL BASE Of The Vehicle Your Going To Put The S-10 Frame Under. If You Have 112 Wheel Base Car And A Longer Wheel Base Frame, The Fender Openings For The Wheels Will Be Off And Look Stupid. UNLESS You Shorten The Frame Somewhere In The Middle, And Then ADD Extra Frame Rail Plates At The Shortening Location To RESTRENGTHEN That Frame At The Cut. And Also The location Of The Steering Box And Column, Compared To How The Original One Was Located In The Vehicle As Well. Because When You Start Getting Into EVEN MORE Body Cutting And Alterations For The Frame Hump Over The Rear End Too, It Might Be Better To Just Repair And Update The Original Vehicle Frame To Start With... Too Much Screwing Around And Alterations Can Lead To A BIG Time Consuming And COSTLY MONEY PIT To Start Losing Interest In Completing...
This is for a 47-54 chevy AD pickup thats why he wants the 118 frame (short cab long bed) wheel base is almost perfect.
Can I cut the brace over the tank flat instead of following the weld?

What year s10? I got a 84 s10 frame long box single cab
I had a gentleman offer me a 1984 S10 single cab - long box 4x4, 5 speed today. The truck has 44,000 original miles on it, I would like to use the s10 chase and drive train and drop a 1947-53 chevy 3100 1/2 ton body on it. I read its hard to do with a 4X4 Frame, is this true? Secondly are there bracket kits and instructions available for a 4x4 chassis swap?

@@code5044 Thanks for your response. Again Im new to this type of project. Could you tell me why builders would shy away from using a 4x4 chases ? Also Have you heard of a kit maker like yourself, that actually make kits for 4x4 frames and if purchased are there any components from your kit that are useable?
@@markhendy8369 the 4/4 frame is wider than the 2wd. I do not know of any kits made for a 4/4 no. I know from some Facebook groups it can be done but I can't help you with that sorry.
Have you ever put a 49 Chevy fleet line deluxe on a S 10 frame?
I have a question what rear end should i use because im gonna run a 5.3 in it will the original one work ? Or have to upgrade the rear end gears
Isaac Carranza my s10 came with the 3.08 rear end which I believe was the most common with the 85 year. I also have a 2.79 rear end out of a 69 but was told with a 350 sb it was doggish off the line. I would think a 3.08 or similar would be ok with a 5.3

I have a question about the front bumper bracket. Now 1982 to 1985 had the bumper brackets bolted on would I have to cut anything off more if mine were bolted on
We suggest you remove the original brackets and use the ones included in the kit.
Would a plasma cutter work ok to remove these mounts as well or is it best to just use my angle grinder? I would have to go back and grind even after plasma cutting to smooth everything out.
A lot f people like to use both yes.

wheelbase and width are almost perfect for a 47-54 chevy pu body swap, then you get better suspension and a million options on lowering, air, hydros etc

As long as it's 2WD, depending on the year truck you are putting on it, you will have to modify the frame

The suspension bump stops need to come off as well, correct?
Yes, you are correct! We remove everything rubber because we got our frames sandblasted and powder coated. Then they get replaced with new ones.

Truck frames are the same you can put a 82 body on a 02 frame. My 90 body is on a 98 frame the 94 and up frames are boxed further back. . and you dont need to cut a damn hole to take engine mounts off. I been building these trucks since 1987 .
