You have heard it said so many times. Loads of tone in the fingers. I think it was Nuno Bettencourt said he plugged into Eddie Van Halen's rig and he sounded nothing like Eddie. He sounded like himself.
I'm glad someone is willing to inject a little honesty into things. Of course people will say , when you play as wetas you , of course it doesn't matter.
Tom Morello is SUCH a good example of rhythm > solos... because A) all his rhythm parts are funkified to the MAX...aswell as being so simple! B) But also...what do the crowds think of his solos...?? → Time to go get beers! 😆. (What even IS this random noise..??!) Also...my first "good guitar" I ever bought new at a guitar shop...was a black US Telecaster in '97. And it wasn't until afterwards that I realised I had subconsciously associated it from the Killing In The Name Of clip (Morello played a black Tele). → the power of a riff / rhythm ...
I actually both love his rhythms and solos.. but you are correct, his riffs are were the money is at. ;) That's why we should all practice way more rhythms and riffwriting. :)
I agree with every point of wisdom you made. But one. Get rid of that 90's grunge/bullshit music! Wanna hear extremely innovative hauntingly beautiful music? THE FAMILY JAMS written by Charles Manson and sung by the Manson family. NO LIE! EPIC MUSIC!
Some of the best music we have was written in the 90’s. Nirvana, Tool, QOTSA, NIN, Portishead, Deftones, Jeff Buckley, early Muse, among many many others!
Nice explanations! I can't help myself not to mention: That riff!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Rhythm guitar tone matters. Malcolm Young taught me that.
And you can get 99.9999% of the way there with a $300 guitar and a Boss Katana.
@@Rick-5728 I'll agree with 90....maybe even 95. But no more than that.
BRILLIANT!
AGREED! Great playing and sounds🤙🏼
excellent words of wisdom!

So true!! I spent years on to what my fellow musicians "why dont u play the bass.
You are dead on. I am a guitar player BUT to me only the more advanced players(not me) chase tone. I am chasing playing better
no.2 opened my eyes.. I basically spend most of my time exercising to play solos
