There is also a sound setting in OW2 that alerts you when an ally or enemy has been killed. Each one is OFF by default. Turn them on! Your eyes are not always allowed to wander to the kill feed, and your team won't always communicate.

    My takeaway:
    1. Use cover be protected and for reloading
    2. Learn pacing of hero cooldown cycles
    3. Tanks are tanky, play the map instead of fighting front to back
    4. Turn around and check for teammates before engaging
    5. Don’t tunnel on kills and ignore objectives
    6. Pay attention to pacing of ultimates, and pushing the attack while also knowing when to play passively to control space, understand who will be the highest target in any situation and play appropriately around it

Yeah in overwatch you can kind of get away with not doing if you're at a low rank and other people aren't doing it either, because healing can cover those mistakes up
In valorant well, you're going to die very very quickly if you don't lol

One time, I watched A10 in an unranked to GM. He took an angle I never thought of holding and it was just nasty. Shortly after I found myself in the same situation and thought, “I don’t have A10 aim, but I think I can hit those shots.” They couldn’t push me out for 2 mins.

People underestimate the power of watching guides like these. Generally speaking they are usually a waste of time and not worth the time, but with overwatch there are so many strategies to apply to your technique. It is probably one of the few if not only FPS games that mechanical skill alone is not enough and you need to understand game mechanics in terms of positioning and movement etc.

    • @drb4074
      @drb4074 Год назад

A big reason for that is because OW incorporates a lot of concepts that you see in MOBAs like League of Legends and DotA.
That's what makes OW play feel so much different than other FPS multiplayer shooters like Valorant, or Battle Royales, or those clusterfuck military shooter gangbangs like cod or MW.
It's got FPS mixed with the concepts of MOBAs. A10 has said this on his streams, and it really made me think very differently about the game. Talking about how there are "lanes" on the map, and that most players default to the typical mid-lane ARAM.. but if you understand the concepts of lanes, you can see how to put pressure on the enemy by using alternate lanes. Or how they are doing that to you so you know to go deny it.
How your cooldowns and health are resources that have to be managed well. Or how if your opponents mismanage them, by their own stupidity or if you can force them into it, that you now have chances to punish them for it. Just like mismanaging cooldowns in League or DotA will get your shit kicked in by players that don't.
Mechanical skill of clicking heads is only a part of the game. More so for some characters and less for others. But all of them require understanding of the resources/map concepts. Which is why mechanical skill from other shooters only translates into maybe low Dia. By that time, most players can aim just as well as you. And you now have to know how to play the map, manage your cooldowns, and work with teammates to control objectives.
There is a lot more depth to OW than the average player even knows.

That last bit is very important that a lot of people miss with their guides
You are GOING to mess up, you are GOING to make tons of mistakes.
    It's not a possibility, it's a certainty.
Instead of putting yourself down for making mistakes or blaming it on others, understand that we are human, and mistakes make us who we are
For people who tilt easily like me, I recommend making replays, and watching over them once the tilt wears off, seeing where you went wrong and where you could've done better, it helps me a ton, not just in improving, but in tilting less

I think part of the issue with what you're asking for is that the game has so much variety it would be difficult to talk about it all. In a broad sense, this is just saying play corners and then when you have cooldowns and your opponents team doesn't push forward and look for a place to hide when you don't have cooldowns anymore...or more or less what he mentioned in this video lol. But to go more in depth than that is not only would come to breaking down which tank you picked and abilities you have access to do these things, but also what heroes the teammates around you are on, what heroes the enemy team is playing and even what level you're on. Someone like Rein is going to play Hollywood very different from DVa due to their kit and the areas it allows you and your team to easily gain access to. They care somewhat about different enemy cooldowns and have different timings and ways to utilize the effectiveness of their own cooldowns as well. There are probably some overall general tenets that you can apply, but I'm not sure how much of that is going to be any different than what he already mentioned in this video. Just my thoughts at least.

i think the gm/ master differs for role to role. as a tank player controlling the pace of the engages are crucial and knowing the enemies win condition as well as yours. like taking a dry fight to force out ults knowing the enemy has way too many ults for you to win the fight. right now zarya genji ana lucio are some of the most played heroes in comp at the highest level. as a zarya main myself if i know my lucio doesnt have beat for enemy nano blade i will save my grav for it. so on and so forth its hard to put out a definitive guide on what seperates gm from any other rank to many factors.
sometimes its just can you aim better.

Nah that last part sounds bad imo. Believing that you can apply all this and succeed while 4 people in your team will NOT do the same is borderline insanity. The belief that one can rank up alone is what makes ranked so destructive and makes people salty all the time. There's no salvation for OW. You can make all the excuses in the world, or even say I'm making excuses for myself, but in the end of the day if you can lose because one guy decided to play wrong, your rank isn't about how good you play, it is about how lucky you got. There's no system to reward YOU, theres a system to reward you for a WIN. That's it. If you play godly but still lose because a dickhead picked Kiriko and didn't heal, you are punished too. Now apply that to 10 losses while YOU still did great: you will still derank.

Dude you really forget that it's random. if you're the best guy on your team for one thousand matches, and there's always gonna be the rng of your team or the enemy team having a leaver/thrower/bad player, then you will eventually climb. Not playing your best just because everyone on your team is not up to your standards is simply just lazy. Absolutely there are games you can't win, but with that attitude you can't win the winnable games either. Remember, all you need is 1 small % more than the enemy to win a match. Be that 1 % better than them.

Win streaks happens regardless. Loss streak happens regardless. Games that feels close and gives you ebb and flow is what really matters to you. It's like a rollercoaster experience.
This type mindset in reading is bad and is an example of your teammates being the problem. Your mindset should be solely on yourself, you are the only factor of being in this rank. Getting better is about being more consistent as a player. If you can be more consistent as a player, overtime you'll climb.

Another way to describe space which i find helps me conceptualize it is thinking about overwatch as a game of territory. Starting as attackers, you have barely any space whilst the defenders reign supreme. You as a team are trying to conquer parts of their territory to give yourselves a better advantage e.g. claim chokepoints and flanks; whilst the enemy team is doing everything in their power to defend and hold their territory.
Your success rate of claiming more territory is determined by your manpower vs theirs e.g. Your player numbers vs theirs, your skill vs theirs, your team cohesion and communication vs theirs etc. Another big part ive found which also determines success rate is the vicinity of territory to team spawns/bases. Obviously you will have a home advantage in territory in close proximity to your spawn.
I may be wrong, but this has helped me visualize it easier and i hope it does for others

the point with not focusing thanks really helped me a lot because i always only see the ult value i get from them and that i dont have to aim a lot. youre absolutely right, if they have good healers theyre easily damage neglaters and u cant do anything. just put down the ana and zen like you do when you shoot the mercy first on pharmercy.

Great video! The ebb and flow analogy reminded me of the 4 stages of competence, which to anyone who doesn't know what that is, definitely go and look it up, you should get a pyramid. It's very interesting stuff and it's all psychology. But basically, at the peak of that pyramid, you reach the zenlike "unconscious competence" mode, which is kind of like what you described. It's having the experience necessary to make competent decisions without having to think to much about what you're doing, which in video games is basically the same as going ultra instinct on the enemy team as opposed to inting.
