@@sujo8880 What I said is exactly what the quote is for. If you have a terrible healer, then you have to adjust yourself and make the best of it. If you have a bad Moira, then it means you can't just go in blindly. You have to play more defensively now. Again, "Play with the team you have".
I like to compare it with poker. While royal flush is the best play, you often go for pairs or full house or other things instead. And it feels like I'm this rule you have the least opportunity to make your own plays. You can keep dumb teammates alive and hope they win their duel with your help. But it's not easy to make your own picks without losing more than you gain. Sure you can try to snipe as and, but you don't heal while you do. Same of you go in as a Lucio. Zen can do some damage, but is easy to counter by a dive or sniper. Support is also the role who needs to watch the crap their teammates do the most. As a tank you usually Frontline and don't see much what happens behind and on the side. You just wonder where everyone is when you die. As a dps, you might be on your own flank or duel. But the supports get to see all the orange outlines of their low health team as they scatter in different directions and get all kinds of walls in the way so you cannot heal them.
Lol. Right, it does be like that. Nit much you can do but either match or maybe 3 tanks 2 support. But that's pending on your rando team mates to adjust.
i think the biggest mistake that alot of people are making is that they have the idea that your team is supposed to follow up on whatever you're doing, and that you're the one who's meant to make plays. whats better, 4 players having to be aware of what their dps is doing OR 1 player being aware of what the rest of their team is doing? Instead of trying to make your own openings, if you just play off of your team then you'll instantly find improvement
@@adderti I do that but sometimes they still lack the braincells and the will to play around me and I can't adapt to 4 people who all want to play differently. I've felt much more in control of the game as a dps, as a tank I see myself as pushing my dps players' potential as high as possible. Sometimes it just happens they have none but that's the game, that's soloQ. Anyway, as tanks you should try to adapt to your dps sometimes too. I've felt adaptation was something that needs to be learned when too many times I feel like we gotta go forward, there's an opportunity, but dps are busy in the backline (for good or bad reasons)
@@Guarrow Imo dps also needs to adapt to the tank's needs and scenario. If say their enemy has reaper thats constantly going in on the rein, he can't willy nilly put down his shield, he has to back off the space he's holding so shield can recharge, sure he can firestrike and swing once or twice before he needs to put his shield back up again, but if the dps also keeps the reaper in check it'll help the rein out immensely and he can start pushing in to create space for dps to start doing work. It really should be a give and take relationship between the team. Dps and tanks peeling for each other. Its something I've done often for my supports and dps but rarely I've had that reciprocated by the dps soloq. Probably why I've been playing strictly 4man groups minimum now. At least I can have as much faith in them since I know how they play and they know how I like to play as an aggressive rein compared to overwatch 1.
Maybe it’s just me, but the cuts to clips from other games made it hard to focus on digesting your information at points. Thanks for putting in the time and effort to make this video and the last though. You’re telling me things I didn’t even know existed, my win ratio is starting to make sense 😬
Honestly this video made me realize something. I recently started thinking "hey, i should just stay with team", behind rein shield for instance, since I started dying when trying to flank. But it's such a common thing to stop doing things that don't initially work and stick to what used to in the past. This was a great reminder to just keep trying to evolve when wanting to get better so thanks!
Reaper is supposed to flank. Not all the time, it’s definitely situation dependent, but if you think reaper should be in the midst of every team fight instead of in the back line then your an obvious silver rank noob lmao
It's very true. The problem isn't that you're flanking, it's that you're flanking without looking to accomplish something in particular, or just with bad timing, like engaging as soon as your team starts to back up. Flanking is also just hard, the minute you disappear to go flank the enemy team might use their cooldowns to take space from your teammates (as they are receiving 20% less pressure from your absence- or even 33% less if your supports aren't doing damage), and if that happens right as you engage they will have just enough space away from your team that they will all turn to focus you down quickly. I could watch A10's vids on this all day tbh, but the thing is that these concepts are so abstract in regular gameplay that it's hard to have them be an intuitive reflex. I think it's even harder to learn this just because dying on its own will never teach you it or even remind you of it.
@@1stbestpokemaster nice self projection there No shit reaper is meant to flank you wetty, it’s called a joke Fuck overwatch is actually filled with the dumbest motherfuckers in ranked 😂 Enjoy being stuck in plat or below lol
@@wesb337 wrong I’m much higher then plat, nice self projection though. Clearly you thought reapers shouldn’t flank, and are now trying to play it off as a joke 🤣 have a great time in silver my guy, your clearly low rank by your opinion of reaper and are clearly mad about it 🤣🤣🤣
I'd be interested to see if you could make a similar video for the Tank role; in my experience, it's hell to play as one, because almost no one on my team will either secure kills, or avoid dying to give heals.
I agree. Sometimes Is too difficult ti understand if i did a mistake pushing somewhere or if It was not the right time or if It was the team non paying attention
The way i end up playing on tank is just making space and scaring the enemies, i have won games where my dps end up with little damage or kills, and we won just becuase we managed to prevent the enemies from taking space from us. Sometimes y the enemies will play too safe, and any aggresive util u can use can get u space
The biggest role of the tank is to stay alive and continue to be a threat. Too many tanks want to dive in and then wonder where their supports are. work down enemies within your range, disengage when you need to, and maintain space for your team to utilize.
I mean, very specific skill building content. Calling overwatch improvement videos educational is a bit.. well, let's call that a reach to say the least.
I found that no matter how much you want to improve, there is always going to be obstacles that you can’t climb and you need to find another solution. Sometimes you have to sacrifice something for that improvement. You can be doing everything you can to win a game, but unfortunately, your teammates are lacking in brain cells and your forced to sacrifice the win for a loss. Sometimes it unavoidable, but these games can be a great learning experience and a good way to improve. The trick is always the mindset. Have more fun by caring less about losing and enjoy the learning/improvement journey.
i think especially now low elo ladder is very unbalanced. My other dps could be going 5-11 while im 42-6. and most games are a steam role and not an evenly matched game so you can tell by the first couple of fights whos winning
@@johndirico226 While yes, ranked is very unbalanced and unfair, but playing with better skilled players also makes you better. Don't worry about steamroll games and losses, don't worry about rank either. As long as you play to improve, your rank will reflect that. I used to be hardstuck platinum in league of legends but got myself to master by changing my mindset.
This is one of the reasons that I loved when OW1 had open queue as well as random heroes. It was different, interesting and fun when I would get in a situation like playing Reaper and facing an entire team of Widows, Hanzos, Soldiers, McCrees, etc and having to learn the hard way how to deal with those characters despite being at a disadvantage. Similarly was playing on a team with say no tanks or no supports, where you would (for no tanks) have to learn positioning and using cover effectively or (for no supports) learning where all the med-packs were. Obviously you wouldnt want to play with these kinds of teams in comp, but for practice they were fantastic, since you could learn things that would be far more difficult to learn otherwise that were SUPER handy when playing serious matches (like facing teams full of his counter-picks as Reaper, since obviously youd never actually face a team full of Widows and Hanzos in comp, but if you could learn to deal with them like that, then facing one or two of them in a comp match wouldnt seem nearly as intimidating). Forcing yourself to learn to deal with problems in non-ideal scenarios for your character and/or team comp REALLY helps with mastering a character specifically as well as the game in general. Its easy to learn/play a character when you are in an ideal scenario for them, but its MUCH harder to learn/play a character when in a position of weakness/vulnerability, especially if you never actually force yourself to deal with those situations and instead swap characters or something like that.
@@poopyfartboi Yes but it is definitely the lesser played compared to the regular modes. When open queue was the only option for QP, it was obviously much more popular. Its still an option, it can just take a while to find a game compared to role-locked games, and thats only going to get worse once the "new-game-smell" wears off and a lot of the games population leaves for their next flavor-of-the-month games.
Depends on how many games we are talking about. 5 games? Absolutely. 10 games? Possible. 50+ games? Then it’s probably easier to teach a dog to use the toilet than to teach you to stop shooting tank.. lol
I feel like these videos are a much better first step to me getting better than watching vod reviews (although I haven't seen any of yours if you've done any). Sure I can maybe learn what to do in certain situations on a particular hero but there's never really any overarching ideas to tie it all together; it's just "remember this specific situation and you'll know what do when it happens", which is like learning and remembering every possible position in chess and what do from there to win. I've always wanted to understand the fundamentals more to get a grasp of processes rather than set pieces, and your videos have been great for that!
I've been queuing ranked with a friend and have only been able to queue DPS. It's been a new skill set to learn (mainly play support) but this video was super useful for making me realize why certain games have worked well and others haven't.
Most of the time when professional coaches make videos like this they simply say be aware and improve. The way you elegantly go through examples and introduce new terminology is extremely helpful, got a sub from me keep up the great work.
Also make sure to ignore calls from your teammates that you are doing to much alone. I had this so many times where I played off angle or flanked as dps and got a lot of value out of it, but when it doesnt work out my team flames me for playing alone. I think most people are still used to the old 6v6 meta where you almost all the time had to move as one to win a match. I don't want to say that you never have to group but I feel like in OW2 the dps playstyle has definitely shifted due to the tank changes mentioned in the video. And it is obviously important that you train your capability to 1v1 or even 1v2 because you have to get used to dealing with the enemy alone if you go for these plays. You will lose a lot of duels in the beginning, but if you never go for it you will also never improve.
Sounds like you were exactly the type of DPS that needed to listen to this. As a healer, it is incredibly annoying when the DPS both leave the team, get one "value" kill, then blame us when they die and we don't "take advantage" of their "opening". Sorry to say, but charging into the back lines and killing that Kiriko then dying yourself is actually BAD for your team. Hanging somewhere by your team, hidden or in the open, then waiting for your tank to make an opening so you can SAFELY kill the Kiriko is much better, and hell, you might even be able to get the other support too if the tank does a good enough job at keeping the heat off of you. "Make sure to ignore calls from your teammates that you are doing too much alone" crazy that this is real advice you're giving for a team based game. I think DPS players are really letting the lack of shields get to their heads, it's made you guys play this game like it's a death match. Again, if you want to flank people, do what the video said. Force them to make the choice to either face you or you're team, it will do a hell of a lot more than running in alone and getting a single kill
@@Miriam_J_ You interpet too much into my statement and make assumptions of which you can't know if they are true or not. Both sides have their right to exist. On the one hand you have to go for flanks or off angle plays, because otherwise you don't get ahead or get an advantage over the opponent, on the other hand you can also play with your own team towards certain areas. Each situation has to be considered individually. I tend to adjust my playstyle to the knowledge and actions of my opponents. If I see the opportunity to go for a 1v2, 1v2 or even 1v3 I will do it since it can give me a huge lead when I succeed. I can not stress enough that this game is a competitive shooter that needs you to improve and improving is only possible if you try to limit test and go for these duels. I started out as a Zarya only player in OW1 and hit T500 in Season 3 after that I decided to transition to dps and got shit on pretty hard due to the fact that my aim was garbage. After I invested time into aim practice and duel practice I climbed up to Masters and evetuelly GM aswell. I did this with multiple accounts (7) to learn different heroes. The important point in my statement regarding teammates is that you should not be too influenced by arguments that some random player says. Make your own mind.
I just transitioned to mouse and keyboard and am finding a super hard time to DPS mainly due to my aim I think. Any good ways to train aim other than aimlab and stuff? I'd just like to be more versatile rather than just be stuck playing Support and Tanks.
So true. If the DPS aren't getting enough kills or damage, or the tank wanders off and has bad positioning and gets picked, it's on me. I have to own that...
I disagree. Overwatch is a team game. I have had plenty of games where I hard carried as widow, had 18 kills elims first round vs second best who was at 5, 75% headshot accuracy, but the enemy team swapped to monkey and tracer and perma dive me and I get basically no support from my team who just let them run amock the backline. I could kill both supports and a dps and we'd still lose the fight. Yeah, your team mates aren't holding you back every game, if you are good you will win more games than lose, but you won't win them all if the other team out coordinates yours. I've won plenty games in gold vs GM smurfs because we coordinated and shut them down. I'm plat, but leaving silver was very hard because the players in silver are terrible, climbing gold and plat was easier than silver.
this is something i need to keep being reminded of because i let my nerves get to me as i constantly keep losing games with randoms against sweats. the only way i will learn is by losing and analyzing what went wrong. its not because of my teammates like i keep ranting at, its a problem with myself as a player not having better knowledge and strategic playstyles and knowing when and not to fight. thank you for refreshing my brain with critical thinking.
Excellent content, thank you sm. Just got Masters 5 on DPS. I make a ton of mistakes but I really believe in my potential to climb. This is exactly the type of content I need
This is such an important video because it articulates so many important concepts that are hard to make the most of without understanding them on this level and so many of these things are also taken for granted far too often
AWESOME video A10. This opened my eyes to a lot of shit I was doing wrong, even as a tank main. Understanding space as a resource is such a powerful concept in OW2

The clips from random games in the video really broke my focus. I feel like it would be better if you showed more of the top down view and stuff like that. It would be easier to understand what you’re saying through the visual of a top down view, but you don’t leave it in the video long enough and the random game clips are distracting.
I agree with ItsMango, the random clips broke my focus and seemed unnecessary. I'd rather a still shot of the scenario you're explaining simply stay up for longer so that I can really focus on your explanations, which are always amazing!

@@A10Nerd I dont think it's any memes specifically, just that having memes popping up frequently or other non overwatch media sometimes had me thinking about other things, and distracting me from the overwatch itself
@@A10Nerd I also weren't to fond with the random Skate gameplay coming up. I think keeping it clean and simple is the best way. I think the boys meme was fine, here and there. A10 This is one of the best videos I’ve seen yet! Very simple and easy to follow and the image cuts allows for people with all types of backgrounds to make connections. I shared it with all my friends who are getting back into the game. Thanks!
This videos are amazing for me, being a returning player that hasn’t played in 3 years, watching these videos as a reminder of how the game works is helping me a ton, already got back to gm and grinding to gm1 now, you helped speed up this process so much, again amazing job with these guides
One thing that this highlights that I "default on" a lot is mistaking "I am a dps I am supposed to flank" with waiting for openings. Many times I flank and get punished. This video helped me realize i need to chill out and take a look at my team and evaluate whats going on. Is the space neutral for me to go in or am I about to int? thanks
Well are you flanking and poking/doing DMG or are you just inting into the enemy backline, wasting your cooldowns and feeding? You don't need to flank and use your cooldowns unless your tank is forcing the enemy cooldowns. Remember that. With bad team mates, play reactively not proactively. With good teammates, play proactively and always look for those flanks if you know your supports will follow up with you
@@Real_Nutella are supports supposed to flank as well? (Genuine question) seems risky. I’m wondering as a kiriko main if I should group up with dps flanks and help them as needed and teleport if things get dicey
@@kiltacular280 it depends mostly. doing it with kiriko isn't a terrible idea, as if you have good aim you can assist with damage along with heal the flanker and tp if it's needed. there is also another support to heal the remaining people not flanking. but spreading your team that thin could easily result in a loss of the fight if it's not coordinated properly. just approach that strat at your own risk and make sure the entire team knows that your about to leave to assist the flank.
@@kiltacular280 You can but you have to do it much more safe than a dps. You have to make sure you’re not as easy to punish and that you can get back to your team safely. For Kiriko a really good tip is to spam kunai from off angles and have ur tp available to get back safely. You can also flank if you can coordinate it with another member of ur team
Patience is something that many players tend to lack. People want to force plays only to make a mistake or just speedrun a lost fight. Putting in pressure without simply killing someone is something that not many people recognize the value in.
your teammates are indeed holding you back , you cannot solo carry it's impossible , it's a teamgame , only grandmasters can wipe out whole teams themselves and not always , stop coping , only if your team is playing at least average you can carry , if your team is all dead it's imposible to do anything
Its kinda funny how the title is "No, your teammates aren't holding you back." when he literally explains a situation where your team coordination has to be at least decent and your team has to have atleast 1 braincell (which is kinda impossible). How ironic
Same thing applies to enemy team.. And if you have the aforementioned 1 braincell, you got good winning chances at the start of every match, since everyone else might have 0 :)
My team: shoots zarya to charge her up and complains of me flanking to try and kill their heals Me: This is impossible to win if I don't flank My team: damn you suck as a dps you're just screwing up all the time Me: This is just sad..
Don't know yet whether I'll commit to climbing in OW2, but I really appreciate you and everyone who make videos just like this for comp games. Fundamentals awareness as reference and starting points actually creates something to improve upon. Without awareness, it's difficult or sometimes impossible to gain important or necessary skills to compete, and the concepts here can be applied to so many games besides OW. I used to hate most fighting games, and I was a passionate but very mediocre Smash Bros. player. Once introduced to core fundamental concepts in Smash, I rapidly improved and suddenly became aware of specific things to look for in my game, even for more traditional FGs like Street Fighter and Guilty Gear, now some of my favorite games to compete or improve in. TL;DR: Very informative and useful. Thanks! Keep it up!
you brought back immediate nostalgia at the start of the "what is space" section I miss playing Gigantic that game was so fun,, I wish it never shut down DX
What an amazingly informative and created video. This was a great watch! I absolutely love your editing style, very tasteful choices and a great blend of entertainment and information.
Since ow 2 I have dropped a few ranks to plat. What frustrates me the most as a support is that my tanks keep blaming heals while they forget their positioning. They are the base fundamental of our team and can’t hide behind covers at enemy space. They can hide on team space but don’t think that supports will sacrifice their life for a impossible team fight.
@@vilgot6185 Reins have this think where they solo charge into 5 enemies and die instantly but blame it on heals, i swear like 70% of rein teammates ive had are actually brain dead

Thank you so much for such great educational content, always appreciate you helping me improve on concepts that I haven’t been able to learn from just my experience yet
what's really holding me back is not having the KDA scoreboard button working. it just flashes on and off, even if I hold it. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE TEAMS ARE
Tank is far more like chess as Flats puts it, since for every tank there is at least one counter, and often to do well against that tank (at least in actually good games) you need to play their counter, which means they'll switch to yours, so you'll switch, so they'll switch, etc. etc.
The amount of times I flank behind and force the enemies to make that decision is unreal. The issue is my team NEVER follows up on it. The tank never distracts the tank, leaving me to get annihilated when flanking
Loads of chess concepts apply to OW. The match is like a chess game, and each team fight is also a mini chess game. DPS role to me is like being the major pieces i.e. Queen or Rooks. You die easily, but you have the potential to make plays especially if you have support. You want to arrive fashionably late to the party. If you activate them too early, and with no backup, they get focused. They become stronger later in the fight. 1. Material is the raw combined strength in chess. Getting a pick in OW is like having a material advantage. 2. Space in chess is pretty much the same goal: limit your opponent's movement while having lots of options yourself. Space advantage is important because it creates opportunities for game-ending tactics (Tracer gave up space, leading to you almost killing Mercy) 3. Sometimes the best move in chess is one that changes nothing, a "waiting move." It's like as DPS you are hiding behind the enemy waiting to Ult, in the right place but the wrong time because your team is coming from spawn. 4. Ebb-and-flow is like knowing who has the initiative. In chess having the initiative means you're setting the pace of the game by forcing your opponent to either respond to your move or lose. When Genji is deep in enemy territory and his team is in spawn, the enemy has the initiative. He can choose to respect the enemy advantage, give up space and retreat, or activate Blade and die.
I really need this video because I just started playing again and I've been gone since that one dnd season, and I just keep carrying and still getting bodied so this video helped a lot
Another thing I would mention is when you need to realize yourself that the enemy is a better player than you mechanically, this happens a lot in mirror matches and you need to get to a point where you are dueling someone playing your same character and you need to admit to yourself they are better and you need to stack up odds in your favor, this can be like having a helping hand in your team to even stuff out better or just simply to retreat and regroup, chances are your team will pull you out of the ditch or extend the fight to your favor.
love that the point about crossfire was made. as a junkrat main creating crossfire is a habit i've fallen into without being told it's good in a guide or smth, bc using junk's mobility to get around the enemy team and then force them to choose between letting me get picks or dealing with me and leaving themselves vulnerable to my team has always seemed like a natural move since he specifically has abilities that are very suited for it, and it's almost always led to immediate value. genuinely always wondered why i don't see many others trying it, so this video confirming that it's smth not a lot of people do was kinda cool bc i was wondering if i was just somehow making some objectively bad strat work bc of my main's specific kit 😅
As my entire team gets melted by Zarya before I can even blink then leave spawn one by one and get picked. I will definitely not be turning the tide anytime soon.
You are an unbelievably good educator. You understand the material and you communicate it accessibly and in a way that has noticeably impacted my gaming experience.
I like your vids because it's about tactics. Thank you for making it and spreading this knowledge. The issue that I have in OW with DPS play that you need to do a consistent damage. You do damage, the target get healed, and repeat. I love tactics in all games and this game is not an exception. But tracking of the target is my personal hell for DPS role. Mostly, I play FPS games like Insurgency or Squad where you need few bullets to kill, your target is not fast and hitbox has same size for everyone. Even if I do damage and hit in OW, it's a lot of stress and self control for me. Anyway, thanks for the vid, pleasure to absorb this kind of knowledge

My personal problem is, I play support. And it feels like I'm this rule you have the least opportunity to make your own plays. You can keep dumb teammates alive and hope they win their duel with your help. But it's not easy to make your own picks without losing more than you gain. Support is also the role who needs to watch the crap their teammates do the most. As a tank you usually Frontline and don't see much what happens behind and on the side. You just wonder where everyone is when you die. As a dps, you might be on your own flank or duel. But the supports get to see all the orange outlines of their low health team as they scatter in different directions and get all kinds of walls in the way so you cannot heal them.

i think the biggest mistake that alot of people are making is that they have the idea that your team is supposed to follow up on whatever you're doing, and that you're the one who's meant to make plays.
whats better, 4 players having to be aware of what their dps is doing OR 1 player being aware of what the rest of their team is doing? Instead of trying to make your own openings, if you just play off of your team then you'll instantly find improvement
Well put
what about when I'm the tank is it not my job to make openings for them to follow
@@Guarrow it is what it is just get good if you are skilled enough u can carry
Nah it's not just you
Agreed
I know you
No fr the clips are so unnecessary
Nah it was very necessary. Loved every clip🤣
☝️Found the Reaper you never see in team fight 🫥

But as a tank you may not be doing a enough to top that from happening, one game doesn't define a trend
Tank is the easiest role to get solo value from

@@KA24DERACER OW2 has open queue and mystery as well. Open queue is in ranked too
@@poopyfartboi Yes but it is definitely the lesser played compared to the regular modes. When open queue was the only option for QP, it was obviously much more popular.
Its still an option, it can just take a while to find a game compared to role-locked games, and thats only going to get worse once the "new-game-smell" wears off and a lot of the games population leaves for their next flavor-of-the-month games.
A lot more skateboarding and running around a large desert than i remember in overwatch
this is all cool and dandy but no matter how you look at it, you can most definitely get held back my teammates.

Your guides have rapidly helped my understanding of OW, you approach the game at a much more cerebral level than other guides I've watched
Playing with your team is not the same as playing in close proximity to your team.
So you're the guy who keeps going way ahead of the team, getting jumped and killed every single time. 🤣

The clips from random games in the video really broke my focus. I feel like it would be better if you showed more of the top down view and stuff like that.

My team: shoots zarya to charge her up and complains of me flanking to try and kill their heals
Me: This is impossible to win if I don't flank
My team: damn you suck as a dps you're just screwing up all the time
Me: This is just sad..

Didn't know they introduced a skateboarding tank.
what's really holding me back is not having the KDA scoreboard button working. it just flashes on and off, even if I hold it. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE TEAMS ARE
Tank is far more like chess as Flats puts it, since for every tank there is at least one counter, and often to do well against that tank (at least in actually good games) you need to play their counter, which means they'll switch to yours, so you'll switch, so they'll switch, etc. etc.

this is the most educated video that i have ever seen in my life, it is like reading a textbook. Appreciate it
The amount of times I flank behind and force the enemies to make that decision is unreal. The issue is my team NEVER follows up on it. The tank never distracts the tank, leaving me to get annihilated when flanking
Yeah, when I flank, I just try to get the enemy team to split focus while not dying so maybe we can get a 3v4 and give your team the advantage.
the most common mistske i notice myself making is missing 80% of my shots
Space advantage is important because it creates opportunities for game-ending tactics (Tracer gave up space, leading to you almost killing Mercy)
Great video as always bro! Love to see it
I really need this video because I just started playing again and I've been gone since that one dnd season, and I just keep carrying and still getting bodied so this video helped a lot
gigantic clip has me crying man, why can i go back to times like that
so what if my tank runs in alone with no one there? I dont think that I can carry that as a dps
Thats why i live venture, when them is digging you see them from third person and u have much more information where everybody is
Another thing I would mention is when you need to realize yourself that the enemy is a better player than you mechanically, this happens a lot in mirror matches and you need to get to a point where you are dueling someone playing your same character and you need to admit to yourself they are better and you need to stack up odds in your favor, this can be like having a helping hand in your team to even stuff out better or just simply to retreat and regroup, chances are your team will pull you out of the ditch or extend the fight to your favor.
love that the point about crossfire was made. as a junkrat main creating crossfire is a habit i've fallen into without being told it's good in a guide or smth, bc using junk's mobility to get around the enemy team and then force them to choose between letting me get picks or dealing with me and leaving themselves vulnerable to my team has always seemed like a natural move since he specifically has abilities that are very suited for it, and it's almost always led to immediate value. genuinely always wondered why i don't see many others trying it, so this video confirming that it's smth not a lot of people do was kinda cool bc i was wondering if i was just somehow making some objectively bad strat work bc of my main's specific kit 😅
