    An excellent upgrade fella, little Aston looks like he's doing well, certainly a bundle of energy.

    Hey there, I use the Nulaxy FM Radio Transmitter Unit to Great Joy, on my X308.
    Very Cheap option, and I also like the Original Layout Radio/Cd Unit.
    I have to say, Alpine(Pro) did a great Job , on the Audio in the X308. it really comes to effect with High Quality Audio Music !
    A Great Joy when driving , especially because of the Silent Exhaust also !
    Greetings !

    I have the model AJ9800A radio with part no. LNC4100BA and my PCB for the cassette module looks quite different from yours. How did you figure out which pins to tap into? Do you happen to know which pins correlate to 16, 17, and 18 for my radio? I couldn't get any signal to come through when in tape mode.

    Hello, I need your help please. I have an 2002 XJR and I have the factory phone set up. I want to have EVERYTHING work as it should with full control of the buttons on the steering wheel phone function etc. Now, I have a Motorola T-650 Bluetooth set up that I'm going to be installing, wiring in all the connections into my phone harness into the center console, using my original mic etc.... Now, that will all work perfectly but I'd like to stream my phone. I don't want to hack up my CD player in the trunk and pull the interior out to get it wires to the CD changer. Is there a way to just go into my dash like you did and wire it in, so I can high jack the CD player audio? that way If I have the CD playing, it will actually be playing music from my phone and when the phone rings, It will pause my phones music and I can hit the phone button on the steering wheel or say, answer. I know wiring through the sound system wiring, I can make the Motorola Bluetooth work for the phone it self but I want to stream music as well. What is your suggestion, or would I just wire into the AI-Net and disregard have a CD player at all. I do still love my CD's, Or, should I get a higher end FM modulator and just do it that way? I ask because I want excellent quality with my Alpine sound system. Also, my car only has 13K miles and I don't want to monkey with perfection but I want full functionality. I hate that as of Dec 31, they sun downed all the analog phones. The cassette is a great way to go but I don't want to have to slip in one of those tapes, as they are loud and I don't want Bluetooth, as I'll be using my Motorola BT set up for that. I just need to to highjack an input.

      Thanks for the message John. I worked out how to do this modification from similar work forum members had done to Jaguar XK models, and I'm not an electronic engineer... just an enthusiastic hobbiest 😁 so I don't really have the skills to get the steering wheel buttons to work.
      But there is a nice chap called Ben Wilcox who has a website where you can buy a more advanced setup, I would have bought it myself if I was less stingey 😉. This is his a link to it: jagdroid.org/jagdroid-bt/jagdroid-cassette-bluetooth-user-guide-2000-2003/
      It's not quite factory, but it does give Bluetooth connection and skipping tracks using buttons on the original unit. Not sure why it does not give steering wheel control.

      @@chrisclark1825 thank for the reply!!!!! You might be a hobbyist but you’re wicked smart. I’ve got it figured out but just need an in for the steaming. I’m guessing I’ll just use an high end FM modulator for my input. I’d rather have a cleaner input but not willing to destroy a working CD player to achieve my music input. You’re boy is a real cutie for sure. He’s gonna be a real daddies boy. Great video and if I could figure out how to do the cassette thing without having that noisy insert I would do your way just not using the BT module. I take it you don’t use your phone any longer? I love the sound of the phone tuning on but I’m afraid I might lose that noise when I cut into that secondly harness. I’m not going to cut into the body harness since it’s a show car with just 13k miles. Thank for your response!

    Hello, is it possible to do the same modification but in the AJ9800R model ? - it is probably an earlier model than the one from the movie. Will the pin layout in the tape deck slot be the same in both models ?

    • @chrisclark1825
      @chrisclark1825  3 года назад

      Hi thats a good question, but sadly I don't know. I'm just doing this as a hobby so only know what I have done myself. You could always open up the unit and see if the boards are the same as mine.

  • @kotxjot

    Chris, how did you recognize the pin layout of the tape recorder connector? Does the tape deck have any symbol to compare with mine ?

    • @chrisclark1825
      @chrisclark1825  3 года назад

      I found the layout on a Jaguar forum where someone had done the same thing on a Jaguar XK8, and used a digital multimeter to work out which pin was which on mine. It turned out that tape deck part where the pins are is used on several Jag models.

    • @chrisclark1825
      @chrisclark1825  4 года назад +1

      Just had an experiment, and there is a noticeable volume level difference, when swaping between cassette/radio.
      These is also slight hiss at high volumes - I am guessing that is from the dummy tape.
      So I might have to break the connection to the cassette output on a future more in depth mod. Will also add something to balance the volume out.
      But this makes a nice cheap and easy audio input.

    Hi Chris, I hope Aston continues to go from strength to strength. I just bought my XJR & came across your Bluetooth mod. I will do the same & wondered if audio still comes through the car audio system on a phone call or just playing music ? Also did you try cutting the tape deck wires yet if the cassette is not going to be used to see if it eliminates any hiss ? Jeff

    • @chrisclark1825
      @chrisclark1825  3 года назад

      Hi Jeff - thanks for the kind comments. Aston is doing well.
      I actually found the audio was not 100% as I did it in the video, and I did indeed try cutting the audio tracks from the tape. This means the tape can no longer be used, but the audio is then perfect, so I'd recommend doing it. Of course a dummy cassette is still required to trick the head unit into outputting.
      I'm not sure if the audio comes through on a phone call using Bluetooth, I'll have to give it a try. But I have since bought a second Daimler, and repeated the mod using an audi jack instead of Bluetooth. When doing this waynI have noticed a phone call also comes through the car speakers, but stranger still the phone seems to use the speakers as a mic - or at least I think so; my wife says it sounds clear but a little tinny.

    Thanks so much🙏 I saw at JagDroid on YT this conversion the first time. However I was a little bit concerned to send my radio to the UK from Spain.
    Following questions to your modifications:
    A) there is no change in the connections eventhough for a XJR (X308) from the year 1998? I'm aware, that you said it's valid for all X308.
    B) the used dummy cassette is called how? Where can I purchase this?
    C) very helpful would be the link for the Bluetooth device including cables which you used.
    Thanks again🙋‍♂️

      Jagdroid is made by a chap called Ben Wilcox. I know him well and he us a lovely man, he is part of the Jaguar community in the UK, and he'll do a great job. But I did not want to spend that much.
      The connections on a pre-facelift car are slightly different, mine is a 2001 facelift. But I have also modified a pre-facelift car, as I now have a 1997 Daimler too. It had always been my intention to add instructions for older models to this video. I'll try and do that soon.

      @@chrisclark1825 yes, I understand you. It appears not very complicated to make this modification for Bluetooth. Maybe you find some time to give me a short response to my questions. Thanks again for the details🙏 I just purchased two weeks ago a left handed XJR from 1998 here over in Spain. A second hand car owned for more than 20 years. More or less happened the same to me when you purchased your second Daimler🙈 Cheers
