Astons Daimler - Replacing the Coil packs Daimler/Jaguar XJ (X308) Supercharged
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.3 года назад
It's been a while since the last video, but last November we had an engine check light, accompanied by rough engine tickover. We had read the fault codes with a cheap £5 code reader, to discover some of the coil packs needed replacing. This was causing a misfire. In order to clear our engine fault codes, we replace the coil packs, and while we are in there, we also do the spark plugs too.

Hello, I need your help please. I have an 2002 XJR and I have the factory phone set up. I want to have EVERYTHING work as it should with full control of the buttons on the steering wheel phone function etc. Now, I have a Motorola T-650 Bluetooth set up that I'm going to be installing, wiring in all the connections into my phone harness into the center console, using my original mic etc.... Now, that will all work perfectly but I'd like to stream my phone. I don't want to hack up my CD player in the trunk and pull the interior out to get it wires to the CD changer. Is there a way to just go into my dash like you did and wire it in, so I can high jack the CD player audio? that way If I have the CD playing, it will actually be playing music from my phone and when the phone rings, It will pause my phones music and I can hit the phone button on the steering wheel or say, answer. I know wiring through the sound system wiring, I can make the Motorola Bluetooth work for the phone it self but I want to stream music as well. What is your suggestion, or would I just wire into the AI-Net and disregard have a CD player at all. I do still love my CD's, Or, should I get a higher end FM modulator and just do it that way? I ask because I want excellent quality with my Alpine sound system. Also, my car only has 13K miles and I don't want to monkey with perfection but I want full functionality. I hate that as of Dec 31, they sun downed all the analog phones. The cassette is a great way to go but I don't want to have to slip in one of those tapes, as they are loud and I don't want Bluetooth, as I'll be using my Motorola BT set up for that. I just need to to highjack an input.

Thanks for the message John. I worked out how to do this modification from similar work forum members had done to Jaguar XK models, and I'm not an electronic engineer... just an enthusiastic hobbiest 😁 so I don't really have the skills to get the steering wheel buttons to work. But there is a nice chap called Ben Wilcox who has a website where you can buy a more advanced setup, I would have bought it myself if I was less stingey 😉. This is his a link to it: jagdroid.org/jagdroid-bt/jagdroid-cassette-bluetooth-user-guide-2000-2003/ It's not quite factory, but it does give Bluetooth connection and skipping tracks using buttons on the original unit. Not sure why it does not give steering wheel control.

@@chrisclark1825 thank for the reply!!!!! You might be a hobbyist but you’re wicked smart. I’ve got it figured out but just need an in for the steaming. You’re boy is a real cutie for sure. He’s gonna be a real daddies boy. Great video and if I could figure out how to do the cassette thing without having that noisy insert I would do your way just not using the BT module. I take it you don’t use your phone any longer? I love the sound of the phone tuning on but I’m afraid I might lose that noise when I cut into that secondly harness. Following questions to your modifications: A) there is no change in the connections eventhough for a XJR (X308) from the year 1998? I'm aware, that you said it's valid for all X308. Hi Jeff - thanks for the kind comments. Aston is doing well. I actually found the audio was not 100% as I did it in the video, and I did indeed try cutting the audio tracks from the tape. This means the tape can no longer be used, but the audio is then perfect, so I'd recommend doing it. Of course a dummy cassette is still required to trick the head unit into outputting. I'm not sure if the audio comes through on a phone call using Bluetooth, I'll have to give it a try. But I have since bought a second Daimler, and repeated the mod using an audi jack instead of Bluetooth. When doing this waynI have noticed a phone call also comes through the car speakers, but stranger still the phone seems to use the speakers as a mic - or at least I think so; my wife says it sounds clear but a little tinny.
