I really like the 7/8 riff in this song. Dave is really good at writing strange, albeit badass riffs.

Megadeth's most overlooked song along with captive honour. Used to bang this classic on everyday when I woke up when I was a teen. My dad used to bang on the ceiling to the tempo. He was obviously a fan too 🤘🤣🤘

Song was inspired by a book actually titled The Architecture Of Aggression, about the underground facilities used during the Nazi reign of terror. Many people have died in the architecture of a lot of countries. Yet it's just the leaders who are noted as so great in the struggle. The bible talks about the brick makers who stomped the mud and straw and would be left to die in the mud pits. Ultimately, the bricks would be made out of their sweat and blood."

This is my favorite megadeth album. The songs are tighter than previous albums and I think it has the best version of dave Mustaine, vocally.

R.I.P. Nick Menza (drums) who put in a stellar performance on this 1992 Megadeth record 'Countdown to extinction'. One of Dave Mustaine's best songs... it was about the nazi aggression during World War II. One particular incident was 'kristallnacht' or 'night of broken glass' in 1938 executed in Germany by the nazi paramilitary forces against Jews, while German authorities stood by... Jewish buildings were destroyed and people were killed in the dark of night... it was the precursor to Hitler's "final solution" genocide of Jews.

It was the time of the first Iraq war.

I think what Sori noticed about this one that was different was that most of Megadeths classics are speed metal staples whereas this one is slower, more rythm and groove oriented and not as complex with the riffs which is what the band was going for with this album specifically.

One of my favorite songs. My first real concert was, Cheektowaga New York, still got the shit I bought with lawn maintenance at 13/14 years old. Korn, Fear Factor, and blah, Flatsome and Jetsom. Awesome show. Much love to you and all watching the content you bring us all.

Now what's cool to me is how this record and Youthanasia were both written with a lot of songs in the 120bpm range to get that radio play tempo, but Megadeth NEVER lost that sick, aggressive edge on those albums.

Look at a current "architecture of aggression" in Myanmar, Southeast Asia... In 2017, the Myanmar junta ('Tatmadaw') backed by police in the Rakhine province mounted a campaign of genocide against the Rohingya Muslims of the region, blaming "separatists" for "acts of violence". But the authorities murdered civilians, brutalized and raped women & children, sending 1 million Rohingya refugees fleeing into neighboring Bangladesh and India. Over 24,000 Rohingyas were senselessly killed by Myanmar uniforms, their villages were burned to the ground, & their possessions were all looted.
Myanmar's elected PM Aung San Suu Kyi DENIED those crimes against humanity and backed the military forces in their brutal campaign, sparking international outrage, despite the evidence, footage and eyewitness accounts.
Suu Kyi won the majority in Myanmar's democratic elections in 2020, defeating the pro-military candidate. In February 2021, the military junta under Gen. Min Aung Hliang refused to recognize the results of the elections. They turned their guns on Suu Kyi, arrested her, charged her w/ election fraud, convicted and jailed her (Thanks for backing the genocidal military)
As a result, Myanmar is currently in a civil war with resistance groups fighting the Myanmar military for control of the country. The lesson is: if you let murderous armed factions execute their genocidal tendencies on unarmed civilians... watch out. Cos eventually, they will turn their weapons on you when they are done killing minority groups.

She is right kinda... Vin. When you have two warriors facing off across a battle field, or something along those lines, there is an expectation of death, or killing. You literally expect to kill or be killed. That is the reality you live in at that moment. As a civilian just walking down to the corner store, you don't walk out the door with the expectations of killing or being killed.
When a killer stalks the streets looking to kill... They in a sense are bringing war to you if you become that target. The stakes may not be the gains of ground or commodity, but in that moment if you fight to live, then you are in a mini "war" of sorts. A struggle to survive, and killing or being killed is the prize/price at the end. Not all war is country vs country.

I've said it before, killing is killing whether done for duty, profit, or fun.
Being a Norseman, that means one has to give me a damn good reason to do so, but I won't be happy about it... I won't feel bad, but I won't be happy about it.
Any time someone says "for the greater good", run.
7, your reason for the US doing what it's doing regarding the USD is correct.
Vin, I'm 6'3", barrel chest, resting "murder" face.... I project something. LOL I live in one of the worst parts of town (dealers, drive bys, muggings...) and have done so for 12 years and no one has messed with me. You project, everyone does. Most I ever have now is a wallet knife (20 years ago, a bayonet strapped to my leg).
The "superiors" don't go out because they are not "expendable". All the foot soldiers can be replaced. They are fodder.

    17:19 (for context)
    17:29 (more context)
17:38 WTF Sori? If it was one of YOUR kids? What makes YOUR kids better than anyone else's? Why is it okay if it's YOUR kid but no ANY kid? That's f*cked up and completely selfish.
I don't give a rat's as WHOSE kids, whose spouse, whose friends, whose family - if there's some scumbag predator that needs to be put down, I WILL GLADLY DO IT and not lose a wink of sleep over it.
The person who reveres the bible and "God" won't do what is right because it is right, but instead will only do it IF it serves/benefits/affects her personally.
Meanwhile the person who rejects all that superstitious horseshit is free to observe and assess that a threat is a threat and NO ONE is more or less deserving of having justice served by the permanent removal of said threat.
    What else is new.

Screw that "only if you KNOW (with whom) you are at war" crap.
For a religious person, either "Thou shalt not kill" means something or it doesn't.
Personally all the religious superstitious nonsense convolutes the objective facts, which are : killing is justified if it is for survival/sustenance, OR, to eliminate a genuine threat (be it to the individual or the whole of society). Screw the shit argument about "killing the killer won't bring back the victims" - it's NOT ABOUT bringing back the dead ; it's about PREVENTING ADDING TO them.

Lol do you guys never ever check out an album on your own after reacting to a few songs from that album? You've reacted to several songs from this album already, did you never think to check out the rest of it already? I guess this is your primary business/job and there's no profit motive to check out any new music on your own.
Anyways, you should check out High Speed Dirt next. Best song on the album.
