Great reaction guys. lyrically Mustaine really makes you think outside the box. Countdown to Extinction really needs to be reviewed as whole album to really understand how far hes ahead of the game.
He isn't so much ahead of the curve, history just repeats itself. He just recognizes it while it's happening and documents it in songs.
When Dave Mustaine first started Megadeth after getting fired from Metallica, he got together with a guy called Robbie. Mustaine recalled during a Hardradio.com Shockwave podcast: "He was playing these really weird chords that I used in the song 'Looking Down the Cross.' And I was always really interested in those chords. And I was kind of goofing around a little bit and came up with the progression that ended up being the embodiment of the verses for 'Dance In The Rain.'"
This features a vocal contribution from Device and Disturbed frontman David Draiman. It came about when Mustaine was at Draiman's house listening to Device and some of the Trivium record he had just produced.
Listened to this album a lot of times since it came out... just today reading the comments i realized David Draiman was a guest in this, i used to think that that voice was Dave's with a lot of effects or something like that lol

Check out either Orkan or Myr. Orkan has some pretty anti-islamic lyrics, but keep in mind Norwegian Black Metal has been consistently critical of any religion, so don't strike it down as just plain racism, it's not discrimination if you hate everyone. ;) And Myr has banjo, which is pretty original for Blackmetal, so there.

I'm not sure about this. I know Megadeth have been political for a long time but often the music makes up for that (this is not one of those occasions however). I like escapism in my music, I have to face reality when I open the front door each day so why would I want to prolong that via music? Also I don't like celebrities who preach or insist on shackling themselves to a fashionable standpoint and just dismissing other points of view which seems to happen all the time now. And then they can't figure out why the people who have been ignored, belittled, looked down on become angry and resentful. They talk about myopia in their music but they are very guilty of it themselves.
I listen to your music reactions here. Ill go to your other pages for the political opinions. If you are going to collapse them..then collapse them. Sometimes we need a reliable place for what content will or will not be covered.
