Thank you for coming to Brunei. If a person shaking and kiss your hand that mean they respect the person older than them. (Cultural reason but still practice today) 😊
the Arabic script you see is actually jawi! countries like malaysia, indonesia, brunei, and singapore adopted and added a few extra consonants (like ڤ, it makes a ‘P’ sound) so that we could use it to write malay/indonesian languages. however, ever since colonisation, our writing script has changed to using roman alphabets. sadly, this change is greatest in singapore, probably because the common language here is english, while it makes sense for countries like brunei to retain jawi because they have a very high muslim population and the common language is Malay. the only jawi i ever get to use here in Singapore is to write my name on my identity card. 😢
@@WaleedTravelsJawi script is still officially being used in Johor state especially by the Islamic department where all our marriage documents are written in Jawi, and also street names 😊

The Arabic writing is in Jawi but noy Arbaic. The goverment praise aiso Bahasa Melayu/Malay Language in Jawi so thst people of Brunei adored the script.
Alhamdulliah you came to Brunei. I never expected for you to visit this country since its still rare for travelers to come here due to what it portrays in the international media without ever going to know what it felt like really. For your information, Muslims in Brunei is only around 66% despite the majority, we are still quite diverse culturally and ethnically as we are still Bornean by heart. Secondly, the Arabic script aren't really Arabic but its still Malay, in Jawi script rather than Latin script you normally see in public. The only Arabic words that is displayed in public is Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akhbar, Masha Allah and other words that is usually found in the Quran. I enjoyed seeing your videos and I hope you have a wonderful time in Brunei.

I grew up in Brunei until secondary school. Kuih Malaya is my old favorite and still, and it's also called Apam Balik in Malaysia and Martabak Manis in Indonesia. Some religious folk still use the Jawi script.

@@nutzhazel thats relative, i used to have roommates from johor and me being from KL they are deemed religious. I barely read jawi cant even remember if i had a formal education in one and absolutely cant write it.
Technically it is not Arabic but Jawi, which is derived from the Arabic script, Some characters are modified to suit the Malay phonetic. The Malay language can be written in two forms, Jawi or Romanised.
Jawi script (arabic based letters) written on the business premises is depend on the state/ country authority eg. In Pahang - east coast of Msia the state imposed compulsary jawi scripts on the buss premises. You also should visit east coast of Msia eg Terengganu Kelantan and Pahang (90% muslim states in Msia).
