@@BrentTimm Yep the prayer you were doing is called dua in arabic. Whereas the five prayers (subh, duhr, asr, maghrib, isha) are called salat in arabic. But in english we only have one translation of these two words. That´s why you may have gotten confused😅
normally mosques are open for all whether Muslim or not, you can go in and ask questions to the imam after the prayer(you can still enter the mosque and experience the others praying so long as you don't interrupt which i urge you to do for the fajr, maghrib or isha) and inquire whatever. good way to start getting educated on islam as a non muslim

I was christened a catholic due to my grandparents my parents dont believe there a GOD... i reverted to islam 2001 covered from day 1 best thing i ever did Alhamdulillaah. I am the only practicing muslim in my family. Few family members have reverted but do it when they want. Me i fully cover head to toe. I make Dua my children come back to deen the 4 that dont practice and i make dua my parents and siblings revert for the sake of Allaah. As its the true deen Aameen. Its good to know about other religions so u can answer questions and see where they come from

😊 In Sahor Time (Morning) You can eat anything Like (Pratha, Biryani kabab.etc) & Breaking Fast (Iftar) Its Not must but batter to start from Dates (Dates are full of nutrients) If dates not available Water salt or anything Breaking Fast With Dates Its Sunnah(Sunnah Means Way Of Prophet PBUH). And break-in fast time (Iftar) you should start break-in with dates (if available) otherwise and after you can eat any Hilal Things. Love & Respect & Very Thanksfull from Pak (DXB).

For sahur, I'd just have a red bean bun and 500ml water. Alhamdulillah, it's sufficient for a typical day of office work. Interestingly, stomach is 'trained' to shrink in Ramadhan. For buka, I'd start with a sip of water and medjool date, preferably a 350g balanced meal and pace the water intake to avoid flushing out electrolytes. Totally get the excitement the day before Ramadhan especially when we can start the special prayers the night before. Respect for your sincerity to walk in other's shoes. 💚

A lot of Muslims do limit their physical activity- we try to pace ourselves. So it’s brave to work out while fasting at least early in the day. We usually will work out toward the end of the day. But what works for you is best. I love your effort. ❤ Also , you don’t have to pray out loud. It can be private and it is not selfish to pray for yourself to be guided. But it shows how beautiful your heart is.

It's difficult for me to understand why you were unable to enter the mosque. The thought that someone might be prevented from entering is beyond belief to me. When people, whether they are Muslim or not, enter a mosque, it's crucial that they show respect to the worshippers. Everyone should be welcomed with openness and compassion.
When I heard Catholic, it always reminded me of Yusha Evan's story and other Catholic friends or people online. Salam. Great video. Appreciate your prayers (duas/supplication) Dates can be eaten at suhoor, but it's sunna (tradition or ways of the prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم) to be eaten at iftar (breakfast).

God accept your prayers, as it's the spiritual connection to God. As far as opening the fast with dates as a practice (Sunnah) of the Prophet (peace be upon him), its because date is a complete food, packed with almost all nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants) the body needs, especially iron as its dark colour depicts. It immediately enriches your blood after hours of fasting. God bless you Brent and keep you under His protection always, Amen.

😊 In Sahor Time (Morning) You can eat anything Like (Pratha, Biryani kabab.etc) & Breaking Fast (Iftar) Its Not must but batter to start from Dates (Dates are full of nutrients) If dates not available Water salt or anything Breaking Fast With Dates Its Sunnah(Sunnah Means Way Of Prophet PBUH).
And break-in fast time (Iftar) you should start break-in with dates (if available) otherwise and after you can eat any Hilal Things.

For sahur, I'd just have a red bean bun and 500ml water. Alhamdulillah, it's sufficient for a typical day of office work. Interestingly, stomach is 'trained' to shrink in Ramadhan. For buka, I'd start with a sip of water and medjool date, preferably a 350g balanced meal and pace the water intake to avoid flushing out electrolytes.
Totally get the excitement the day before Ramadhan especially when we can start the special prayers the night before.

A lot of Muslims do limit their physical activity- we try to pace ourselves. So it’s brave to work out while fasting at least early in the day. We usually will work out toward the end of the day. But what works for you is best. I love your effort. ❤
Also , you don’t have to pray out loud. It can be private and it is not selfish to pray for yourself to be guided. But it shows how beautiful your heart is.
Narrated Imam Malik that Isa (Jesus) ibn Maryam said: "Do not speak much without mention of Allah for you will harden your hearts, and a hard heart is far from Allah but you do not know. Do not look at the wrong actions of people as if you were lords, but look at your wrong actions as if you were slaves. Some people are afflicted by wrong action and some are protected from it. It's difficult for me to understand why you were unable to enter the mosque. The thought that someone might be prevented from entering is beyond belief to me. When people, whether they are Muslim or not, enter a mosque, it's crucial that they show respect to the worshippers. Everyone should be welcomed with openness and compassion.

In fact, if someone converts to islaam because they´ll get more followers, then they´re not muslim even from an islamic perspective.
One is muslim only if they believe that there is only one God and that Mohammad is his final prophet and messenger, and that islam is God´s religion.
Btw subh, dohr, asr, maghrib and isha (the salah prayers) are different from the rayers you were doing (dua prayers).

Dates can be eaten at suhoor, but it's sunna (tradition or ways of the prophet, صلى الله عليه وسلم) to be eaten at iftar (breakfast).

Your 5-time prayers are very beautiful Brent, as it really came from your heart. God accept your prayers, as it's the spiritual connection to God.
As far as opening the fast with dates as a practice (Sunnah) of the Prophet (peace be upon him), its because date is a complete food, packed with almost all nutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants) the body needs, especially iron as its dark colour depicts. It immediately enriches your blood after hours of fasting.
