I'm new to your channel. And I already have to disagree with you. In my opinion you have probably given me the best critique of this song that I've ever heard. My only argument is that it wasn't long enough. So I appreciate that and keep doing what you're doing.
I feel better for the future of your generation after seeing you up there knowing the lyrics already!! Yes! I hope you're able to bring all this great music to other people your age, we've all got to keep great music alive! This album was from my early high school yrs, been a Prince fan since his first album came out when I was in middle school. Had all these on vinyl. Saw them during the Purple Rain tour twice! We're so lucky we had Prince with us long enough to bring so much joy and happiness with his music. And he did stuff behind the scenes with a lot of charities & social movements, supporting great causes, too.
Yea, the music video is shorter than the full album version. The lords prayer wasn’t in the video which is in the album version. Even so, such a great song!
Also, they cut out the great ending to the song: "People call me rude. I wish we all were nude. I wish there was no black and white, I wish there were no rules."
Controversy was all punk ….My mother actually had this record and i used to borrow it and I’ll listen to it way down low with my ear to the speaker cause I knew it was nasty and I loved it.😂😂😂 The man is the reason that I listen to everything that I listen to today …he is the reason I can’t go to a wedding and hear dearly, beloved, without blushing… He’s the reason I have 18 favorite guitar players, including Slash, Eric Clapton, Kirk Hammett, Stevie Ray Vaughan, the young brothers…
Yay, your mom raised you well!! This era of Prince was high school for me, I'm so glad that young people are still getting to hear & experience him. And your list of guitarists is killer, love them all. How about Jimi Hendrix, too? Purple Haze, Voodoo Child, All Along the Watchtower etc...he's a GOAT of GOATS, just ask SRV 😁
@@mztweety1374 Ah, so you're GenX, too! No wonder you have great taste in music 😁. I'm the opposite, I was 4 when Jimi passed but I didn't know anything about him at that point, but I still listen to him all the time even now. My 19 yr old parents were Beatles' fans so that's what I heard first, but yeah, all that 60s, 70s & 80s music is the absolute best, and I'll die on that hill 🤣
Nice reaction. Yep, all those stories were swirling around in the press back then. He did his thing anyway - I've always admired that. Today my fav is Forever In My Life, it will be something different tomorrow though.
Whhhhhattt! I didn't realize the vid was so short, it left out some parts. Like the whole bridge! You can't always get what you want. Good reaction though! Left out part 👇 The Lord's Prayer followed by "People call me rude, I wish we all were nude, I wish there was no black and white, I wish there were no rules" Liv4luv 0(+->
It's kinda funny, when you said, "He didn't confirm or deny anything." First, we wouldn't know what local rumours about him were if he hadn't said. We can see (and he confirmed in film and interviews) that he is bi- or tri-racial, and eventually changed his name to a glyph he created that was a combination of the male and female symbols, plus an electric guitar. Second, you might want to check out his song, "When You Were Mine," from his 1980 album, "Dirty Mind." The lyrics leave little unsaid. I'm pretty sure he was bisexual, tho his main preference may have been women. I only bring it up, because I notice quite a few people reviewing his music, seemingly "straight-washing" his image, as if anyone suggesting he isn't totally straight is insulting him, so people gloss over him basically saying so, because it makes them uncomfortable. Not saying you are doing this, but it sounds familiar. Among his many excellent songs, some from the Batman soundtrack are great. The extended video for "Partyman" is super fun, while "Arms of Orion" is gentle and sweet. You can also compare contrast, "Got a Broken Heart Again" (from Dirty Mind) with, "The Beautiful Ones" (from Purple Rain). He runs the theme of having to compete with other men a lot, when singing about himself, but when he sings about love, it is all about the subject of his affection. There is the album version of this song that is extended which has the Lord's Prayer and the chanting. You should react to it.

I would like to see you react to Prince's, Automatic ( Official video ) and The Beautiful Ones ( Purple Rain cut)
❤ do offical 'Kiss' video🔥 Prince
Wow early Prince. That outfit he had on is what we would call clickbait today. Remember no internet in those days or social media.

You view a lot of the short versions of his videos
Also, he was a marketing genius, so he knew to make a song like this. And at such a young age, and especially these conversations in the early 80s.
