Prefer Prince. He's more in the vein of the artists and music that eye prefer. Sly and The Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Parliament etc. Not to mention the musicianship and lyrics. Just more my preference. Unfortunately u are going to have some people who think that to like one is ro dislike the other which is not true. U can enjoy both without slandering either. It's OK to have a preference but that preference doesn't mean u have to dislike one or the other.

Btw, to see one of Prince's greatest performances, I suggest watching his 1985 live performance of "America". He OWNS the stage. Also, I think you'd enjoy his 1988 live piano medley from his Lovesesy Tour in Dortmund.

Personally, Prince is my all-time favorite musician/singer. My favorite by him is "Eye Hate U" but as he says in one of his songs "Continental", he's got grooves and grooves up on the shelf. Deep purple concord jams!

I'll put it this way for the people in the comments debating MJ or Prince. I'm a fan of both and they are both legends in their own way. Michael didn't play instruments as he didn't have to, Prince could and DID. Michael was much more of a dancer, Prince was more of the musician. Love them both to death, no one can replace either of them.

2006 is also the year I was born and I’m very privileged to now own a piece of that jacket he threw to the crowd at 3:58. It was instantly ripped apart by the fans into many pieces and a few people got a piece of it. Every now and then pieces of them come up for auction and that is how I got mine, now I have a piece of it too, a piece of Michael Jackson history and music history that will last forever along with a couple of autographs from him as well apart of my MJ collection, and being a fan I’m very honored to have the privilege of owning the jacket piece now and it’s especially cool for me since it came from an incredible event that took place the year I was born.

I really like how he avoids to look in the camera the whole raspberry beret video. This makes the video so special, just one detail but so great. As religion seams so important to you, perhaps watch to a video of Anna Stesia of Prince? Or the Cross/the Christ?

My FAVORITE Prince song, hands down...

MJ is one of the 10 best performer's of all time. But Prince would wreck him 99/100 times and its no contest. AGain please seek out his live versions of America or Its going to be a beautiful night and understand how hard it is to have a band that tight live and its because Prince would rehearse the band 12 hours plus each off day he was a perfectionist in the best and worst of ways.....

@Hannah the 1999 album a double album is my 2nd favorite tied with Purple rain *Sign of the Times was my favorite and when Prince was at the height of his powers) but this was a very fun double bill of songs to see someone so young appreciate. Fun watch, fun react. The Around the world album was VERY heavily influenced by the Beatles (listen to the song Paisley park off that album)

@Hannah this was off his film Under the Cherry Moon in which he directed it, (at the cost of it being a better film if he did not sadly) A very uplifting song tho not my favorite on the album. For Prince sex and love and God were interchangeable. Many of his early works and albums showcased this. I see you did a lot of Michael Jackson you should seek out Prince plaining many of his hits out of respect I think it would make you smile as a Mj fan. He always respected MJ as many of us Prince fans do, we just get mad so many miss out Prince could and did 10x more then MJ was ever capable of.

@Hannah for many of us Prince has no equal.... he could play every instrument, as well as the best who ever did it, sang like few others, and write everything not just for himself but for numerous artists most known and unknown. If you want to see him at the peak of his powers watch his films Purple Rain and Sign of the Times, and look for his clips of "america: he did in the EU, also his piano medley he did in concert again in the EU, as well as "It;s going to be a beautiful night" all which will make your mouth gape not just as HIM but how tight he had the entire group on stage. hope you go down the rabbit hole it will help you love music 10x more. I’m currently 51 and as a kid I grew up listening to MJ, and going into the back catalog so to speak and listen to the Jackson 5. When I hit high school in 87’ I had moved over to listening to Prince more than MJ. My reason was that I felt I could relate and understand Prince’s music more. MJ for me wasn’t putting out enough music for myself. And after high school (Class of 90) 😂 Prince just evolved as he got older and his music was just chef’s kiss to me. Ya just can’t beat his live energy. I was fortunate to see him in 4 shows over the years. Each show was just amazing. This song is short but it has to fit under a certain time for radio....I Would Die 4 U was always too short....I think the more u like the song the faster it seems to end...funny how time flyz by when ur have fun! This is why I don’t watch Prince-related videos because his fans always say stupid things like "Prince is a better dancer than Michael, Michael is nothing compared to Prince" and some other disgusting things. For me growing up in Kyoto Japan my parents were heavy into Jazz & blues. So prince being an elite musician, playing over 20 instruments, they always played Prince everyday & i would hear them play mostly the jackson 5 stuff or MJ'S off the wall album. For me personally what MJ did dance wise is what Prince did for me with instruments. No offense to the common pop crowd but if you hang with them they don't even know the difference between an electric guitar or bass & usually a 4 minute piano solo bores them to death. We saw this when we watched the Kendrick vs Drake battle, where the Drake fans only obseseed of numbers and views but the amount of records you sale doesn't define the greater art. Prince has my soul & MJ has my heart. I think the world needed both of them, even tho they had totally different approaches to music. I sometimes feel that they were twins flames in a way. They had a rivalry but also people made it more toxic than it was. There's literally stories from bands members of MJ & Prince hanging out privately. Lenny Kravitz for example has a story on hanging with both Prince & MJ in the studio together. We all know as Prince fans that Prince wasn't going to be around someone he didn't like & we all know as MJ fans that MJ wasn't going to hang out with someone he didn't like as well. So clearly their rivalry was not that toxic. Also when MJ was going through that horrible court trial, Prince publicly defended him it's on youtube. Prince never spoke ill of MJ & kenny ortega on the Oprah interview said that MJ loved Prince & played Purple Rain a lot. Kenny also asked MJ to take break during This is it rehearsal & MJ said " i can't do that because God will give the ideas to Prince." MJ also clearly respected Prince too & MJ never talked about any other artist like that. I'm more a Prince fan but overall i love MJ too. I like more so his earlier work from off the wall & before. I just want to imagine if our generation brought both fan bases together. We'd be stronger than Taylor Swift and Beyonce combined! 🤗

I'm 60 and grew up on MJ then I got turned onto Prince at 18 and it has been team Prince forever.

Whenever I hear this song I imagine galloping on a horse. Scoping out the hip movements notice the legendary 24k hip chain. Only Prince could get away wearing a cutoff like that. Love the lyrics to this little ditty too. "Love will conquer if you just believe, Oh Yeah!" Good choice, one of my favorite non-hits. I cried like a baby when The Revolution played it on one of their tour stops I went to. So weird not seeing Prince on stage with them, just a microphone stand upfront where he would've stood.
