I bought ZR2 about three weeks ago. Mine has the same packages. Yours has the convenience three III. The safety package, power, sunroof, package. It’s stickered for around 53K with transportation and everything. I got them to take 6000 off to me. There is absolutely no comparison between the features in my Colorado ZR2 and any other midsize truck out there in the market. I had a jeep Wrangler and I really still like the Jeep brand but didn’t want a gladiator. I have owned two Tacoma’s previously and went looking at the Tacoma first. I had terrible experiences at Toyota dealers who had big markup stickers on the 2024’s. Then I saw all the issues that were having on the Tacoma and that got me looking around. Once I researched and found the Colorado it became a no-brainer pretty quickly. Chevy dealers are dealing on the price of the Colorado and I think now they’ve put some special financing together too. Bottom line, the Colorado is really a proper truck. It’s larger inside and outside than the Tacoma, and it has a much more composed ride and more capable off-road features. The fact that has front and rear lockers with a 3 inch lift and 33 inch tires makes it an absolute beast. Suppressing what a off-road capable of doing. And for less money. I basically purchased a truck with the features about $15,000 more expensive Tacoma not including the dealer markups. With all that savings I just spent a couple grand and extended the warranty to eight years at 100,000 miles. And I’ll echo your comments on the 2.7 turbo. It’s been in service for six years and there’s many of them out there on Sierras that have gone over 200,000 miles without any problems. If you go to nhtsa.com and look for recalls and complaints. The engine has a stellar record. I don’t buy anything without doing a ton of research and I am 100% satisfied with my decision to buy the Colorado. ZR2. I’m enjoying your channel, thanks for letting people know about the Chevy proposition
I couldn't agree more! I didn't do much research on the 5.4L Triton so that was one of the majors things I wanted to reseach when buying a new truck. I think the Turbo 4cyl in great in the Colorado and I absoluetly love the sounds of that turbo. Thanks so much for your support! 😎
My buddy took me off roading in his Colorado and I fell in love with it’s features and capabilities. I just bought my ZR2 and will be reviewing all your videos. Good job, keep on keepin on
I bought the ZR2 fully loaded off road machine a few weeks ago. So far loving it. 17.3 mpg city. After getting my hard top tri fold topper. $400 topper is perfect, I upgraded latching for tighter security. Local truck place toppers were $1200 plus. Going to build my own little add on step ups on rock slides. Level up next.
I will be picking up my 24 ZR2 on Friday… thanks for helping inspire my choice to purchase this truck. I test drove many different vehicles but the ZR2 was my favorite by far. I had a deposit on a Toyota Tacoma Off-road and got my money back and worked a deal on the ZR2… excited! It is the same color as yours and I am so stoked!
@@GeorgiaZR2 Actually I’m not a bro… I’m an adventurous woman and I love, love, love my new ZR2. I’ve been busy accessorizing it… so far I installed the Rubygrid, retrax tonneau cover, elevate ladder rack & Thule aero kayak racks. Great truck! I’ve only taken it off road once but it was so much fun… have you been on the Iron Star Trail off of Braswell Mountain? Very nice.
@@drkvdreamer I love that! You are really getting after it! The Rubigrid is amazing and a retractable tonneau cover is next for me. I haven't been there yet but it looks fun. Did you do it in your ZR2?
Great job on this video, My lease is up next August on my Tacoma and I'm not getting another one, I love my truck and it has been trouble free, the pricing on the new Tacoma is ridiculous, You just sold me me on this truck
Thanks so much for watching and your support! I started off interested in the Tacoma because of how much people love them but I agree- I couldn't justify the price. You'll love the Colorado!
Got mine just over 2 weeks ago. Same features as yours. LOVE it. I had a Ranger Raptor ordered 6 months ago. Never came, which is fine, because they have, in most cases, an ADM of 10K to 15K. What are they smokin'? BTW, I've been a Ford/Toyota guy for 50+ years. This is only my second Chevy. Keep yer posts comin'!
Thanks for your support! 😎It's crazy how impossible it can be to get the truck you want in the current market! When I drive by dealerships, their lots are way more empty than 6-7 years ago.
@@GeorgiaZR2 Long story short. After giving up on the Raptor, I ordered my ZR2 from a local dealer, in Central Oregon, on May 30. Chevy received my order but never accepted it after 10 weeks. Found 2 that matched my order exactly in transit to a dealer 163 mile away. When the first one arrived, my dealer tried to make a trade, but no success. I contacted the dealer and the rest is history. It had to have convenience pac III, sunroof, tech pac and the audio sys. Oh, and Sand Dune Metallic.
I ended up with the 2024 GMC Canyon AT4X...traded in my Ram 1500...I can deal with the loss of back seat space considering all the options that it comes with, including front and rear lockers.
Happy for your purchase! I went from a 2019 Colorado Z71 to a 2022 Silverado LT Trail Boss. I loved my Colorado but I’m not going to lie, I don’t miss the smaller interior space! Mostly for my two rapidly growing sons. Hope it treats you well 👍
I bought a Colorado ZR2 in 2017 and loved it. I bought a 2022 Toyota TRD Off-Road 4x4 premium and hated the brakes. I now own a 2024 Canyon AT4X and love it
Congrats on your ZR2! I upgraded my '22 Colorado Z71 about a month ago from Hendricks in Duluth (I noticed the hat - Go Dawgs!) and I've been in love with it since. The Z71 was a great little truck and was surprisingly capable for being a 2WD, but I wanted something with a little more off-road muscle and the ZR2 hits almost every sweet spot in that category. Still breaking it in with a little over 1,200 miles put on it, but 18-21mpg are what I've been getting on a regular basis. I hope this ZR2 lasts a good, long time because I don't see me parting with it any time soon.
Go Dawgs! Congrats on yours as well! I couldn't find one locally (I looked at all the dealerships around Gwinnett and North GA) when I was searching but I'm seeing them more and more often recently. I'm close to 10k and so far ir's been great.
Went with the ‘24 Colorado ZR2 earlier this year. Love driving it around the desert and forests here in AZ. Can’t compare it to anything though as my previous vehicle was a motorcycle lol
Drove the foriegn competition and the Raptor and the ZR2 with convenience package was the winner to me. Bought the ZR2 in Radiant Red and very happy with it.
I looked at all the midsize trucks & the ZR2 is the best looking by far; also the most capable at about $50K (depending on options). The Ford Ranger Raptor would probably be my top choice overall, but I can’t find one for under $60K. Anyhow, absolutely solid choice! 🇺🇸👍🏻
I also was looking to get a ZR2 -- back in April 2021 that is -- but couldn't get one. Not only were Chevy dealership lots pretty bare of almost all new vehicle inventory, GM's chip shortage was serious back then so "my" ZR2 (put $1K down on it) was parked at the GM Assembly Plant in Wentzville MO with 20K other Colorados awaiting their chips. With no ETA date available from GM, I bailed on the ZR2 and within 2 days got a Jeep Gladiator (Rubicon) off a dealer's lot -- no shortages at Jeep dealerships as they had plenty of Wranglers/Gladiators to choose from. Anyway, talking about the "price points" these trucks are going for nowadays, my Gladiator was $50,263 and the ZR2 was $41K. What a difference compared to prices today! BTW, at just over 3 years of ownership my Jeep's been fine...made the best choice even though it was "by default." And were I needing to buy a new mid-size truck TODAY, I'd go Gladiator (Rubi) again, not a ZR2. And unlike the "better than Jeep" brands -- Ford, Mazda, GM, BMW and Toyota -- no recalls on my Jeep...not even any TSBs. Nice. And, I like the N-A V6 gas engine as well (did not want anything turbo, diesel or even EV). ;-) "Jeep Wave" (It's a Jeep thing) -- BR
I really did (and still do) like most everything about the Rangers. If it was closer to $50k, I would have had a hard choice between the ZR2 and the Raptor. I always wanted an F150 Raptor too.
@@GeorgiaZR2 For me, I the full-size segment was out of the question, so I was restricted to the mid-size segment only. And it had to be a "serious off-road-focused 4x4" right from the factory -- no mods needed. The "serious 4x4" mid-size SUVs were off my Short List because they couldn't tow enough so I HAD to get a truck instead. But FULL size anything was out for several reasons (so no TRX, Power Wagon, Raptor -- whatever). Also, anything full-size wouldn't fit into my apt's small 1- car garage length-wise (but pretty tight width-wise as well). And it didn't need a big engine (V8 or something turbo). Finally, full-size is too big/heavy/wide for the tight trails/mountain passes and switchbacks in many parts of CO. Sure, you can still DO those trails/passes with with a full-size truck, but it's "scarier" (for me!) so no thanks. And a bonus: "Colorado Pin-Striping" is greatly reduced with a skinnier vehicle...all reasons why Wranglers/Gladiators are "skinnier" than their competition (yet being a "box," the cabin feels plenty spacious whereas the others don't). And being skinnier it fits into a standard parking place in the city better so it's less likely to get door-dings from other cars (and the rock-rails/sliders may damage their doors so THAT'S a deterrent). ;-) The only thing I don't like is the MPG numbers...but that goes for the other "off-road-focused/serious 4x4s" as well, so I live with it. -- BR
Wife and I did a full circuit a month ago, test driving Gladiator Rubicon, Colorado ZR2, and new Tacoma TRD Off-Road. Gladiator was roomiest on inside with Colorado not far behind. 24' Tacoma also didn't have rear AC vents, and I live in Texas, so no go there. Toyota was way off with their trim pricing. On top of that, they need to take note of Colorado / Canyon's standard features and package pricing. Upgrades within a trim should be subtle, not feel like you're stepping into a completely different tier of vehicle. That's what it's like going from a TRD Off-Road standard build to their $8800 premium package. Ranger Raptor feels like it's just sitting alone there, and Ford forgot the rest of the Ranger trims. I think they were really putting all their resources into pushing the Maverick instead, and had just enough time to make their super ranger that is barely a ranger in comparison to the lower trims. GM can leave the G80 in like the Z71, but they need to put a selectable rear locker in the Trail Boss and AT4. I think they could have pulled a few more Taco loyalists if they had.
This is probably one of the best breakdowns I've read comparing a fews different mid size trucks. Especially when talking about Ford. I completly agree.
Agreed except I’m struggling to love the back seat leg room. I can’t see inviting friends to dinner with me driving and stuffing them back there. I want a mid size truck with the space of my Outback.
You are right about the backseat space. Luckily for me, my wife and I are the only ones who ride in the truck- I rarely used the backseats in my F150 so losing that legroom wasn't a big deal for us but I can see it scaring off a lot of potenial buyers.
I will be looking to get a GMC Canyon AT4 in the Spring but also test drove the Colorado,ZR2 and liked it. Now I have a Jeep Gladiator and to get another one with the features I want would be 60,000 No way when I can get a canyon or Colorado for 10 grand cheaper and a lot more tech and features. Basically more for your money
Just bought "24" LT version, previously owned 2011 Silverado LT, 5.3 4 door, only complaint on the Colorado is the jack box under rear seat, no floor space when up rear seats, had some much room in Silverado. trying to find out if you can remove that jack box for more floor space. any thoughts ?.
I have a ZR2 Bison and I love it . I had a Z71 Colorado and the ride of my new ZR2 Bison is hands down the best riding truck I have ever driven . I would like to know how to customize the dash?
Congrats man! I think I have a video on that but if not, press down on the icon and you will be able to rearrange them and add an icon to that left side vertical stack.
thank God for you not saying “without further ado”. I’m subscribing just because of that.😂 I’m in the San Francisco Bay Area market and currently looking for a ZR2. Just started the hunting process. I haven’t bought a new car in over 20 years. Not looking forward to the negotiation process with the dealerships. Great insight about while you purchased the Chevy thank you so much.
LOL! Good luck with your search! Any time I found one I was willing to buy, I called or messaged them and negotitated without going into the dealership. I would tell them I am ready to buy right now if we can make a deal I feel good about I would be there that same day. My deal was worked fully before I stepped into the dealership. All I did was sign papers and leave. Least stressful purchase of my life!
@@stlc3415 thanks for your support! The Canyon is so nice! Compared to the Colorado, I can see the value in the slight price difference between the 2 for sure. Great choice
Concerned about the 4 cylinder at all? I’m looking at mid sized trucks and looking at frontier, but the interior isn’t the best. I drive a ton so I need something that will last 200K miles
What kind of gas mileage have you been getting? I know it is rated 17 mpg cut & highway. I like ve the off-road features of this truck but will also be towing a travel trailer with it. My max weight of the TT is 3800 pounds so I think the 5k tow rating is adequate. What do you think?
Thanks for your reply. I think the tow rating is 6k not 5 k like my previous comment mentioned. One more question… is there a 12v outlet inside the console? I’m hoping so since I have an external backup camera monitor for my travel trailer that attaches to the windshield and needs one for power.
Hopefully you don’t run into any issues with it man… on my 2nd third gen. First one was a 23 Z71. Bought back by GM under lemon law at 20k miles. On the 2nd one now, it’s a ZR2. 6k miles and already had to have all 4 injectors replaced. Both of the Colorado’s I drove off the lot brand new.. Going to have this ZR2 bought back by GM if one more thing goes wrong with it and buy a Ranger Raptor. They’re beautiful trucks and have amazing performance for the price, but dang 😢
Mine fold up. I was worried about the backseat space too. I don't have any kids and we rarely used the backseats when we travelled in the F150 because I had a tonneau cover and my wife likes to stretch out on long drives.
I would buy a Colorado ZR2 cause I love them but just to let you know if the dealer didn’t tell you it’s got a turbo 4 cylinder in it and you would have to do way more frequent oil changes
Ok , I got your measurements... 75" to the top of the truck from the ground and an additional 8.5" on the antenna. So in total 83.5". I think you will probably fit but it's tight. I don't park in my garage but I've pulled my truck in there and it fit. I do think the antenna rubbed slighty if I recall correctly.
Sure, a premium trim of a midsize truck costs the same as a basic trim fullsize but that's the same for about any vehicle. For the features I wanted in my next vehicle, a full size truck was going to cost me $70-80k. A Silverado ZR2 is easily $80k where I got the Colorado ZR2 for under $50k. BIG price difference
I got mine a month ago. I traded my civic typer. I live in California and the road here is not good. I choose the zr2 because it look good and wide. I love the camera.
Oh fyi. You can get the 100k warranty through geico for 15.00 a month. Yes its real and it covers EVERYTHING Go get your money back for that 8yr warranty !
But does it have that stupid auto start-stop technology? I hate that feature and think it's the worst! Wont buy a car with that in it, I feel like its no. (Updated! I just heard you say it does have auto stop/start...so dang. I think thats a pass now...thanks for the video though... )
I have every extra option on my truck except the blick heater, and its hot pepper red. Paid 61k. Dont let dealerships fool you, yes its a rare truck BUT people also arent buying. If I didnt have a 19 trd pro taco that was almost paid off that the dealer gave me 40k on tradein for I wouldnt be in a new vehicle. Im not in the rich suburban liberal yuppie white collar class. So the truck actually has to work too, no garage queen.

Congrats man! I think I have a video on that but if not, press down on the icon and you will be able to rearrange them and add an icon to that left side vertical stack.
If Nissan Frontier had front and rear lockers id swoop it up in a heart beat. But the ZR2/Bison looks sexier imo
100% agree on both of those statements. The Frontier with lockers would be a NO BRAINER!
thank God for you not saying “without further ado”.
@@GeorgiaZR2 perfect, that really helps to know. let the hunt begin!! 😁 and keep the great videos
I dont know if I should get a Colorado Trail boss or a Fronteir SV. Don't really want to pay more then 30k.
Great content... I looked at all the off-road capable midsized trucks. I went with GMC Canyon AT4X. Love the truck so far and no issues.
@@stlc3415 thanks for your support! The Canyon is so nice! Compared to the Colorado, I can see the value in the slight price difference between the 2 for sure. Great choice
I got my zr2 for 61000 cad which was 44500usd with all the packages you have and more.
@@BrianDIYChannel congrats!! 😎
What city/ dealer I'm near Edmonton and starting to look
@@gordmonteath6090 I bought from Shaw GMC in Calgary. I got the employee pricing tho.
Great choice, congrats
Thank you!
Bought the ZR2 and it's great.......
Nice man! Glad you are enjoying it!
It would be perfect if it had a 6’ bed
Concerned about the 4 cylinder at all? I’m looking at mid sized trucks and looking at frontier, but the interior isn’t the best. I drive a ton so I need something that will last 200K miles
How is the oil Consumption on the turbo max engine?
I got in a habit of checking weekly because my F150 burned oil (a quart on average between oil changes) and haven't noticed anything
What kind of gas mileage have you been getting? I know it is rated 17 mpg cut & highway. I like ve the off-road features of this truck but will also be towing a travel trailer with it. My max weight of the TT is 3800 pounds so I think the 5k tow rating is adequate. What do you think?
@@drkvdreamer 18-22 mpg. Fluctuates a lot because I do a TON of mixed driving. I think you’d be perfectly fine towing that
Thanks for your reply. I think the tow rating is 6k not 5 k like my previous comment mentioned. One more question… is there a 12v outlet inside the console? I’m hoping so since I have an external backup camera monitor for my travel trailer that attaches to the windshield and needs one for power.
@@drkvdreamer yes! There is!
WOW man that is wild! What was happening on the first one around 20k miles?
Eh as someone that loves to travel… I need that back seat space… and the Colorado back seat doesn’t fold up
Mine fold up. I was worried about the backseat space too. I don't have any kids and we rarely used the backseats when we travelled in the F150 because I had a tonneau cover and my wife likes to stretch out on long drives.
Just bought the Colorado Z71 this week
CONGRATS!!!
@@GeorgiaZR2 thanks
In the market for one of these, but really like the interior of the GMC Canyon Denali edition
Yes, the interior of the Canyon is really nice!
Good video! Thanks! ❤
Thanks for your support! 😎
I would buy a Colorado ZR2 cause I love them but just to let you know if the dealer didn’t tell you it’s got a turbo 4 cylinder in it and you would have to do way more frequent oil changes
@@jeffrymcallister2789 yes, I did a lot of research on my purchase.
More frequent oil changes? Where did you hear that? I own one and the service manual and manufacturer recommend oil changes every 7500 miles.
4 cycl turbo kills this for me....this thing needs a V6....
have you test drove it?
Definelty understand that. I originally wanted to V6 but after test driving this thing was great
The Turbomax 4 is a purpose-built motor that rivals many v8's. I'd know, I own one.
It's a four banger it will blow up@@arthurmanderson4892
I really want one...but damn all of the reliability issues I've seen so far..really put me off 😢
We must have different algorithms because I'm not seeing that nor have I experienced that with mine.
@@GeorgiaZR2 I mean you can just use Google 🤷♂️ Or just do a quick RUclips search and see for yourself lol The comments tell a lot too.

Hey would you know the dimension for height from the ground to the top of the gps antenna? Trying to see if it would fit in my garage
Hey bro, I just saw your comment. I'll measure for you today
These mid size trucks are the same price as a full size now a days. Always go with the full size
My auto start stop don’t kick in every time I stop.
@@BrianDIYChannel mine either. There are certain conditions when it won’t kick on.
Im curious about why your phone is on a phone holder. Is the integration into the truck not adequate?
I prefer to have it in front of me.
How's the gas mileage so far?
15-16mpg thats what i get on mine
I get about 17-18 mix
You got 240,000 miles on your Ford with the Triton engine and you said the Triton doesn't have a good track record?
I got a good one. Look at the history of the 5.4s
Ranger raptor is $57k are you talking about with markup?
Go to Google and type "2024 Ranger Raptor for sale". Posted for $58k to $63k+
@@GeorgiaZR2 damn. I am not going to buy mine now but it’s msrp. Abq New Mexico.
@@wesharris07 Fords down South are very popular. That must be why

That’s a sweet truck congrats
Thank you! Thanks for watching
Let me know when you have electrical problems , I am 4th time at the dealership
Hate to hear it man!
I got mine a month ago. I traded my civic typer. I live in California and the road here is not good. I choose the zr2 because it look good and wide. I love the camera.
The ZR2 definetly has a great stance! How does your truck do on the roads in Cali? Pretty good I imagine.
@@GeorgiaZR2 I don’t worry about pot holes anymore and people trying to bully me. California drivers are crazy.
ZR2 is an amazing truck. Bison is garbage. Actually worsens the truck. And the added price is not worth basically, embroidered seats.
Yeah man especially for the price difference. It's wild
All new vehicles are 50k and up frame and plastic and and computer chips “ wires etc” No metal no muscle 💪
Relax lil bro not that serious
That truck is sickk

@@eliteexposure5594 yeah. Of course there are some small annoyances but that would be for any vehicle. Overall it’s great

Oh fyi. You can get the 100k warranty through geico for 15.00 a month. Yes its real and it covers EVERYTHING Go get your money back for that 8yr warranty !
Proof? I've been scammed on a warranty. Sounds like a pipedream homie.
But does it have that stupid auto start-stop technology? I hate that feature and think it's the worst! Wont buy a car with that in it, I feel like its no. (Updated! I just heard you say it does have auto stop/start...so dang. I think thats a pass now...thanks for the video though... )
Just press a button to disable it it's not hard lol
They have a simple mod you can install to disable it permanently

Nice!
So you like turbo motors
Don’t really have a preference
Test drove this. Test drove the ranger raptor. Bought the raptor.
Do you daily it?
Ranger Raptor is super nice, but all of them are priced at $65K w/in 100 miles of me.
Yes.
I did the same. One of the main reasons was I am not going to pay $50K for a truck that has a 4 cylinder. Maybe I'm just old school.

I’d actually buy a Frontier over the new Tacoma. If you wrote the new Tacoma is 💩, then agree based on price & made in Mexico quality.
Triton junk ford junk
Triton is definitely junk in most cases
I ended up with a new 2024 Tacoma after looking at the Colorado. The $2k discount, bulletproof history and amazing resale value sealed the deal for me.
Bro said bulletproof history 😂
the old ones maybe , the new ones are having a lot of problems
the 24 Tacomas don't have a bullet proof history
I like the last gen Tacoma's but Toyota is really having some issues with the new gens. And just as a company. If they weren't having this issues, I may have talked myself into the Tacoma.
Bulletproof my ass. Engine blowin up with no solutions.
