Y en el Botafogo era un 10. El puntero derecho del Botafogo era Zequinha, otro gran jugador. La "Seleção" de 70 reunió a 4 jugadores de la misma posición en sus clubes: Pelé, Rivelino, Jairzinho y Tostão. Tostão solo fue 9 y Rivelino solo fue 11 en la selección. Tostão en el Cruzeiro era 8 y Rivelino en el Corinthians era 10.

1970 was definitely jairzinho`s world cup...powerful strength, fast, skilful, in the right places at the right moment, lucky, great finisher.....not as good in the air as pele, who was a most unselfish player. but as i said the 1970 world cup was jairzinho`s stage.

@@bhutochakrabarti4173 maybe, but pelé have a lot of important goals. In world cup finals, intercontinental club FINALS, taça brasil finals (brasileirão) Jairzinho botafogo´s, when jair plays, won just one nacional cup. Pelé won 6. Titles cont´s a lot. (sorry for the english mistakes)

Acredito que Garrincha em 1962, Jairzinho em 1970, Maradona em 1986 e Pelé também em 1970 foram as quatro maiores exibições individuais em todas as Copas.

this is the kind of skills that, for instance Lucas Moura tried to bring to Paris-Saint German but they didn't like it. They saw Lucas Moura as a player who dribbles too much. Today, Lucas Moura changed and what he does now to be accepted on the time is passing. Europeans are more about tactics and passing and South Americans are more about individual skills. Look at Maradona, Ronaldo9, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Romario etc... All of them did great in Europe!

Garrincha's statistics for the "Seleção". 60 games, 52 wins, 7 draws and ONE defeat (in his last game for the national team). Not even Pele had numbers like that in the "Seleção". Jairzinho only played on the right in 1970. At Botafogo, he never played in that position. It was shirt 10, played in the same position as Pelé. The same in relation to Rivelino, who was never left-winger at Corinthians, only in 1970 in the "Seleção". And Tostão was never center-forward in Cruzeiro too, only in the "Seleção". They all played in the same position as Pelé in their clubs. Garrincha was a true right-winger and his name is indisputable in Brazil, in that position.

Literally 80% of the players in the brazilian and argentine leagues were clearly better than the players in european leagues up until the mid 90s... still people kind of ignore it assuming today's context where their best players leave and each year at earlier ages (and still personally I rank the brazilian league as the sixth best league in the world and the argrntine as the ninth) is what has always been like even though a simples research will tell you until 2006 im every single world cup brazil has at least 55% of their squad playing im Brazil including the last ones they won.

Eu concordo. Copa de 58 foi do Pelé, 62 do Garrincha e 70 do Jairzinho. O Rei e o Furacão tiverem uma primeira fase semelhante, porém o poder decisivo de Jairzinho nos mata mata contra Uruguai e Peru se não me engano, pesaram... Sendo que na final os 2 fizeram gols. Sem babação.

Cara, o que Pelé fez nessa Copa foi incomparável. Jogadas antológicas que vão ser lembradas sempre que o futebol existir. O chute do meio-campo, a cabeçada da defesa do Banks, o drible de corpo no Mazurkievski, o chute de rebote no tiro de meta do goleiro, fora os gols e assistências.

A very simple answer would be: speed. Football nowadays is played at a considerable higher speed than in the '70s, but apart from that I am at a loss why you include Robben in this list -if you have watched the Euro's Luka Modric would have been a much more understanding comparison.
Ronaldo ultimately showed that he is not a game-changer like Iniesta or Messi. And Iniesta showed that dribbling is not the most important bit in a teamsport.
honey bozo yeah that's why defenders can't just come in with aggression and tackles the same way they did before too. You wouldn't be able to recover and that means the opposing team would be able to attack and score easily
