Love Ugly Kid Joe's version of this song. Even more than the original. Just like the original, pulls a tear every time. It's kind of inevitable, our kids end up like us. My daughter has my same humour, outlook on life. Hope she's able to spend more time with her young child than I did. I missed out on a lot of that kid being little, while I tried to keep shit together. ALL fell apart anyway.
Great band live. I've seen them 3 times over the years and they never disappoint. Whitfield Crane has one of those voices live that makes it look easy.
I love how this songs basically tells us to slow down and enjoy those small simple moments together. Life carries us away. It’s our job to take those moments to be still together and make the simple , important memories. It matters in how our children develop into adults to be an emotional priority.
I've never been a huge fan of cover songs. Unless the cover was a real and true tribute to the original and done out of genuine love and admiration for original song/songwriter. This song, by this band, always made me feel things. It is the greatest rendition of this song ever made. It's been covered a lot of the years, but as far as I'm aware this is the last time anyone tried. Cause... How's anyone gonna top this cover? I'd love to see it happen, but I can't see how anyone can improve on this. It's like "Knocking on Heavens door" with Guns'n'Roses. A great song and covered by many. But that was the end of bands covering that song cause how are you gonna top that?
Good choice for a reaction. Most of the Reactors our there do the same songs. It's good to see you reacting to music that most of the other Reactors are doing.
This song makes me emotional too and I have a daughter. They just grow up too fast and then living their own lives and you wonder when you will ever here from them or see them. Spend as much time with your kids when you can because they grow up in the blink of an eye!
That was a station wagon. ; ) Lovely cover of Harry Chapin's song. For a storyteller Harry has some good ones out there. Having been in the Army you might enjoy his 'Mercenaries'.
Cat Stevens - Father and Son.... I have a boy and a girl and they both give me so much joy. It's great to see your boy getting bolder every day and copying everything you do, he is my best friend. And these kinds of songs always remind me to treasure the here and now with both my kids. My girl is just 5 months old now, but to see her smiling everytime i get home from work just melts my heart!
My kids became my entire life once they were born. Nothing is over kids in my mind. If you take the responsibility of another human there is nothing more rewarding than raising them right..
Loved this song when they dropped it. Then I had a boy, Then my son joined the Marines just like me. This song almost makes me cry every time. He really grew up like me. Which is a good thing btw.
So funny. I'm 50 yrs old and while working night shift this veteran coached his son in baseball till high school. So yes my son turned out like me. In the military and doing the thing.
I have a 15 yr old son, and a 10 year old daughter. The man I called dad married my mom a couple of months before I turned 3. He was the dad he didn't have to be. (another great song btw, Brad Paisley-He didn't have to be) Even though I've done more in some ways for my kids (coached my son in football, wrestling, and baseball), I owe it to Pop for the man I am. He didn't coach, but he never missed a ball game or wrestling match I was in. The great thing is, my son even recognizes the sacrifice and commitment from me. He sees other kids that don't have parents at their events. That's another plus...By me getting the courage to coach in various sports, I not only have been there for my son, I also gained other "sons and daughters" over the last 10 years. My daughter kind of gets short changed...she dances and is a cheerleader. I can't coach neither, but I'm there to be her biggest fan! Life is short. Kids grow up way too fast, and if you blink, you'll miss the best times in your life.
I use to cry when I heard this song after my son was born. I wanted to make sure I always made time for him but separation from his mom and work kept me away. I still try my best to always be there for him and that's all you really can do. I still tear up with this song btw lol.
My seventeen year old idolized his dad for years.... now, he's just like his dad and has little respect for his father. It's sad to see. This song kills sometimes.
I hope its come back -my dad and I had some big fights that age to -now we have mens night out where we get some good to eat and get some alcohol and talk about the world
UKJ's America's Least Wanted and Candlebox's 1st album is all i really listened to when i was 4yrs old, and 2 or 3 yrs ago picked up both albums and still love them.
this song was one of their three hits on Mtv, the other two were "everything about you" which is hilarious and "neighbor" which is just as funny. You need to check out both of them sometime.
Not true. He was there providing a roof over his kid's head, food in his belly, toys to play with and funds for a college education. You can hear the love and pride in the lyrics. He wanted the best for his kid and was driven to meet his material responsibilities. He was just ignorant, very likely because that was the template set in his relationship with his own father. It's a sad, generational tale of not understanding until it is too late that balancing responsibility with connection matters.
This song, both the original and this cover hit me right in the damn feelings. I have a nine year old son, and he's so much like me, sometimes in a negative way, he'sa bit sarcastic, he loves to laugh, he's obsessed with star wars...he knows more than me...he listens to the same music as me....it;s weird having a mini version of yourself....
Harry Chapin sang the original version of this it came out in the 70's. Here's some other songs by Ugly Kid Joe to check out Everything About You, Neighbor, Busy Bee,& NIB it's a cover of the Black Sabbath song
I can understand maybe why you're not a multi-million subscriber powerhouse channel, but you deserve WAY more views and subs than you have now. Keep it up man.
I love this song. My best friend said his dad hated it and couldn't listen to it because it reminded his dad of how he messed up when his kids were young.
Billy, I've got 4 girls and 1 handsome lil man. When any of them say they want to be like me I give them a heavy sigh and say "take the good in me and leave the rest". I think my son still sees his daddy as superman and he's 16. We just hope they only follow us so far and then take the good and go further.
Love the Chapin original, but I was a teenager of the 90s and have always enjoyed this cover. FUN BIT OF TRIVIA: The college boy who wants to borrow the car keys in this video is Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead. ;)
This was originally a song by Cat Stevens. Then recently it changed to be from some guy called Harry Chapin....lol Mandela Effect sheet right here that nobody talks about...
The song isn't about "son or daughter", it's about a father to busy to provide for his kids to actually spend time with is kids..... Very sad coming from a man who has done the exact same thing, and fully regret my decisions. I provided money, but not time... I was too busy providing money to see what I was missing until it was too late. They are grown now.... And now I have the time to spend with them, and the tables have turned.... Now they are busy with they're lives...... These are the times "sane" people wish we had a time machine.. I missed soooooo much, just trying to provide for my kids, not realizing what they really wanted was........ Time with me.... Now I just want time with them, that they are too busy to provide........ I both love, and hate this song....
Celtic Thunder is a group that did a cover of this song also and I think its a really good version. You should check out some of their videos as well. They've done some amazing covers of the years!
I am friends with these guys and there is literally no bad songs by them. They got their name from a battle of the bands gig where the band begore them was called Pretty Boy Floyd. These guys had no name so someone said well hell we must be Ugly Kid Joe and it stuck.
This brought out JYSE. That last verse, me and my dad not able to spend much time together and then our last conversation not being a good one... Excellent song, and good stuff about the love languages. Can you please react to hail to the King by avenged sevenfold?
Dont feel bad for not knowing them..I grow up on Rock, and I just recently discovered them. Check out some of their other music, they are harder than this song. Sandwich is good, Busy Bee and God Damn Devil. My favorite is Milkman's son..I like you Crazy Billy!! We are all a little bit crazy:-)
I would like to see your reaction to Gray Clack jr. with Don't owe you a thang. I've been following your reactions for a while and I am sure you'll appreciate that one.
Not a bad cover.. but I prefer the original by Harry Chapin... great reaction!! It’s about how life comes around full circle . his daddy didn’t have time for him and now he doesn’t have time for his daddy. God bless you 🇺🇸🙏❤️🐥🐥🐥
I don't think anyone want the same for their children if they never been around ! Why would you want your children to spend all their life working and never have the time to spend on living life ? Also anyone not spending enough time with both parents will end up lopsided and have emotional problems even if the parent you grow up with do a good job.. Don't be to easy on your children and not to hard.. Only help them if they really need it otherwise they won't learn to stand on their own and will result in a life of suffering
I'm a mom of two boys. Trust me, if you had a boy, you would be just as emotional. Your kids are your heart, no matter what.
I Hate Everything About You by Ugly Kid Joe is classic!
Bobbie Robinson might be to hard for Billy though. :)
The un-cut, uncensored version
You hear about 2 seconds of that song in the beginning of Wayne's World when they get to the donut place
Oh my gosh I love the song!
YES!!! The video is 👌👌👌
You need the original version by Harry Chapin. In fact Harry Chapin had some other great songs that tell a story.
Indeed, he is my favorite story teller singer.
Harry Chaplin also said this idea scares him
Taxi is my favorite Harry Chapin song.
Mary is coming is a good one but just about anything he did.
Sniper is a favorite
Yes, the song is "I Hate Everything About You." The song is hilarious!
Neighbor is a more amusing song off of the same album
My dad introduced me to this song and it became a favorite. I love songs that tell powerful stories
this song makes me cry
Great band live. I've seen them 3 times over the years and they never disappoint. Whitfield Crane has one of those voices live that makes it look easy.

this is the best version of this song
I remember when this was released.one of the few covers I was really impressed with

cats in the cradle s a song from the seventies. It was done by Harry Chapin. It is a classic. one of those forever relevant songs
My kids became my entire life once they were born. Nothing is over kids in my mind. If you take the responsibility of another human there is nothing more rewarding than raising them right..

Thats sad

Excellent cover
Very underrated band n one of the best voices
loved Ugly kid Joe = had a huge crush on that guy! this song is so sad but true... not his original song...
UKJ's America's Least Wanted and Candlebox's 1st album is all i really listened to when i was 4yrs old, and 2 or 3 yrs ago picked up both albums and still love them.
Love it better than the original, Ugly Kid Joe had a couple good albums, crude and crass, excellent when I was 14.
"Everything about you" or "Neighbor" are great tunes by these guys. Also, the band name was inspired from a glam metal band named "Pretty Boy Floyd."
Melissa Lavoie also Panhandlin Prince
They are all good. Goddamn Devil, So damn cool, Madman.
Our imprints as Parents is real. As Parents we need to pay attention to our words and actions, (always). Love as much as you can ❤🕊
I Hate Everything About You and Panhandlin' Prince are both good times from Ugly Kid Joe.
My son is my shadow. I love it. He is 2 years old and I love spending time with him! It is time you never get back!
this song was one of their three hits on Mtv, the other two were "everything about you" which is hilarious and "neighbor" which is just as funny. You need to check out both of them sometime.
I saw these guys maybe before they were even officially a band playing in someone's yard in Isla Vista, Ca during Halloween.
It's about a father who was never there for his son
Gr8 Old1 It’s about his own child, isn’t it?
i did not notice him being confused in the reaction video.
Not true. He was there providing a roof over his kid's head, food in his belly, toys to play with and funds for a college education. You can hear the love and pride in the lyrics. Just like mine
Seen them in 93 in Tampa FL, they were excellent live. Other good songs from them are, I Hate Everything About You or Neighbor 🤘🤘
It's been covered by a ton!! It's a great son and us kids that grew up in the 90s know who this is
Harry Chapin sang the original version of this it came out in the 70's. Here's some other songs by Ugly Kid Joe to check out Everything About You, Neighbor, Busy Bee,& NIB it's a cover of the Black Sabbath song

I love this song. My best friend said his dad hated it and couldn't listen to it because it reminded his dad of how he messed up when his kids were young.
The singer's name is Whitfield Crane.
Such an under rated band
raised 5 boys, and its just like this. raising a daughter now.
did Ugly Kid Joe have a big number 1 that is famous world wide? yeah dude, this is it
Time in a bottle by Jim Croce
If you like this you would like skid row 18 to life
18 and a life is just freakin amazing. So is Youth Gone Wild
This is a cover of Harry Chapin's song! This version is pretty good but I like Harry Chapin's original better!
Very emotional
GREAT video dude!
Yep my son grew up and is military now also.
Billy, I've got 4 girls and 1 handsome lil man. When any of them say they want to be like me I give them a heavy sigh and say "take the good in me and leave the rest". I think my son still sees his daddy as superman and he's 16. We just hope they only follow us so far and then take the good and go further.
Yes I do. My son is very respectful like me and joined the military like me.
Billy!!
Gonna see those Bills in the playoffs baby!! Big Bills fan here.
Easily in the top 10 best covers ever list 👍🎶
Love the Chapin original, but I was a teenager of the 90s and have always enjoyed this cover. FUN BIT OF TRIVIA: The college boy who wants to borrow the car keys in this video is Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead. ;)
Neighbor was also a hit song of theirs that was good.
This always reminds me of The Office episode where Dwight sings this 😂
UKJ - EVERYTHING ABOUT YOU!!!!
This was originally a song by Cat Stevens. Then recently it changed to be from some guy called Harry Chapin....lol Mandela Effect sheet right here that nobody talks about...
Love the Bills gear!
Wow. Had never heard this version before. I like the Harry Chapin one much better.
Wow... how nostalgic. This song takes me back.

I have girls and my baby is moving out this week, time goes so fast and i regret working so much or missing out on everything.
My dad was the best teacher in the world...... just do the opposite of what he would do.
I have a boy and a girl. Just remember they become teenagers and the daughters don't like to spend as much time. So enjoy it

You probably think he sounds familiar because his voice is a little similar to Axl Rose from guns n' roses
Their main hit was ""Everything About You"". The vid clip is pretty good and he's got a better voice in it aswell.
My father and I had a close relationship and up until he was killed in Afghanistan my son and I had a close relationship.
Dude you dont know what a Station Wagon is lol
The Ugly Kid Joe song that you will be wanting to react to will be Neighbor.
I am friends with these guys and there is literally no bad songs by them. They got their name from a battle of the bands gig where the band begore them was called Pretty Boy Floyd. These guys had no name so someone said well hell we must be Ugly Kid Joe and it stuck.
FYI Norman Reedus was in this video
This brought out JYSE. That last verse, me and my dad not able to spend much time together and then our last conversation not being a good one... Excellent song, and good stuff about the love languages. Can you please react to hail to the King by avenged sevenfold?
My son is stubborn like I was at his age and he has my temper
You really have no idea how fast they do grow up. Watch Don't Blink by Kenny Chesney, great video, great song.
Check out Daddy's Hands. It is a daughter to father song.
Harry Chapin did this. Since you have a daughter, try Harry Chapin’s Flowers are Red.
they are out of Santa Barbara California
Check out Dont Go, Busy Bee, Neighbor, I'm All Right n Milkman's Son
You've probably heard the song before, it was originally done by Harry Chapin.
Billy! I was saying to check out everything about you by Ugly Kid Joe for a couple months.
Check out hate everything bout u by them. Great song and vocals
I have their CD!!!
You gotta do the original by Harry Chapin.
You should do some Rucka Rucka Ali songs most of his songs r good
That's a station wagon
I recommend Billy Currington - Walk a little Straighter
I would like to see your reaction to Gray Clack jr. with Don't owe you a thang.
I've been following your reactions for a while and I am sure you'll appreciate that one.
Gota have somewhere 2go...
Not a bad cover.. but I prefer the original by Harry Chapin... great reaction!! It’s about how life comes around full circle . his daddy didn’t have time for him and now he doesn’t have time for his daddy. God bless you 🇺🇸🙏❤️🐥🐥🐥
The original is just too mellow for me. The angst in the words goes better as hard rock
You gotta worry about the sons kids now
Billy you better not be playing wearing the Bills! Anyway check out Stevie Ray Vaughn Voodo Child live.
Gotta check out the original by Harry Chapman
I don't think anyone want the same for their children if they never been around ! Why would you want your children to spend all their life working and never have the time to spend on living life ? Ok, but you know Pretty Boy Flyod at least?
