My dad was as straight as an arrow, right out of the 50s, didn't even drink. But he had a great sense of humor. I was laughing more at watching him crack up than at the movie.

He gave me a free ticket to his concert and then afterwards about 15 of us partied until daylight. My late husband and me and a lot of our friends used to go to several concerts and festivals in a row over quiet a few weeks at a time. That was in the late 70s. We would smoke pot continuously during that time along with "some other things". We would really enjoy ourselves! I'm 75 now and almost the last one left out of our group. We were all very lucky to have made it as long as we did! I admit that we all had a good few years but wouldn't want any of my grandchildren or their friends to follow our example! One of their albums came with a sheet of rolling paper big enough to go around the record. It was a Bambu if I’m not mistaken. When I was 14 we grabbed an O of Thai Stick and rolled the majority of it in the sheet. Buds, bud and handball on a summer day, that was a glorious time! That thing lasted all day and there was at least 8 of us on it! Good times, good times✌️💜🔥
When I was a kid my friends and I would listen to my dad's Cheech & Chong, George Carlin and other adult themed comedy albums in the basement on one of those big wooden floor model stereos from the 1950s.
As a 55yo white guy in Canada I grew up with this. The movies, records and I've seen them twice in concert. Both live shows opened with the " Dave's not here bit". Gotta be on RUclips.
My mom knocked on my door about a month ago and I automatically said "Dave's not here". 🤣 She's like wth are you talking about. Nothing mom. 🤷♀️🤣 SNL landshark is also great. 🙂
Cheech and Chong defined a whole era for us in the 70's. There is some great riff played when they are cruising the merchandise they picked up in Mexico to bring into the US. Sgt Stadanko and his goons and the whole thing is so ridiculous that even straight, it still makes me laugh!!!
My whole family are Cheech and Chong fans. Been listening the records since the 70s . My Mom and I went to see Up in Smoke in the theater . We laughed our asses off. Their movies were great Next movie and Nice Dreams were good too. after that they fell off a little. Still Smokin the semi concert movie they did was good . Then they broke up for years. Glad they finally got back together. Side note Cheech had several roles in Dusk to Dawn and that is where he first showed up without his mustache. Then he did Nash Bridges .
I once got so high that I lost the ability to speak. Then my friends and I dropped some acid. I still couldn't speak, but I was hallucinating all over the place and laughing without making any sound. My friends thought it was hilarious and yet alternately freaked out at times.
There was a guy in the neighborhood that did 10 hits of acid ( he was kinda known for that ) and some angel dust on top of that, he then ran out to the middle of town naked. When the cops went to grab him he was saying that the sun exploded and that there were chocolate chip cookies with Mickey Mouse shorts on chasing him.
@@jamesoconnor9027 Wow. Bad trip. I never hallucinated like that. That night, there was a group of us friends all just walking around the city. (It was the 80s, you could do that then.) We found ourselves at a local high school football field. I remember wandering around the field for hours because the grass looked like it was raising itself up a few inches and making little walls that snaked all over the field. So, I just followed them. No clue what my friends were doing at that time. Probably laughing at me. Also, the tops of the trees kept sprouting identical tops to the ones they had, but they never got any taller. One friend who was with us that night started tripping bad and said that she saw Satan and that he was coming after her. So, we all had to get her calmed down and then we walked to her house. I was going to go to sleep, but I had to use the bathroom and I did what everyone had told me not to do: I looked in the mirror. I have no idea how long I was in the bathroom.
A LONG time ago, my boyfriend and I drove way out into the woods late at night and we took only a half of a hit of acid each just to try it. We were in the middle of nowhere enjoying the night sky and tripping on it. All of a sudden I hear talking and we're like "what the heck?" as there should be nobody around. Next thing we see is a young couple with two little kids coming toward our car. Their car had broke down and they had hiked for like two hours in the dark through a country road in the redwood trees (they went in the wrong direction...lol) So we took the whole family back to town and wouldn't you know they wanted to be dropped off at the police station. THAT was a trip I've never forgotten. No more acid for me after that. LOL
I'd just ripped up a crop of my hydro's and got it all dried and packed, thought I'd do an experiment and see just how much I could actually smoke...on the thirteenth joint in a row I lost control of my bodily functions and shit my pants.
Believe it or not back in the day that was the size you would see passed down the aisles at The Dead concerts. You didn't have to smoke to get high you just had to wait for everyone to get inside and then breath normally. LOL
Oh yea haha.. taking it in public is, well... a lot of crazy shit can happen lol. I'm very introverted person and every time I take it in public I end up banging my head on a wall saying why why why did I do this
I would say that the environment dictates what kind of trip you will have. I preferred to do it at concerts or festivals. I wouldn't recommend it home alone unless you want to go on the ' what's the universe all about and the meaning of life' trip. Not recommended at a couples dinner party unless everyone is on it. What a drag, can't concentrate on the conversation and can't burst out laughing at random thoughts that have nothing to do with anything. They won't understand.
I was stuck sitting crossed legs on the floor just staring my friends all were just walking around me for about 30 min then thier high asses realize I hadn't said anything or moved they said I zoned out 😂😂😂😂😂 All I remember is them sounding like Charlie Brown's teacher 😂😂😂😂😂
Ok, this is a true story. Back in the day the Cheech and Chong album, Up in Smoke, came with a HUGE rolling paper. My friends and I Rolled it up, I think it took an ounce, then we took it to a Rush concert, the 1984 Grace under pressure tour. It wasn't quite that big but almost. Anyway we had a blast and so did everyone around us.
Cheech Marin has gone on to have quite the impressive acting and voice over career. He's done really well in his life. Tommy Chong? Well he's still coming down off that massive joint.
I got high 2 months before I joined the Navy back in 98. I got out 2012 but because it wasn't legal in Cali yet I didn't get to partake again till I visited my family in Washington State which had already passed the smoking if you got them law in 2016
This always reminded me of how high I was back in high school while hot boxing with my homies. The school police pulled up to the car, knocked on the window. I was so stoned I thought the widow was down and was going to flick the blunt outside, I flicked it and it looked like Disney popping fire works in the car because the cherry smacked that window and blunt pieces and hot burning weed went everywhere
@@robingainey1328 I think my favorite is probably nice dreams. I love the restaurant scene with peewee Herman and the elevator/bedroom scene with that big biker dude
Never smoked weed directly because I have a history of asthma ... the only time I directly ingested cannabis it were some cookies and to be honest the biggest takeaway was visual not physical. The sun and terrain were super vibrant... but I never felt 'high' --not sure if there are other reasons for that because I was warned not to eat the whole cookie but felt no ill effects. I cannot attest to any concentration and I was probably drinking beer at the time...just reporting facts here
First time i was offered some i said i cant because i have asthma. They said it was good for it.. I didnt believe it, how could it be? But peer pressure.. 😏 didnt seem to effect my asthma but did help other things i was experiencing.. Which 18 or so years later turned out to be partial seizures, which i was able to endure because i was.. Self medicating in the evenings. Now im almost 36 and diagnosed, and even a registered medicinal user. But since losing everything i had after diagnosis, i can have a smoke in the mornings when the epilepsy is at its worst, since i have been.. I havent touched my ventolin. Its never lasted more than 3 weeks, suddenly i havent needed it in 3 years.. even when playing football/soccer in winter. Im suddenly one of the fittest on the pitch despite being the oldest. 🤷 but like you say.. Just my report.
I remember going to the drive in theater with my dad and brothers and sister, this was the second feature, everyone had fallen asleep so I got to stay up and watch it with him, I’ll never forget how hard he was laughing, crying laughing, great bonding moment.
I will be 70 in September, and I remember when this movie came out. Cold blizzard night, kids were all in bed, and friends of ours came over, so we decided to get high. Well, Chuck had some acid, and even though I had never had it before, I did that night. 🥴😧 We had green shag carpeting and the carpet started to grow like grass. The walls were breathing ...expanding in and out. I kept hearing goats, and then my knee was feeling all wet. When I looked down, Chuck was drooling beer all up and down my leg. And that's all I remember. I woke up on the living room floor the next morning, but it sure was a heck of a party! 👍
The LP 33.3 RPM " Up in smoke " came with a rolling paper that big and as with 99.6 % of those who bought it they used the paper in the album rather than ordering a ' Pack ' of them, it went to show how impatient most people were/are. I did have the address but it was lost with my clothes and other things during a move. Still many very good times, LOL.

"Really blew the dogs mind man".😂
One of their albums came with a sheet of rolling paper big enough to go around the record.
Same here😂
As a 55yo white guy in Canada I grew up with this. The movies, records and I've seen them twice in concert. Both live shows opened with the " Dave's not here bit". Gotta be on RUclips.
Getting high in the 70s/80s was a whole different vibe... Cheech and Chong were part of the ride.
You might try their “Dave’s not here” sketch. It’s a classic, for sure.
I am Dave man.🤣
@@waynelynch9557 & Kay!! Definitely agree!!
It'd be highlarious!! 🤣
One of the lines that have been repeated many times! 🤣
it's the best!!
My mom knocked on my door about a month ago and I automatically said "Dave's not here". 🤣 She's like wth are you talking about. Nothing mom. 🤷♀️🤣 SNL landshark is also great. 🙂
Classic!! So many decades ago and still funny as hell. Just watch the whole thing lol. It's classic.
Cheech and Chong defined a whole era for us in the 70's. There is some great riff played when they are cruising the merchandise they picked up in Mexico to bring into the US. Sgt Stadanko and his goons and the whole thing is so ridiculous that even straight, it still makes me laugh!!!
"My dog ate my stash" is the greatest line in a movie, ever!.
One of the funniest comedy duo’s of their time! I loved Cheech and Chong
When I was 13 we rolled the paper insert from the album and got the entire party at my cousins apartment blazed. What awesome memories!
@@_msthings_ Haha the good old days.
LOL
@@jamesoconnor9027 That's so sad but it does sound like one wild trip. Sheesh! :-)
Its 420 somewhere! Lmao love this movie ;)
They have a ton of hilarious audio sketches on numerous albums
HEY OFF I DIG YOU RICHARD PRYOR Poster !!
I saw that and " little feet's" came to mind
Absolutely one of my favorites!!
Seen it when it was in the theaters and laughed my balls off. Lol.
I'd just ripped up a crop of my hydro's and got it all dried and packed, thought I'd do an experiment and see just how much I could actually smoke...on the thirteenth joint in a row I lost control of my bodily functions and shit my pants.
Thats some heavy shit man
😆
Well you’re an idiot, aren’t you?
@@KDavis1163 much rather be an idiot than be someone who insults people over the internet while hiding behind a computer screen.
It was all in the pursuit of SCIENCE! Let me know if you ever need a volunteer to reenact that little experiment. 😂
I remember growing up with these guys . It’s funnier now to me than it was back then! Hope YOU enjoyed it @LFR Fam😉
This is a running inside joke with my dad. The whole movie is just a mess but it's a classic.
You're a mess
YES... I have been that high...
We watched this in junior high and everyone in the room was rolling laughing. No weed was involved in the making
Believe it or not back in the day that was the size you would see passed down the aisles at The Dead concerts. You didn't have to smoke to get high you just had to wait for everyone to get inside and then breath normally. LOL
LSD is a hell of a drug. I couldn’t imagine taking it in public.
I have an acquaintance that does. Even at work. He handles it very well. My dabbling takes place indoors, though.
@@georgefirth4502 The only times I’ve done it is at home alone. I felt comfortable because I didn’t have to worry about anyone messing with me.
@@UltraViolent21 So how did it go with you, yourself, and I? Did you talk yo yourself in the mirror?
Been so high that I couldn't move or talk. Every time I tried to talk, I just drooled
Esmeralda 😜
Ah the 70's was so much fun, great bands, clothes and yes bloody fabulous weed ⭐
Ever been so tripped out that blankets are too complicated to figure out?
No but I had problems with shirts ,shoes and pants.
YEP.... a few too many times back in the day. Gooood times!!!!!!! ;)
I love hoe these guys took all the stereotypes they could find made a fortune and became legend unlike these days. Enjoyed this, thanks.
I been that high before using a gas mask
I saw this movie in the theater about 10 times when it came out!!! You missed a lot of funny shit with this abbreviated video!!!🎶🎼👌👍✌️😂😎
Lol, good story. Kinda like dropping the roach in your lap while driving. Yeah, good times.
When I first saw this scene, I lost my shit 😂😂😂

React to Cheech and Chong Big Bambu album - Dave's not here , The Bust , Ralph and Herbie , Sister Mary Elephant , Tortured Old Man .
Ha! I forgot about Sister Mary Elephant!
Wish you would do whole movie reactions! Try their very first skit they ever did "Dave's Not Here"
That's a GOOD one!!!!! :)
Despite what most people believe, they did not do drugs in real life. But they sure played the part great.
May i ask what your actual job is? Inquiring minds want to know.
YO MY BROTHAAAA! You gotta check out “Whoopty remix” by Montana of 300
Check out the screen when Chong tricked Cheech into snorting soap and drinking his sisters pee. You won’t be able to stop laughing
Back in the day if you bought their album it came with that giant rolling paper
The Big Bambu album. Rolled a whole O Z with one back in the day.
“I think we’re parked…” lol
Graduated high school in 1977. Cheech and Chong movies were our favorites. Just like high school. My millennial kids never got it. High AF!😂
"Does Howdy Doody got wooden balls" 😂😂
The license plate “Muff Diver” Haha
"take these man!.......oh wait a minute, dont take those". Best line ever.
I'm 68 and these guy's were the shit when I was in High School in the early 70's. Listen to their music " ear ack my eye"
"Keep on knockin' but you can't come in" 😂
This is exactly how us stoners talked in the early 70’s! Lol! Very funny stuff!
