Brad hit it on the nail. They were a stoner comedy duo from the 70's and 80's (and they are back together now). Their movie Up In Smoke is a classic.
They must watch the movie "Up In Smoke!" to truly get it. Love Cheech and Chong! Can I see your license sir..Isn't it on the back of the car man.
Love Up in Smoke.
@@yeahboiii6640 nah man his name is Ralph
Or their Mexican wrestler bit dressed as bumble bees
If Brad needs to review a song from them why not Earache My Eye.
Up In Smoke is a CLASSIC!!!!!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Brad nailed it 2 high people doing high people stuff
At last .. Brad drives it out the park
I remember hearing this on the radio every Christmas growing up. Always enjoyed listening to it.
Same
Definitely a Christmas treat for us oldies!!!!!! Stoners to the end!!!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🎅🏻🎄😎❤️ Young ppl have no clue who these ppl are!!!!! So says Austin Tx!!!! 😎🍸
Yes I've always loved this!
Yeah this and Esex winter and
Don't forget about the 3 little pigs bit
When Brad said he thought it was just two high people talking about doing high people stuff...it was the perfect description of every Cheech and Chong skit.
great comedy team Cheech and Chong. Just imagine 2 stoners having a discussion and youll get it.
"Dave's not here, man" is another Cheech and Chong classic. You may have heard the line before but not known its origin.
hey man i got the stuff let me in bro
Pssst. Hey man. Open up the door…
Brad nailed it. Two stoned guys doing stoned guy stuff. Classic.
Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong were a comedy duo. They played stoners that talked about stuff, and sang. Most of what they did would be way beyond politically incorrect now, but they were hilarious. If you want to give one of their songs a listen, try "Earache my eye"
They didnt play stoners. They are stoners
Or Blind Melon Chitlin ruclips.net/video/SZclLDlcXO0/видео.html
"Earache My Eye"... Great guitar work by the late great Gaye Delorme!
Framed
Another song
Brad got it "two high people talking." Cheech & Chong were total stoners/comedy-duo back in the 70s/80s.
...and "his old lady" was Mrs. Claus. No drug dealer, just pot-heads while high thinking about Santa Claus.
"Were" haha they still are stoners
I've never felt so old listening to you two figure out the story if Santa Claus and his old lady
Cheech and Chong made my teen years in the 70s livable
Check em out
For your next movie I suggest Cheech & Chong " Up In Smoke". That would be easiest way to familiarize yourselves with their trade craft. They were the 70's adult comedy heard mostly by teens.
My brothers had Cheech & Chong comedy albums I would get into trouble for listening to because of the content of their humor, but it was so funny! One of their albums, "Cheech & Chong's Greatest Hit", not Hits, but Hit like Hit from a bong or a joint, came with a 6 foot rolling paper inside the album cover! Earache My Eye would be a great song for Brad & Lex to listen to, or something by Blind Melon Chitlin!
“Okay class, anymore questions?” “Yeah, hey who cut your hair!?!”
@@stevenmonte7397 Thank you!
I still have the Album “Big Bamboo” with the giant rolling paper still in it.
YES! Freaking HILARIOUS! Don’t even have to be a stoner to laugh all the way through it!
This leaves me feeling like laughing and crying at the same time.
I never thought we'd get to a point where people didn't know who Chhec and Ching were. Sad.
Haha. That skit sailed a mile over your heads. LOL. Cheech and Chong was a comedy duo - who occasionally did a few songs as part of the joke. If you want a song look up Earache My Eye.
OMG - I remember That, I Was in The 10th Grade !! Man I'm Old !! LOL
Haha you and I both. :)
Which movie was it? Where Chong is singing that song “Beaner”. 🤣🤣🤣
It’s right after Cheech was singing that song “Mexican American”
I love the whole "Earache my eye" skit, but that song would be great for them to review.
@@livinglegend3876 IIRC "Earache" was in Up in Smoke
Growing up Hispanic in Southern California, this is just the story of Santa Clause told in a Chicano dialect.
No drugs, just fairy dust to fly around.
The midgets are the elves.
The ol’ lady is Mrs. Clause.
Cherch & Chong were a Chicano comedy team that did all of their routines in the typical dialect.
Example: I would greet people and say “como esta frijole?” - Translation, “How you bean” (frijole is Spanish for beans).
The chopping bag is shopping bag or Santa’s sack of presents.
And the description of the sled, being chopped and short is descriptive of typical low-rider cars seen in the Hispanic communities.
Today is Christmas 2023, BAD Brad After Dark, did this same "Song" again, he was just as lost. He makes me laugh, for sure.
Chong is actually Chinese and from Canada, he's not Chicano at all.
@@cindee1794 I never said he was Chicano., I said they were a Chicano comedy duo. Their humor was Hispanic in flavor. Oh, and Tommy is mixed, not pure Chinese. Just so you know.
The "old lady"= Mrs. Santa Clause.
And for a change, Brad is right. It's just a comedy bit. Lex really read too much into it.
Yes Brad seems to never be right, and honestly I think they should do some research on the bands they are critiquing because to be fair Brad seems to always not know what he is talking about. Maybe let Lex do this on her own and let him have his own channel of things he knows, he also stops the video's too much and to be honest looks stoned. . .
Isn't his old lady Mary Christmas?
and for a change lmao...the dude needs to chill sometimes maaaaan. thank god for Lex
@@bobbruin44 Yeah, but sometimes a song is about exactly what it seems to be about and Lex reads all these crazy metaphors and hidden messages into something completely straightforward, and then SHE'S the one that needs to chill out. That's why I watch this channel, because the extreme contrast of how either one reacts to a song: Brad has NO imagination and Lex has too much.
I am seriously in shock you guys don't know Cheech and Chong. They are cultural icons. They did a lot of comedy back in the day as stoners.
For sure. It hurt me them not knowing who Cheech and Chong are.
It's me Dave let me in!🇨🇦
@@madmann5373 Dave??? Dave's not here man.
I had to quit my job because i started beefing it with 50 year old mfs.. and It got toxic to be there, now i spend most of my time smoking weed on my RUclips channel now, meanwhile i get back to the hustle 🤦♂️ of course i had bread aside 🥖
@@addemup Cheech and Chong are still well known today versus the others you mentioned
It's absolutely mind boggling that there are actually people out there that have NEVER experienced Cheech & Chong!! With all their albums & movies! I was blessed to get to see them live with the band war. War performed a couple of songs, Cheech & Chong would come out and perform some skits, more War songs and back and forth throughout the show! It was excellent and it was part of a weekend concert package I got for my wife's birthday....!! Fri night we went to Cheech & Chong with band War, then on Sunday of same weekend we saw Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers with Steve Winwood opening! What an amazing weekend of performances!!
Here, here!! Can we get a shout out for Santa and his magic dust!!!
Dont forget the brownies! Lol
One thing I’ve learned from reaction videos is that the younger generations somehow have lived in a world where nothing existed before 9/11.
It is great to see y’all exposed to stuff of the previous generation and enjoying it. Church and Chong comedy albums and movies were huge in the 70s and 80s.
brad nailed it this time
Hilarious!! This was always a Christmas time classic when I was growing up! Cheech and Chong were a killer comedy duo and their bit was being to chicano stoner dudes from East L.A. This is the East LA stoner version of the story of Santa and Mrs Claus. Not drug dealers, just Santa. Listen to it again with that in mind, and it will be funnier to you. Blessings from Texas.
High people doing high people stuff was pretty on point.
'Here comes Santa Cleese the vato with the bony knees' I always hear that line in my head when I see Santa🎅
My parents used to play their comedy albums when I was a little kid, before they made movies. "Dave's not here man, Bassett ball Jones, up his nose", so much funny stuff. My dad took us to the drive in to watch up in smoke when it came out. I found those old albums in his closet when he passed away.
I still say Dave's not here ! Usually get a " look " . 😆
@@kierstenridgway4634 Who? Dave? Yeah man it's me, Dave, I got the stuff now open the door.
@@WaymoresBlues Dave's not here!
These 2 need a lot more exposure to Cheech and Chong!
You need to watch some of their movies, soo hilarious.
correct!
Brad got it. The "old lady" was Mrs. Claus. It is just a conversation between two pot heads. That happens ALLLLLLL the time.
Cheech & Chong were a comedy team. They made records and movies. They were L.A based so some references are only know by SoCal locals like Pacoima is a suburb of L.A. They are still around.
Boy I'd love to see you both react to their first movie "Up In Smoke". What a comedy classic.
Yes..
Cheech and Chong had a band kind of the way The Monkees had a band. It was all built around their showbusiness identity. Comedy duos used to be a bigger thing then than today. And they broke ground as the first two to be really bold about smoking weed. They did a whole series of films all based on these two characters, kind of like Bob and Doug McKenzie, who you also listened to, were a comedy duo. In fact, they shot most of the series they were on, (SCTV), in the same city, (Edmonton, Canada), that Chong's from.
When Cheech says "chopped chort" in his overdone comedic Hispanic accent, he means "chopped short" -- a short is slang for "car" (an older expression here on the West Coast at least) and "chopped" is what customizers do to the rooflines of cars to give them a lower profile by removing (or "chopping") sections of the supporting roof pillars by several inches, thus lowering the entire height of the car's profile (a lot easier said than done). If you've ever seen the movie American Graffiti, the bright yellow 5-window '32 Ford Coupe ("Deuce Coupe") featured in it is a classic example of a chopped hot rod.
Cheech & Chong are the best comedy team - I still recall their album which came with gaint rolling paper - love their 1st and 2nd movie - they are a required taste
and 2 years after it came out every one of those giant papers had disappeared "up in smoke"
@@oldmachinist9236 2 years? Back in the day? I know mine was gone in hours after getting the album!
@@Yotraj all the important stuff I've forgotten over the last 50 years but I still remember the exact moment and party when I and my best friend collaborated rolling one of those for the first time
@@oldmachinist9236 we used ours that weekend lol
I still have Big Bambu, and the rolling paper.
Yes! Y'all did it! This was a yearly tradition listening to this with my dad when I was a kid. Nothing like being a child of hippies
Same. I was watching Cheech & Chong while other kids were watching "Sesame Street." Lol.
I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who never heard of Cheech & Chong. Man, how times have changed. Or, I’m getting old.
Brad: "I think it's just two high people doing high people stuff". Nailed it. Man this brings me back. I don't remember hearing this for at least 20 years.
I used to listen to Cheech and Chong skits on record long before they ever hit the big screen. Some of the best stoner comedy ever made. Some of their classic short skits are "Let's Make a Dope Deal", and "Acapulco Gold Filters," My personal favorite, is "Pedro and Man at the Drive-In." They are truly funny. "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" is one of their more obscure skits.
No stems no seeds
Blind man chitlins
@@gilbertcourchesne1001 "Class... class...SHUT UP! Thank you."
His old lady is another term for someone’s wife. She made the best brownies. Knowing Cheech and Chong they were probably weed brownies.
Lol it was a high conversation about Santa, and "his old lady" is Mrs. Claus
These guys were such a great comedy team for years. They did movies and had several albums, one album came with a sheet of rolling paper. These guys were the always high guys that were so funny.
Cheech & Chong dropped a few songs along the way too -- "Basketball Jones", "Earache My Eye", "Born In East L.A."
Their album Big Bambu came with large rolling papers
I remember cheech doing a rendition of Feliz Navidad called Police got my car
I'm a big time stoner and I've had a lot of conversations that sounded pretty much like this.
I Kno watcha mean man
Somehow I stumbled across this channel and spent the last 4 hours watching every video. It’s like my own personal playlist of the best songs ever. Love it. Keep it up. Love you both.
"Earache my Eye" is a real song, and a comedy bit in one...These guys are hilarious, they've been killing it for 50 years...😂🤣😆😅
I saw them at a small venue in 1973 with my friend. His Mom brought us. Gallagher warmed up for them. Classic! They are just high. Their take on Santa. They are comedians.
"Ear Ache My Eye" was popular when I was a kid. The song at the beginning was legit before the dad walks in. Everyone mimicked "Class Shut Up" too 😆
Brad you're right, it's a couple of high people doing high people things. Creech and Chong were gold.
Santas old lady was Mrs. Claus.
In school the teachers would say something and from the back of the class they would get an "Oh wow man".
When we had drive-ins here in the 70's, that was the best time. Indulging in some weed while watching Cheech and Chong indulging in copious amounts of the same, was gut busting hilarious. Best time ever.
You need to listen to ear ache my eye...its a killer song by them
Brad for the win. It's just two stoned hippies talking about Santa. They give the same treatment to "The Three Little Pigs" Great comedy, but the slang can get confusing if you are familiar.
One of our favorite sayings around here is, when I want seconds of something, I say “And a little more for Santa Clause”. Lol
I grew up listening to these guys on record, George Carlin too. The 70s were a great time to be a kid.
This was their version of Twas the night before Christmas. And yes the radio stations played this before all of the Political Correctness junk started.
Damn. I think you both owe it to yourselves to go watch so Cheech and Chong flicks. Even if you are not smokers yourselves it is still hilarious. Up In Smoke is a must. Comedy classic
When the cop took their hotdog 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Brad's correct! The old lady is his Santa wife!
Listen to their song called "Basketball Jones". The number of great musicians playing is incredible.
Cheech and Chong first made comedy albums and one had a big rolling paper in it so you could roll a big foot-long joint and smoke it and listen to the album, and then they started making movies and the rest was history!
Tommy Chong was first a guitar player/singer/songwriter. He had his own band in Alberta (Little Daddy and the Bachelors) and married Floyd Sneed's older sister. He bought Floyd his first set of drums and Floyd eventually wound up as the drummer for Tommy's band when they moved to Vancouver.
Tommy opened a nightclub there and became the first club in Vancouver to bring in Motown acts. Bobby Taylor joined the band as the singer and the band was renamed Bobby Taylor and The Vancouvers. The band did mostly Motown covers and were heard by Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson of The Supremes who loved their original song written by Tommy Chong called "Does Your Mama Know About Me" and took them to meet and audition for Barry Gordy of Motown Records. He produced their record and the song hit #29 on The Billboard Hot 100.
When the band broke up - Tommy teamed up with an American who came to Canada to avoid the draft for the Vietnam war on the advice of his LA police captain father. That man was of course Cheech Marin and Cheech and Chong started out doing comedy routines in Vancouver.
Bobby Taylor discovered The Jackson 5 when they opened for Bobby Taylor And The Vancouvers in Chicago. He brought them to Motown and produced their first two albums.
Floyd Sneed moved to LA and became the drummer for the Legendary Three Dog Night.
Funny how things work out....
Cheech and Chong were an amazing comedy duo back in the 70s and early 80s. They made several movies as well. Great stuff. This used to play on our local rock station every year back in the 80s. It's a classic. Cheech (the Mexican dude) would always stretch the truth, and Chong was always too high and was very literal.
These guys were huge in the 70's... Their albums would be played in full on the fm stations at night.. And so.. they had tracks off their albums become singles.. This was one of their last. You should check out Sister Mary Elephant... and Daves nbot here...
Brad: "I thought it was just two high people doing high people stuff?"
I'm still wiping the tears out of my eyes. I so know the look you had! Cheers
This was brilliant, I love it. But Brad is right, it's just two really high dudes Chillin '
I never wanted to be the guy to say this but you've never heard of Cheech and Chong?Seriously?God I'm old! Watch their movie Up in Smoke. Its hilarious!
They are a great comedy duo
Late '80s through the '90s I was a radio dj. From Thanksgiving through Xmas we played this a LOT. Good times!
Sigh.....I've never felt so sad after my favorite Christmas "song". Youth is truly wasted on the young.
LOL! Brad got it right! It's 2 high guys interpreting Santa Claus. it's not a song, it's a comedy skit! Yes Cheech & Chong were a stoner comedy duo in the 1970s & 80s. They did some movies too. For me their first movie was the best one "Up in Smoke" so funny!
It’s weird people haven’t heard this. They would play it on the radio every Christmas.
I was a kid and my father had the Big Bambi Album. He and his best friend were just like these two! My father had the beard and his friend had a mustache like Cheech. They literally got thrown out of the theater while watching Up in Smoke. This bit still cracks me up! “I don’t know man I’m not from around here I’m from Pittsburgh, man”!
I love that it took y'all that long to figure out Cheech's words!!! My grandma speaks with the exact same accent! Cheech and Chong brought stoner and Latino humor to the mainstream in the 1970's. They're Pride of our Culture material in humble opinon!!!!
i love the look of total berwilderment on your faces ! :) God bless you both !
I've noticed that when Lex doesn't know what the song is about her fall back is drugs... With Cheech and Chong that's a great guess and I'm pretty sure the magic powder was blow, but Brad was totally right. Cheech and Chong are basically two really burnt out dudes having funny conversations.. Up In Smoke and Nice Dreams are two of their movies that I really like.
“High people, doing high people things!” Exactly!!
Primarily not a song it's a story.. Imagine two stoned dudes giving there version of a Christmas Tale. Starring Santa Mrs Claus and the elves..It's a classic from this comedy duo. Most all there routines were pot smoking based comedy acts
I have listened to this every year. It's a Chech and Chong Christmas. Yes. It's a conversation between two seriously stoned cool cats. It was a 70's thing.
"Get Ready for School" is another classic.
Love this listen to it every Christmas and is always a good laugh
It sooo funny to see you two..discovering Cheech and Chong. Ive heard this 1000 times and still laugh at it. These guys went on to make some great movies too. Its just their accents youre having trouble with...lol
Sister Mary Elephant from Cheech & Chongs album Big Bamboo is hilarious
THANK YOU BOTH SO MUCH FOR THIS. IT'S MY FAVORITE CHRISTMAS STORY.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. The look on your faces was priceless.
Just 2 dudes smokin weed talking about their version of Santa Claus! Every yr they would play this in the radio during Christmas time! I totally forgot about this bit to be honest! Good stuff y'all!!
I haven't listened to them in so long and I'm not sure I ever heard this one but then again I was really young when I was listening to it. This really cracked me up, I thought what they were doing with the two tropes kind of fighting each other was great.
On the one hand, you've got the guy that's mainly telling the story talking about a fun blend of the real Santa Claus story with Santa as a drug dealer. On the other hand, you've got this guy that just always assumes the storyteller is talking about the leader of a band and he keeps relating it back to whether he's played with any of them or not. I think it's hilarious and it brought a smile to my face. Thanks guys.
I was about 20yrs old when 'Big Bambu' was released. An album of its' time, but still the funniest sketches ever recorded!
This is a yearly tradition along with the 12 beers of Christmas and Alice's Restaurant on Thanksgiving
You can get anything you want at Alice's Restaurant.
They play this on local radio stations here in San Antonio every Christmas season as far back as I can remember.
"BORN IN EAST L.A." IS A MUST!
This was a holiday tradition growing up in San Antonio back in the 70s & 80s.
i remember Police Got My Car. My favorite Christmas song. freakin hilarious.
You MUST hear their heavy metal tune, "Earache My Eye."
I'm hoping for Christmas you guys got access to the internet so you can look things up such as Cheech & Chong. 'Old Lady' used to refer to someone's wife or girlfriend. This was a classic bit off of one of their comedy records, like Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby and Steven Martin made. Those 2 guys even made some movies such as "Up in Smoke" you may want to check out so you won't seem like narcs.
Cheech and Chong are a famous comedy duo. They also did a couple movies. Cheech went on to star in movies. They did a few songs and they were all satires. The movie (and the album) titled Up In Smoke is one of their big successes.
Check and Chong also released an actual “ song “ called Earache My Eye that’s also pretty funny.
this is absolutely a Christmas classic , love it
Had to subscribe just now when you broke out the Cheech and Chong. Almost got me with your supermarket run in the classic pickup. All in now.
Cheech and Chong are comedy legends from the 1970's. High AF. Enjoy the silliness
Santa cleez, the vato with the boney knees.....🤣🤣🤣
CHEECH AND CHONG gotta look em up. They were the original comedy duo from the 70s this is one of their most famous bits it's a Christmas classic
Brad got it. It's too really stoned guys being high and talking about Santa Claus 🤣
