- Welcome to the fast-paced world of driving where horsepower takes a back seat to sheer excitement! In this thrilling point-of-view video, I take the wheel of a Mini 1.6, proving that you don't need a high-performance machine to experience the thrill of the open road. Strap in as I navigate the twists and turns, pushing the limits of this modest powerhouse. Despite its lack of brute force, the Mini 1.6 proves that driving is about more than just speed - it's about the pure joy and connection between driver and machine. Explore the unexpected benefits of a 'slow' car, as we weave through traffic, conquer tight corners, and revel in the sheer joy of the driving experience. Discover why driving fast in a slow car might just be the ultimate prescription for a good time on the road!
🔧 Car Specs:
🚗 Model: Mini 1.6
🔍 Engine: Not a powerhouse, but the smiles-per-gallon ratio is off the charts!
⚙️ Modifications: Minimal, because sometimes, the stock setup is all you need for a great driving experience. Авто/Мото
get this man behind the wheel of a 54 hp Fiat Panda 1.1 (169)
I drove one of those for 5 years and I know what you mean 😂
Fr
Gimmie a chance I only just bought the R56
Fiat panda 100hp ftw
Mick we need more of these and we need them longer! Please and thank you
Thanks dude! This one was fun to make :)
Liking these “driving fast in a slow car” makes me happy
That’s my exact car haha, just got a misfire trying to go up a hill 😂
I have a pepper white 2008 r56 mini one 1.4 literally exactly the same lmao
About a year ago i bought a 1.1 na petrol 3cyl 75 bhp @Ford Fiesta, and i absolutely adore it !
Howwww ? Can you love it lol
@@Bull1the1Great Mostly I like the way it drives, i like the very precise steering and gearbox.
I found the 1.33L 99BHP Toyota Yaris SR to have a similar effect on me. It's true, you really can have an awful lot of fun in a slow car, sometimes more so than in a fast one - especially in the UK.
I adore your videos man. You just have this infectious passion for all types of cars and driving, and it just really rubs off on me. It makes me want to get in my car and just go! Keep it up my friend
Glad it comes across! That's exactly the vibe I try to have :)
Well I drive a Classic Mini Cooper Sport mpi & I adore it, it makes you smile every time you drive it 🇬🇧.
I said about my Citroen c1 on another one of your videos and you’re correct it is the driver, since then I’ve been practicing and have been getting much more confident. Love the video keep it up! ❤
The biggest W is the fact it's a manual. Imagine having one of those in auto, yuck.
Yuck indeed
A question, can we feel this experience in automatic car by changing stick to manual/sports mode?
Check out the video released today - answers this directly.
In short - yes... kinda.
With slow cars is a semi-manual mode a good replacement?
@@funnykiasedona1077 I think the threshold is around 250 hp where it becomes less awful.
next do a 107/C1/Aygo
1 litre, 3 cyclinder, you know the one
I can barely drive my partner's 2002 1.0 Yaris on a twisty B-Road, I just end up laughing uncontrollably. The 155/80/13 tyres, body roll, extreme understeer and brakes that fade after about 4 corners are just too much 😂😂😂
Love your videos Mick
Gosh, I'm spoiled, aren't I? My R56 is on a stage I tune, pushing 210 horsepower, and I'm ALREADY like "god this is slow I need so much more grunt"
Yes spoiled indeed
i got 150 lol ur doing pretty good
What car?
Stock S model is 175hp right? What did you change to get the extra 35?
@@baileyharrison1030 Mine's got the facelift engine for a stock of 184 hp, and then I'm running a basic tune, which takes it to 210 horse! Also an awful lot more torque.
Your videos are amazing to watch Mick!
Thanks dude!
my mums got a Mini Cooper 1.6L 2011 model which is the car I'm driving currently whilst I get ready for my driving test... and its fair to say its a decent car!!
probably why i'll never sell my 1.6 MX-5 NB
Good vid Mick, i hope Josh dodn't mind you driving his prized Mini that fast 🤔 Au
I've been looking at a Mini for a second car for fun and long runs - videos like this are bad for the wallet lol
I wish you were in Canada so you could drive my cooper S paceman stage 2. My favourite car to drive!
There is no replacement for a true drivers car.
Need to see you drive a 1.3 Mk2 Polo 86c or drive any people carrier please my first car 55horsepower thought it was class hahaha love these videos
Hopefully my CRZ can meet a Base Mini on the track this month 🤓 i like mini's
definition of gt86
Don’t worry I have changed the steering wheel and mr octo is still chillin
Update I have another bigger octo
I'd love to see how you drive my 2009 Hyundai i20! It needs 7 working days to get to 60, but I reckon you could get it down to 4
I just learned mini cooper has only 79 horse power. Thought it is more powerful.
There are many models, this is the lowest
honestly thinking to change my mk7 GTI to a first gen Cooper S
Try a twingo rs cup if you can get your hands on one
3:02 - Does the R56 not have automatic rev matching? I know the F56 does
Try getting behind the wheel of a Geo Metro 55 HP
Before my ST I had an 93bhp Fiesta MK8 and it was gutless 😅😂. However, I really feel like it can be just as fun if not more fun than my ST purely due to being able to use ALL IT OFFERS at all times 😂
Does your mk8 fiesta ST feel fast?
@@6820berlin It does feel fast.
The best way to summarise it imo is this. It's not rapid, don't expect it to be it only has 200bhp😂… but the engine really does pull well and it really does feel fast. Whenever I've had people in it they're genuinely surprised at how fast it is.
I need to watch this but for a Toyota Aqua lol
Woow nice car. I will made a pov vedio of this car
That's still powerful compared to the Mini One D with like 70 hp (the D stands for diesel not direction)
We have r56 clubman 1.6 auto. It burns. Two other cars are 4.3v8 and 0.7i4. The last is even much slower than Mini but nobody cares because it's a yellow convertible tram-like steering anywhere parking eye attracting noname. It's Daihatsu Copen. 50 mph is more than enough even on highway
Gotta get you in a 0.9 fiat 500
Drive the swift
Swift sport? I've driven both the 2nd and 3rd gen, but never with a camera. 2nd gen is the best by far.
@@MickDrivesCars Absolutely agreed, the third gen had no steering feedback whatsoever while the first gen was heavier than the second
"Slow car fast" is the most nonsensical statement that keeps getting repeated. Faster than what exactly?
Driving the slow car as fast as you can, rather than driving a fast car nowhere near as fast as it's capable of, as that can't be done on public roads.
You sure you wanna watch this he might go over the speed limit again and you'll end up with your knickers in a twist again 😂
@@JohnnyMQB What are you talking about? My comment on his other video?
@@PointNemo9 pretty much why even watch his videos ?
@@JohnnyMQB I think you are missing the point, I really don't care if he goes over the limit or not. The problem is he was driving too fast for the tight corners with poor visibility, and flying past blind driveways, not how fast he was going on the straight sections without junctions/driveways. It's not about the speed limit, it's about inappropriate use of speed. The key to fast driving is knowing when it is safe and when it isn't, tight corners and streets with houses are not the place for it.
