there was an interview i read about the developer of xenoblade 2 literally saying there's 4 star common blades that are rarer and more powerful than some rare blades
I'd believe it. I had already gotten kos-mos twice over and was in my second playthrough during post game before I saw my first four crown. If your idea stats are high enough a rare core crystal might awaken a four crown, though this has a very very slim chance of happening; they almost exclusively come out of legendary core crystals otherwise.
Man imagine being Kotetsu, waking up to your new driver only to immediately be dragged into a fight with one of the strongest monsters on alrest...and winning.
Thank you for saying this. It's sad to see all these people using Godfrey "cause he's a rare blade, must be stronger than this weak 24% Agility Katana common blade".
I restarted a new game again and after my last one which was riddled with bad luck/rng nearly the entire game, my new file has graced me a female katana, wind element with Evasion Aura. Since its early game - ch2/3 and a 2 crown common - the evasion rate will only ever will top out to 15% when at max affinity, but it also came with an Agility modifier of 11%. Which I feel is really good early on. She has decent block rate and with the right core chip I can get a 31% crit on her if I wanted. But her auto attack and block rate both suffer too much for my liking. Auto attack 116 > 89 Block rate 20% > 15% Yeah, imma keep the 25% crit rate with the 20% block rate and 116 auto attack for now thankyouverymuch. Oh yeah, she got an Accuracy Up as her battle skill. Those don't usually do or mean too much but it's still nice to have.
"This blade is rarer than KOS-MOS" Thank you for your sacrifice in the name of stripping this game down to the wire, as the Architect knows I sure as hell wouldn't do the same.
I'm glad I subbed to you. You really opened my eyes to how deep and insane this game can be. I'm now more motivated than ever to get every blade and learn all technical stuff to become overpowered.
Dang. I only ever used common blades for field skills and sending them out on merc missions. Who knows how many common blades I've gotten rid of even though they probablyl had these skills.
Lol no joke when I did ng+ for the first time and saw that she was gone I was so sad. And when you automatically get her back after the cutscene I was legit happy/teary.
Yeah, it's a known fact. Problem with common blades is getting all the skills you want. You have to grind crystals and hope to RNGesus you get the correct blade.
I remember checking a common blade's skills. And then I saw orb master. This was during chapter 10. I'd released dozens of common blades by that point. It was then I realized the mistake I had made.
There are allot of great common blades. Especially fighting enemies in the 40s or 50s levels. The biggest compalint I have overall in terms of Xenoblade chronicals 2 is the Maps and movement on map. The gps of where you are and which way you are traveling is awful. This is the biggest issue they need to fix in a part 3.
I never had issues with the maps and GPS, and I played both XC2 and Torna, and still currently playing to complete challenge mode. What is wrong with the maps and GPS, in your opinion?
@@stripedrajang3571 would be nice if it was clearer which way you are moving when you are moving. The directional travel is opposite on map vs the screen. Right is left up is down. Need to be able to rotate map
@@GameAGuy, I think I know what you're saying. Basically, there are games that allow the player to either keep the maps stable to north, and another option for the map to rotate depending on the players moving directions. This game didn't have that. I guess I didn't have that issue, since I'm proficient in both those options. But yeah, I agree with you, that MonolithSoft should improve on map options. There are actually other quality of life that I did have issues with, but I doubt you want to hear lol.
Dat feeling when just watching this video today, and after checking, I had one of those, best part is that I was going to go on a delete spree to summon the last rare blades.... TLDR This video saved the day
Another thing that common blades have and rare blades don't is they have a chance for a Luck modifier (press R to see it). This is an understandably decently rare modifier to get when awakening blades. when i noticed and looked at my inventory of then 101 common blades on an older save file, only 12 of them had luck mods on them. This is the other way to increase your luck stat further outside of any accessories. Ng+ allows you to take off the story blades and replace the slot with any blade the character has. 17% luck mod is the highest I've seen so far, but I'm in ng+ before I saw that.
@@ShadowSkyX I've got a 3-crown female katana blade on Zeke with a 22% luck mod. Makes me wonder if a 4-crown might go even higher! I pulled her post-game, but not NG+.
I just started a new game playthrough and my first blade I pulled was a 1 crown ice axe on rex, and he had ultimate combo go all the way to level 5. He is my best blade at this point of the game by far. My only rare blade is Floren. (Pyra, Poppi alpha, and Dromarch as well at this point)
wait a sec, if orb master affects the party, then that means you can get 3 orbs in the matter of a minute or so... *THIS GAME IS JUST SHREDDED IN PIECES*
Man, the best luck I've had so far with blade pulls common and rare combined was getting Perceval. I'll definitely keep an eye out for the skills, though
Honestly i fell like shield hammers as a whole needed a rework patch, they needed atless a hard taunt and maybe some proxy damage ability like Xenoblade chronicles X Iron prison.
In addition to Orb Master and Ultimate Combo, it's also worth mentioning that Slamdown is another Battle Skill to try to look out for. It's especially useful with Orb Master to set up the Orbs, then Slamdown to break them faster when using Chain Attack.
One of the highlights of my first playthrough was barely beating azure Reginald (a level 41 (I think) unique in uraya at a low level by optimizing my use of Electra, she’s one of the worst tanks but she still functions. Those damn level 70 piranhas on either side of Reggie’s spawn point are so annoying
I pulled a 3 crowns common blade with Rex in chapter 4, his name is Konjiki and he's an electrical beast blade. He have both Orb Master and Treasure Sensor up to level 4 and awesome healing specials. Needless to say, he has been regularly in and out of my active party since I pulled him. I also have Yuna, a 2 crowns megalance electric female blade. She's not that special, but she have both Salvaging and Electric Mastery up to level 3, and I also used her a lot in the beginning since Megalances are a pretty good weapon type for Rex; so in the end, I felt attached to her and still get her on the active party when doing some salvaging. Common Blades can be freaking amazing and you can love them just like any Pokemon. Give them a chance!
I keep picking this game up and putting it back down, but these videos have convinced me to pick it up again. I think I got stuck in the mindset of “rare blades are the only good ones” so I’m gonna try a run where I only use common blades.
One of my favorite common blades I've pulled is a wind knuckle claws that I gave to Nia, who I repurposed into a Kos-Mos and Crossette attacker, but still wanted to be able to launch with. I forget what the skills are actually called, but he gets something like 60% evasion rate and 5% max HP heal every second while moving. I made those rates even better with aux cores, now after breaking and a subsequent topple, Nia can switch to the common blade, launch, spawn HP potions, and then run to them without getting hit and healing to full while waiting for Kos-Mos or Crossette to be open again. He also has an over 20% max HP mod that keeps Nia from getting one-shot while attacking with the other blades, and him being a wind element fills a gap in my party since there are no wind rares I like to use with Morag or Rex. If you grind enough, you can sometimes get a common blade that matches some super-specific niche in your party setup. It just takes forever to get a couple hundred legendary cores, open them, read the stats and skills for each one carefully, get rid of the ones you don't want one by one, and then send them on a bunch of Merc missions to train them up. At least when you're grinding for rares, you know that you're for sure keeping all the ones that have unique art and are easy to spot.
You should do a video which is really in depth about driver/blade/fusion combos, because god I am confused lmao. It would also be nice if you talked about standout arts/specials for starting driver/blade combos, and also ones to avoid because of things like speed (e.g. Nias great axe one). Also it would be interesting to gain a deeper understanding of the combat system
How did you make the Kurodil battle music the Xenoblade X tyrant battle theme? That song is hype. Very informative video, too. The only thing I used common blades for up til now was grinding them out to max affinity then dismissing for the item rewards.
Randomized equipment and etc. in general are usually pretty busted in rpgs, tbh. As long as the caps and effects allow it, potential random attributes will most likely beat out any powerful, but set in place gear.
@@EnelXC leaping isn't inherently a bad field skill to have. At least its still useful. Godfrey is _the_ worst in the entire roster because of his lack of useful skills/field skills in general. Japanese yamcha voicing him just make it worse and seems like a cruel joke.
I would love to see a deeper dive on common blade abilities and what to look for. It sucks that there seems to be no way to make common Twin Rings blades useful at all. :'( Why Monolithsoft did you not put in another DLC Unique Twin Rings that didn't suck?
Should I continue with Ursula's quest? I'm 56/32/52 and don't know if it's worth completing because I really want to start ng+ and it's the only thing left on my checklist for pre ng+
If you’re that far may as well finish, but even if you don’t her merc missions are very useful for filling out affinity nodes that it doesn’t really matter. I still use her for maxing out common blades.
Do you think it’s possible to defeat tyrannotitan kurodil with a 1 star shield hammer common on the worst driver for shield hammers? I mean it would be boring but still could it be done with a good setup? (good pouch items, i-frames, accessories, core chips etc.)
Is it possible to grind for Legendary cores and get the most optional blade after enough grinding? I'm curious on how RNG works when determining what skills a generic blade will get.
There could have been a mission in Indol or Tantal that touched upon the blade sex market that Zeke brought up with his conversation with the Praetor that has you tracking down a ring, liberating a blade from it which would test Rex's faith in humanity and allow you to earn a health or stat buff blade with say a extremely high trust requirement for unlocking her affinity chart to reflect her awful life and comforting/ consoling heart to hearts.
So any Common Blades with Orb Master and Ultimate Combo at decent Lvls are keepers. Would you say the Female Chrome Katana is the best for this? And how would you rank the other Commons (I say rank, but you can just say "all but Female Katana" sucks if you want/it's true... XD).
No matter how comparatively useful field skills and combat skills certain common blades have.... they do nothing to flesh out the story and different worlds.
