No I did not steal this from Flyann I had plans to do this for a while and my ruleset is vastly different LOL. Ever since I did the common blade solo I wanted to try another challenge like this again. The difference this time is my blades aren't cherry picked. I'm stuck using whatever trash I'm given! Which might include Electra (but not really the guy who made the thumbnail trolled me) Can I beat the game? Voice audio may be a bit desynched towards the end from what's on screen but I don't think it makes it more difficult to watch and follow so hope that doesn't bother anyone.

@@adriahrin3284 I like Tora's goofy personality, it's much better that Riku's ultra serious personality in 3. I've always seen Nopon as somewhat naive and childlike in personality, the super serious ones always stand out like a sore thumb.
@@Sapient_Pearwood i like riku quite a bit personally, and while i haven't played xeno 2 since it came out, i doubt i would like tora more than riku, plus riku's voice doesn't make you feel like you want to rip your ears off
Riku is good at being a supporting character, tora is good at being a main character

Pneuma is amazing for chain attacks. Getting a full burst with her out can kill literally anything and it’s how I easily beat the final boss

If you do another, maybe every chapter you can play 1 game of Tiger Tiger so you can use Tora a bit more, but if you die you have to remove all equiped stuff on her

This is a very interesting concept that I really wish caught in; this would have gotten a lot of milage.
I tried doing something like this over the last week. Then I got to chapter 4 and pulled KOS-MOS. Guess I'm doing a KOS-MOS run now!
Possible rule changes:
- You can pull new Blades every time a new area is added to the top level of the skip travel menu (i.e. Argentum, Gormott, Uraya, etc.)
- Once they join, Zeke and Morag get as many Blades as everybody else has gotten, so Morag gets 5 and Zeke 6 (or 7 if you start pulling in Temperantia instead of Indol)
- On party wipe, you have to release a Blade from each Driver in the active party
Essentially, each Driver has a max of 12 lives, as there are 12 "continents". This gives you 48 lives total, for a max of 16 party wipes before the run ends.
- Optional: You can use Legendary Blades, but they can still die. This includes the Poppi forms, giving Tora 3 lives by endgame. It's up to each player if they eat up lives though.
Legendary Blades are basically your starters, after all.
I have no idea if these would be more or less balanced.
You left out the most important thing about being able to use story blades.

I think the concept of a XC2 nuzlock is actually really interesting. Easpeacially since you have no idea what you're going to get, the Blades could be amazing, or they could be something that makes the run even more of a challenge. Really brings to mind the fourth rule of the Slavager's Code.
I'm still in the 'git gud' stage of XC2 career so maybe one day, eventually, i'll do this sort of thing myself, but not today, or any day soon.

Being able to choose who you release on a death really kinda defeats the entire purpose of a Nuzlocke.

Definitely a fun challenge idea. I think for folks that aren't as well versed in XC2 as you are the rule base is probably just the right amount of lenient.
Watching your run inspired my to try out my own ruleset, I do:
-You get to pull 1 blade on 1 driver every 4 landmarks you visit. Yes, that includes the first blade on each driver, thankfully there are 6 landmarks to go through before ancient ship to get a pull on rex, and you can use jin and malos as party members until you can get a pull for nia.
-For every wipe, you remove a blade from every active driver in the party, if tora or vandham are in the party, you remove an extra blade off of rex or nia instead. Blades don't have to be active.
-For the first 4 chapters I only pull from common core crystals, then next 3 I pull from rares, and I can pull legendaries in the last 3 chapters.
-Other rules from Enel apply, Poppi is gimped, no shining stars, use of all DLC is banned with the exception of getting extra core crystals.
The idea was I give myself more options but make the punishment much harsher, if you end up death cycling to something you can lose blades at an alarming rate and the cannon fodder might not be able to keep up.
Now with that been said, I can tell the story of Ai, the best common blade I pulled this run.
Ai was an ice axe blade I got on Zeke, as you can tell this is already a good start, but that's not all. Ai came with FIVE whole levels of target weakness, which gives a massive additive crit rate of 15%, which is as good as Mythra, her other skill was emergency guard which was whatever, but here's the real fun part, she came with three whole aux core slots. With crit up 3 and a mirror matter, her crit rate reached 60% and with and avant guard and an ice headband on zeke, she could hit those big girl 6-digit numbers on fusion combos. Unfortunately that run died to Chapter 9 jin. I thought I could rush him down, but the evasion was too much for me and my dumbass didn't bother reviewing my set-ups.

I think I might try this with a modified rule set. If you die, you have to release a blade that was equipped. This would be more impactful because you would either have to release one of your good blades or intentionally equip bad blades and hurt your battles just in case. Next, one blade per new town (or titan if no towns). This would give like 14 blades (13 titans/world tree, uraya has 2 towns), which I feel like would still be restricting, while also giving more variety.

Really cool chance to see a bunch of Common Blades shine. Two suggested changes to the ruleset would be that you have to release the Blade you had out on the character you control every time you die, in exchange for being able to go up 1 level per Chapter at the Inn. At least in theory that sounds like a way to respect the Nuzlocke spirit while keeping the difficulty manageable.
that might be doable but would certainly make things riskier hahaha

Hmm, I feel like gimping Tora was bit too rough, I think that just having tora just normal and just not being able to use that form and not just straight up basically ruining her would still be acceptable. I have no problem just after facing bosses, being able to draw blades, like facing routes. With the rates just no grinding for core Crystal's and and any story obtained cores would be fine, in my opinion
I was thinking of another possibility for a nuzlocke being you can only use rare blades but every time you die you release one. Obviously you cant release pyra or poppi or anything so if you have to release them only do it as a last resort and if a character runs out of rare blades, you cant use them. If all characters run out, the run dies.

How i did a Nuzlocke with Xenoblade 2:
With every Location/Landmark i found i'd awaken a blade on any driver at that time.
If i driver dies, i have to release the blade that is in the top position at the start of the fight, so that means if Dagas was the blade starting the fight, i'd have to release him.
Merc Missions are allowed (If needed)
Crossette and Corvin are allowed (Only if ABSOLUTELY NESSACARY)
Shulk and Fiora are allowed but should not have any Aux Cores, this also applies to Elma, and once you decide the driver, you can't disengage them from that driver to another, so you NEED to think (This also applies to PoppiBuster)

Even though I personally find Nuzlockes boring and often don't enjoy watching them, I love seeing the crazy ideas people have on Nuzlockes. It's interesting because some games with collectible creatures have forced loss battles so you can't do a nuzlocke on them. But you can do Nuzlockes in some Hot Wheels games. Also, kids, please don't do hungerlockes or sleeplockes, that's literally unhealthy and may have long term consequences.

I would think every death you should release all active blades since you died with them, it would definitely make it much more intense
and I'd get like 2 chances before losing LOL
@@EnelXC well you don't see Pokemon Nuzlockes not using a Pokemon in their reserve after one dies, you should at least have to release the blade active when your character died, so if rotbart killed you again just release the blade in the 1st position since they're the one technically equipped at the moment

I attempted a similar challenge last year. I lost my nuzlocke against the bandits at the beginning of chapter 5. :'(
In my recent challenge runs, chain attack is forbidden. But I allow my characters to have the same level as the enemy. Jin is insane during chapter 9. You can buy Dexterity accessories at Indol BUT you can't go to Indol after chapter 8 so don't forget them !
Next time, Commons only and one Blade per Driver at a time. 👀
Also, while I doubt you'll do this (since you like challenge), what if you were to assign each Driver a weapon type and you just rolled until the Driver has that weapon? Like say, giving Nia Twin Rings.

I have horrible luck in this game. Until 1 thing. I had been money grinding for Shebas quest, and was trying to get better blades on Nia (I prefer keeping rex as pure damage and keep Nia as a driver). So I took my core crystals and used them. Not much until the rares. I pulled Newt. Then a common. Then 2 new game+ in a row. Sadly non were healers. So then I focused on core crystals. And ended up with 24 common and 10 rare. I used 8 common on Nia, Zeke, and Morag. Nothing. Then 5 rare on Nia and Zeke. Nothing. 34 crystals and I got nothing.
If you lose more than 1 blade I'm gonna be sad

I think if you used Flyann's release method it would be a lot more challenging. My problem with their nuzlocke is that Flyann only counts rare blades for the gatcha system.
random release would be much more difficult without having the safety of a bunch of extremely good rare blades hahaha
