    That seems to work well. A lot of folks boondock where there are rough roads to the dump station, and pumping into the tank in the bed makes sense.

    I was just at Quartszite. It was often a long way from the RV to a dump site. I realized it was impractical to haul a dump tank that many miles. I was wondering how to solve this problem. This is the perfect solution! Thanks for sharing. I also love my DrainMaster sewer hose. Bought it after watching your video several years ago.

    When I first started living in an RV during the late 1980’s I invested in a serious waterless toilet which I still use today. Were the current crop of composting toilets anything but simple diverters and batch collectors (it takes many months to truly break down human solids), I believe that that the idea of transporting waste in large amounts under the belly of the beast would disappear. Thanks for the video Ray. Stay dry, stay safe, stay healthy.

    You stole my system Ray! That is exactly the same thing I do, put the tank in the truck and pump it in with the macerator. I have a 28 gallon Camco tank but it still fits in the back of the truck bed.

    Hi Ray,
    Camco definitely backs up their 2 year warranty. I bought the 28gal version in March 2020! Never used it until this past January. Discovered it was cracked around the 3inch input port on top of the tank. Called Camco and after I provided pictures in an email they processed the warranty claim. Just got the new tank today! Good product!!

    I have the same tank and similar pump, however did a few things different. I put my pump right on the dump bayonet, no need for the stinky slinky there, also installed a 6 inch piece of clear plastic 1 inch hose on the outlet side of the pump so I can see what's flowing. Works fantastic!! I almost do 100% boondocking in AZ and no breaking camp to get rid of the 💩. Hello from Winterpeg, I'm a fellow Canuck.

    Have the same exact system. Not sure if you read it on the box and not sure with your hose set up. Once you dump the black tank, I them turn off the pump and open my gray tank valve real quick. Then shut the gray tank back. This gives a back flush into the black tank to make sure the valve is clear and other crud is not hanging around. Just need to make sure there is still room in the shittote. If not I do this when I dump the gray.
    I have pumped 100ft through a 3/4 in hose with the pump with no problems also

    Great setup you have there. We're not boondockers, but but we have the Rhino in a smaller size that accommodates our waste tanks. We use it with the attachments that it came with and everything works great! We like staying in RV parks, but with Covid and so many more families RV'ing, full hookup sites fill up fast. So, to expand our choices and availability, we purchased our Rhino so we could also stay at water and electric sites. So far, we've had no problem booking trips and we save some $$ not using full hookup sites. With the savings from the difference between full hookup and water/electric sites, the Rhino has already paid for itself! Love your channel and have picked up many great tips and ideas from you. Thanks!

    Thx Ray for an informative video looks like a "clean setup" for a dirty but inevitable "honey dew" job when boondocking. FWIW I went with a big blue Barker with inflatable tires about 4yrs ago but rarely drag it behind my dually as it usually rides in the bed for dumping like you did on the video. I set mine up with a 7pin male connector so i can tap into my trucks electrical power for pumping. I carry a 55gal plastic brl and 30gal vinyl bladder for fresh water in my Fuzion TH to minimize trips for handing portable H20, Sure is nice to keep the rig set up and take care of business with the truck only especially at our favorite primative campsite 8k' in ele.in Sierras where the dump site is miles away. YMMV Happy Camping and stay healthy.

    You said that because of the macerator pump, you can pump uphill? I went in to your link and did not see that mentioned. I would like to not have to take my portable tank out of my truck bed because it is very heavy. Just to clarify, if I buy this macerator (I do have portable power as well) then I do not have to worry about having to lift the tank out of the bed? Thank you for taking the time to make these videos!

    How’s the ladder holding up with all your travels with the tank strapped to it? Getting ready to do the same thing and hoping the weight of the tote hasn’t given any issues

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  7 месяцев назад +1

      Holding up very well. My ladder is rated for a 200-lb human climbing up and down it, so I don't think the 30-40 pound tote is too heavy for it, and being behind the rig, the wind force isn't too high. I just make sure to attach it tightly with straps and make sure the ladder hardware & screws stay tight.

    I’ve been using this same tank for a couple of years. The opening you were shining your light in is actually the inlet for a conventional dump without a pump. The only problem I’ve had is the the gasket on that inlet needs replacement every year or so. When towing it leaks a little due to the angle until replaced. Not a lot of leakage but there is a little. Not sure why as it appears to be in perfect condition. Unfortunately you have to buy a complete gasket kit when only 1 needs replacing. Other than that it’s been great.

    Hi Ray! A very awesome overview and demo of this setup! I really like it. We just picked up our travel trailer in December and got the solar setup worked out in January. It is still 15deg F at night in the greater Ouray area, so, will wait for the temps to rise into the mid 20sF before heading out.
    I do want a waste setup something like this. I will need to save up for it for a month or two, but I like this one a lot! A lot of folks get the smaller holding tanks, mainly because of weight when full. Regardless if one has the mascerator or not, I like this bigger one. It gives you options. I will want a mascerator too as our sewer clean out access at home is about 5-6 feet higher than our lower driveway, when we have our rig at home.
    Safe travels! I am back out to the desert mid February to the Vegas and Palm Springs area.

    I have that tank. FIRST- take off the caps that [are supposed to] hold the wheels on and pitch them in the trash. Drill holes through the shaft and use a fender washer and cotter pin to really hold the wheels on. If those wheels come off while you are towing it, the ground will chew through the plastic in about 20 ft (too soon to stop) and it will leak nastiness on the ground.

I have read too many stories of the ladder pulling away from the rear wall from all the bouncing forces from driving down the highway when people mount bikes and lawn chairs and kayaks to it, albeit the waste tank is much lighter than the aforementioned items, be sure to inspect the ladder mounts regularly, especially after a long drive down a rough highway. It is a bit hard to tell from the closing shots of the video, but your ladder is very close to the side of the RV, and it looks like the tank actually sticks out beyond the side. If it does this might cause an unexpected obstacle encounter and/or increased wind drag when driving.
    However, it also looks like you might be able to give it an over-bumper mount to the right of your water filters.

    • @LoveYourRV
      @LoveYourRV  2 года назад

      It sticks out a few inches, about the same as the awing does on the other side of the trailer. My truck mirrors stick out more so if they don't hit something I should be OK :) The trailer actually has a pull out bike rack I could strap it to but I hate having it pulled out as it tends to drag when we go through a sharp dips. So rather not use it. Wind drag is likely minuscule difference when compared to the air the whole trailer pushes already. Cheers, Ray

      If it is durable I think it's a winner.       @LoveYourRV  2 года назад +2

      Thanks Gary. We usually max our shower tank first actually well before the black tank. We like to have showers regularly and use real dishes for meals everyday, so they need to be washed. So galley fills too. This will enhance the boondocking experience with longer showers and more frequent dishes washing. We also prefer to eat fresh foods so end up going for groceries anyway after about a weeks time, easy enough to dump and fill on the same trip. :) We live in our RV fulltime and often camp off grid now, so its nice not to have to sacrifice the creature comforts to try and eek out water and waste capacity all the time. :) Once I spent the money on a macerator pump to extend stays at my sisters house then the waste tank made sense to get versus breaking camp to dump and fill. I have the 4 wheel model of that tank, it's a great idea But the wheels are a joke the larger size doesn't do much especially if you're boondocking, I'm at Quartzite now the Dump station is about 1/4 mile from me the gravel is really hard on these wheels. I have already seen 2 of them abandoned on the side of the road wheels broken and a big hole in the tank! And whatever was in it was all over the road!!! 😔 I have to keep my foot on the brakes in my truck to keep the speed down enough so the wheels don't fail on it. We will be getting a masserattor also so we can fill it in the truck bed and it not take 30+ minutes to get to the dump station. And even stay at a different area without a Dump station. Those products are not made by people that actually use them or they would know it won't last! As I said the wheels are it's only downfall at over $300 it's not a good product if you have to tow it.
