These are the three most popular electric fireplaces that dimplex has to offer. The three models are the ignite xl which is the most affordable fireplaces of the three, and also happens to be the best seller. The opti-V Technology fireplace, and lastly the Opti-Myst fireplace. Lets talk about the differences between the models.
Dimplex Ignite XL- This is by far the most popular of the three, and for good reason, the fireplace is using LED Technology and has a two dimensional flame. If I were to give this a knock, I would say its the least realistic in the sense its the most flat, and two dimensional. However the trade off for that has its upsides. The upside is its the most affordable technology, also this technology takes up the least amount of space, so you only need a 2x6 wall to install this fireplace. So it involves the least amount of framing and construction.
Dimplex Opti-V- This guy I would say has the potential to look the most realistic. Thats right I said potential, its just not there yet. I have been to trade shows and I have seen a lot of prototypes that would show me that this could be the best electric fireplace I have ever seen. However sadly non of that has come to market. Its also too expensive and the sizing is limited. So I would say this is my least favorite out of the bunch.
Dimplex Opti-Myst- This is probably the most exciting product of the bunch, with the most potential out of all of the fireplaces. First off the myst technology I would say is the most realistic, and is the only thing that actually generates a 3-d flame. Which is awesome. At first look, its the most realistic fireplace I have ever seen.

*Very easy to set up and use, attractive but be sure you understand the height--it's not tall. The heat is not overwhelming, but steady and pleasant fireplace **fireplace.homes** . It's quiet, too. I like the possibility of easily moving it from room to room in the event we want supplemental heat elsewhere. Definitely a good buy.*

The trick with the logs in the ceiling and the reflection is a very old magician’s trick called, “Pepper’s Ghost.” It’s most commonly known for its use in the Haunted Mansions in the Disney Parks in the banquet scene when you look down into the dining room and see the transparent ghosts waltzing and eating at the table.

Thanks for this video! We just bought a 40" opti-myst 1000 with logs for its authentic and realistic look. We would like to have an off-white stone surround. All of the ones I have seen have a black surround. Will we be able to see the flames if the background isn't black?
Hmm off white might be much. Ive seen fake bricks used in the back, but its usually a dark bg.
Can you add a straight glass panel to the front of the opti v? I love this fireplace but the bent angle gives me a head ache to look at.
you probably could do a custom one, but not sure what that would do to the look

Hi, as always another great review, thanks from Belgium. However in the video reviewing the Ignite you say that at the end you will give an overview with the lights turned on to show the reflection in the Ignite, but apparently you forgot doing this. So, is this really a big con for this fireplace? When installing this Ignite right under the tv and sitting right in front of it, will we see ourselves sitting in the backpanel? Even in a dark room, there will always be some light due to the television and some mood lightning, or even due to the fireplace itself. Or is this reflection negligible? Thanks.

The myst is the flame. So if you turn it off there is no flame

Do you foresee any changes coming to the Ignite XL product line soon? Looking for a linear electric fireplace, recent technological upgrades seems to be for deep profiles only. Curious to know if I should be sitting tight for any updates to the slim (< 6" depth) electric fireplaces coming down the pipeline!
no, they will be having a new 12" deep model, but I honestly was not too impressed with it. The ignite XL is here to stay for awhile

I love the Opti series, however it sounds like the biggest is 60". My TV is a 75" so I would like something that is slightly bigger. Are there any other realistic fireplaces available like the Opti that are longer?
you could do the opti myst cassettes and build your own box, it could be 80"

Spent a fair amount of time researching electric fireplaces (and gas) and was super impressed with the Dimplex Opti-myst. The flames just look so real... I just ordered mine! Really can't wait to see it in person, but apparently it's on backorder ATM :'(

Hi! I wouldn't be able to hook up plumbing. With that set up for the optimyst, how easy or difficult is it to add water? (i.e. take off the glass etc?)
it depends on the media you choose. If you do a log set its very easy, if you use crushed glass, its a little more cumbersome to do
You don't need to hook up plumbing. Just fill a container.

its good, but they have taken so long to come out with it that now its gonna get passed up by some new stuff we have coming out

I think you did not mention couple of points on Ignite - 1) Lot of "empty" black space.. it only fills the bottom half of the screen 2) Flames color cannot be changed... it is only orange.. although bed color can be changed as you showed

What is the difference between the Dimplex "Excite" and "Ignite"? Seem the same basically.
worse warranty basically. Its the same thing, but it was a trial that dimplex private labeled with a retailer. They have sense stopped so once that inventory is depleted you won't have it anymore

I don't like those landscape style rectangle fires.
I've had a few electric fires over the years but they were the type with rolling mirrors with a light reflecting off them for the fire effect and they were all noisey things.
Here in Ireland real fireplaces are being removed from houses so I would like to get an electric fire that doesn't making horrible motor or grinding gear noises.
About this video. I was wondering would companies ever use an lcd screen for the fire effect like the second fire. I think using an lcd screen is the right way to go by using a pre recorded video with sound from a real fire and maybe give the option of different types of fire.
So far the only thing we carry is the Dimplex opti v
For Opti-myst you are using in this RUclips, what are the options you are using as far as logs The same with Opti-V, what are the options you are using. I like the look but I do not know the options I need to pick when I go to your web-site to order
for the myst? Its just the standard log set not the drift wood. you can always call us to order too? that may be easier so you get exactly what you want

Do you think the cost difference between the Prism Series and the Ignite XL is worth it?
I don't know much about the prism series but Dimplex Ignite is our top electric fireplace.
@@embersliving Just to be clear - both the Prism and Ignite XL are made by Dimplex, right? In the 50" models, there's nearly a $1K price difference and I'm trying to decided whether or not it's worth the extra money.
On the first one, I said to myself, "that looks more like smoke or vapor than flame." Yup. Vapor. Second looks pretty good though.
