You just don't know how many RPGs I played didn't do that. I love that too! Even Riki had his share of awesome moments. And I don't only mean the hilarious moments.
That's what I like about both Xenoblade games. They give everyone a chance to be an awesome character who develops. Xenoblade 2 has the same strength in that regard.
Even riki has something outside the basic riki riki reyn bad funny stuff. When he encourages dunban in fallen arm and shulk when fighting against dickson
Seeing this cutscene made me realize something about Xenoblade Chronicles X, in Xenoblade Chronicles you fight Mechons that have people in them, in Xenoblade Chronicles you eventually get to be inside a mech, in X you are basically the mechon.
Still ridiculously impressive for Wii standards. For what’s essentially still the GameCube’s GPU from 2001, the fact that characters’ faces are as animated as they are and the overall animation is mostly as good on Wii as it is in DE is a testament to how incredible the team at Monolith soft is. Their storyboarders and animators are up there with major anime studios; I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the people responsible for the cutscenes in the Xenoblade titles actually have significant past experience in anime production
Something I find interesting, even though Mumkar is a faced Mechon now, he still retains his old personality. So that makes me wonder, what would Fiora have acted like if Meyneth didn't take over her body?
I only just realized how little of Mumkhar's original body remains. It really makes the "faced Mechon" process that much more fucked up. In a way, it reminds me of THAT scene from Quake 4, if you know what I mean.
It was SO obvious that mumkhar was one of the faces. I'm been expecting gadolt to be one too since we first met othalon, but I'm only up to sword valley so I don't really know for sure
Pikman01 Xord is the father of one of the colony 9 residents, as hinted by a pre-quest text. (I forget her name, but the quest is given by the same person as the broken watch quest. Saying something along the line of her father owning Xord's smithy and died in the colony 9 attack)
And Definitive Edition is also lovely by Switch standards. Heck - even though Xenoblade is a Nintendo exclusive series, Definitive Edition looks amazing even by PS4/XB1 standards despite the Switch’s limitations keeping the resolution down
Even it was so obvious that metalface was mumkhar I didn´t get it in my first playthrough. I was really surprised when when this scene happened. So for my stupidity this game got some extra points ;)
The more I think of it, the more I think of Mumkhar as the biggest idiot in the story. Several times he has witnessed and a couple times up to this point he has been on the receiving end of the Monado's power, so for him to ask "Has this puny boy even figured out how it works yet?" is really an idiot move. I understand his hate and jealousy for Dunban would lead him to do stupid shit, but that line pretty much seals just how much he doesn't learn...at all.
The Monado is more than just a fancy sword, it is also a tool that can allow the user to see and change the Passage of Fate and change the very fabric of existence to the user's will. If Mumkhar knows about this, and it is very likely he does since Xord knew about it, then he is very right about asking this as Shulk doesn't actually learn how to do this on his own until the Fallen Arm, and doesn't master it until just after Mechonis Core.
Wow, i'm impressed at the quality of the video. What video cable did you hook up to your wii? Are you using the given av cable because the cutscene looks somewhat HD.
One one hand, the story is full of brilliant, unpredictable twists and emotionally-charged moments. On the other hand, it's also full of illogical anime bullshit.
The only part I hated was when shulk refused to kill Mumkhar because he was a Homs. That's BS and you know it shulk. As a mechon, he raided colony 9 and killed the emperor. As a Homs, he wanted to take the Monado and be the hero. He wanted dunban dead and abandoned Dunban and Dickson in the battle of sword valley. If shulk had discovered Metal face's identity before face nemesis's he would have killed them both. Mumkhar was vile before he was put inside a face.
+TheDevious I think that the reason why he didn't want to kill Mumkhar was because everything was just so strange. He wanted to figure out what was going on, like who the gold mechon was and why Homs were being used, before actually having to take the lives of people. I still think that Mumkhar being a Homs contributed a bit, though.
I feel like the title is a huge spoiler. Maybe it would've been a bit better if it was "Metal Face Reveals Himself"? BTW, I have already made it here in the game. I saw this video after I made it here. Don't worry. But, I still don't entirely like the name choice.
I fully understand your concerns, I already got several similar comments on other videos as well. However, I deliberately chose not to worry too much about spoilers in titles and thumbnails for these reasons: First and foremost, my videos and titles are intended for those who already completed the game (or fully watch it online, where it doesn't really matter either). I assumed that people who already know that Mumkhar is Metal Face are more likely to search for his name than for Metal Face. The game doesn't even really attempt to hide his identity. His voice is just too memorable, both in English and in Japanese. Many people probably recognised his voice during the scenes after the Ether Mine. And second, it's almost impossible to stay completely spoiler-free when watching a game on RUclips anyway, because there often are some spoilery titles or thumbnails in RUclips's recommended videos, which is completely out of my control.
Cole McEgg I personally thought it was clever to make this plot point so easy to see coming. It distracts from the main twist of the game by making the player focus on something a lil more obvious. The player thinks they are uncovering the main mystery of the game by predicting that Metal Face is Mumkhar, when it's really a far more minour point of the game. Making them forget about Dickson's earlier "can't say I feel so good about decieving these kids" line. Overall it's a nice lil slight of hand with the story.
I really like that despite the large party, the game manages to give great moments to everyone, not just Shulk.
You just don't know how many RPGs I played didn't do that. I love that too! Even Riki had his share of awesome moments. And I don't only mean the hilarious moments.

MELLY HIT BAD GUY IN FACE
YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT, PRINCESS
YOURE A TRAITOR, MUMKHAR. AND YOURE NOT GETTING AWAY
+Craftosaur The くコ:彡 foreshadowing much?
TheDevious for what
+Craftosaur The くコ:彡 YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR INSOLENCE. Both are directed at Melia.
Lol I love the "how's it goin dunban" like nothing's happened
Lmfao Ikr he just acts like they are still friends which is hilarious
is it bad that I know 40-50% of this games dialogue in the cutscenes word for word beat by beat
"Melly hit bad guy in face!"
Gotta love Riki :D
Seeing this cutscene made me realize something about Xenoblade Chronicles X, in Xenoblade Chronicles you fight Mechons that have people in them, in Xenoblade Chronicles you eventually get to be inside a mech, in X you are basically the mechon.
Even down to the Mechanised Bodies.
I'd LOVE my Skell to face off against Metal Face
What about Yaldabaoth (sorry, but Mumkhar didn't really stick in my mind after he died. I actually forgot he existed for a while.)
+Lasatar 64 I'd rather NOT die, thank you very much
You'd die against pretty much any Mechon. What about Gadolt; his Mechon is the closest you can create a Skell to resemble.
After playing XCDE I can only say 2 things
1) Melia was badass
2) Holy crap were the faces not pretty back then
Still ridiculously impressive for Wii standards. Something I find interesting, even though Mumkar is a faced Mechon now, he still retains his old personality.
So that makes me wonder, what would Fiora have acted like if Meyneth didn't take over her body?
Probably like Xord unless she encountered someone she had memories of.
TheGreatJman1999
Probably just normal just like Mumhkar because Mayneth is obviously controlling her now
TheGreatJman1999 That's because Mumkhar gave himself to the Mechon willingly.
No he didn't. He was captured at Sword Valley.
Only the later faces had their memories removed, such as Gadolt.
3:13 Admit it. You WANTED to say "You piece of shit!", didn't you, Dunban?
He's too much of a gentleman to say that, isn't he?
+Justplay1611 - Nope, Nintendo's just a bunch of pansies and won't let him.
HeavyLobster43 Yeah, there's also that. Also, he kinda got interupted by Mumkhar.
HeavyLobster43 That doesn't explain why Nintendo allowed "You bet your ass" in X.
Too bad It's Nintendo :(
I only just realized how little of Mumkhar's original body remains. It really makes the "faced Mechon" process that much more fucked up. In a way, it reminds me of THAT scene from Quake 4, if you know what I mean.
I'm glad that they brought back Mumkhar...they didn't establish his personality outside of him being a deserter.
It was SO obvious that mumkhar was one of the faces. I'm been expecting gadolt to be one too since we first met othalon, but I'm only up to sword valley so I don't really know for sure
I haven't played the game myself but I'm pretty sure Gadolt was Xord. Not confirmed though.
Pikman01 I thought that at first too but thats not the case.
Pikman01 Xord is the father of one of the colony 9 residents, as hinted by a pre-quest text. (I forget her name, but the quest is given by the same person as the broken watch quest. Saying something along the line of her father owning Xord's smithy and died in the colony 9 attack)
Spoiler Alert! Gadolt becomes Jade Face while the gang is on Mechonis.
+YOM2 Her name was Desiree or something like that. And he died in the battle of sword valley, not during the colony 9 attack
This game looks lovely by wii standards
And Definitive Edition is also lovely by Switch standards. Heck - even though Xenoblade is a Nintendo exclusive series, Definitive Edition looks amazing even by PS4/XB1 standards despite the Switch’s limitations keeping the resolution down
WE WILL NOT BOW TO YOU!!!
best melia's moment!! xD
Imanol Pérez
MELI HIT BAD GUY IN FACE
YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT PRINCESS!!
My biggest request for the Definite Edition is to let Dunban finish saying "you piece of shit!"
I like how Mumkhar has peace signs on his armour.
Nah, they're not peace signs. Unlike every other mechon, Mumkhar is a Mercedes Benz.
that’s dunban over there

Zelda Baum
Heeeeeey, I’m not the only one! I was honestly so ashamed of myself that I didn’t get it, there were so many obvious signs 😅
Zelda Baum
I’m glad I’m not the only one
I kinda forgot about Mumkhar
I think it’s done on purpose so that you forget it’s him until he reveals himself, masterful manipulation of your memory up to that point
1:00
MAJOR SPOILERS (post final boss)
I think this part is extremely sad because Meyneth’s family died long ago (if she had a family)
Caden Gaticam she’s a god, I doubt she had family as she was like the first being to exist
the monado man Both Zanza (Klaus) and Meyneth were just ordinary humans before Klaus remade the universe. She might well have had a family.
3:39 Melly hit bad guy in face

I like how they try not to swear
I was a bit slow, I didn't catch on until colony 6 around pathetic hero line,
Alvis do something!
Wow, i'm impressed at the quality of the video. What video cable did you hook up to your wii? Are you using the given av cable because the cutscene looks somewhat HD.
Emulator
0:58 That's Dunban over there!
I thought it might be and this confirms my theorie all the way from colony 9
You've got to love the Nopon
Everytime i see Metal Transform i just keep getting the Transformes theme music in my head. WHY!? WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING!? SOMEONE HELP ME!
kinda interesting how mumkhar, though an evil dude, happens to use the same fighting style as a certain badass hero from another series....I wonder...
Wolverine?
ShadowMere28 & Mega100 eeeyup
Shame Fiora wasn't present to witness "That's Dunban over there!"
Music at 1:45???
It's called "Face" in the OST
Well, they aren't called the Faces for nothing...
One one hand, the story is full of brilliant, unpredictable twists and emotionally-charged moments. On the other hand, it's also full of illogical anime bullshit.

"All life born on the Bionis dies, and must return to the Bionis."
Now, what person said this and was always there with Shulk to influence him?
They gave Mumkhar an entirely new body, but they left his FACE? Why of all things...
cause maybe he needs his brain to survive
Anyone else hear that Star Wars sound effect in the beginning? Or is it just me
0:58 that indeed is dunban over there
Spoiler Alert:
He got away
I feel like the title is a huge spoiler. Maybe it would've been a bit better if it was "Metal Face Reveals Himself"?

They really treated Mumkhar like a true villain. Such low budget animations! :0
Not at all
Sounds allot like Starscreen... to Wikipedia!!
He is a Starscream ripoff to be sure!
WyyrockShulk1213 Nah, unlike Starscream, Metal Face is actually threatening and can be taken seriously.
***** 90% of Starscream's dialogue in the original Transformers was him whining to Megatron like a bitch.
Henny Zhi And Megatron would go ahead and beat him up.
This was honestly a really predictable "twist" if you want to call it that
Cole McEgg I personally thought it was clever to make this plot point so easy to see coming. It distracts from the main twist of the game by making the player focus on something a lil more obvious.

Cole McEgg with all the blatant foreshadowing I think being predictable was kinda the point
mumkhar did nothing wrong
