  • So far, in #MindsetReset, we have covered the science around the default network in the brain, visualization, limiting beliefs-and now we are learning about the physical habits that impact your mindset.
In particular, this week, we are focusing on the powerful connection between how your start your day and your ability to be a positive thinker the rest of the day.
If you don't know what this means, just watch this video and then sign up for this free program at MelRobbins.com/MindsetReset. There's no way to get behind-all of the videos are here on RUclips and you can follow at your own pace.
In today's video, we are building on your morning routine and I am walking you through the first step of the journaling method that's a game changer for me.
I created a free printout that you can follow-if you're on the #MindsetReset email list, you will get in your email today, and if not, just sign up at MelRobbins.com/MindsetReset.

Mel, I have to share this: my husband was immediately opposed to the whole Mindset Reset thing because he made the giant assumption that it was like all the other stuff out there. I asked for his help in accessing the videos. I made him a copy of the guide and said that I wanted to start out 2019 by planning together. I got a bunch of blow back about how he wasn’t going to participate. However, he does love me and helped me view the videos. Because you are so genuine and approachable, he completely did a 180 and, last night, he was the one who tuned you up so we could stay current. We have been talking about everything you have presented when previously his attitude was that he wouldn’t benefit from what you had to present. Thank you so much. You truly have given me/us life changing concepts that we can carry with us. I have shared your videos and ideas with family and clients.

Ruth McCulloch That is awesome!!! My husband isn’t so opposed but more lazy to watch the videos. We did the worksheets together and talked about them. I have a feeling that to him its not as important to complete this as it is for me. I dont want to assume anything because he expresses his feelings different than mine. He has not watched a single one of the videos yet but he said we will start tonight. Congratulations. I hope my husband sees the light as yours did. :D

Sharing from North Carolina: so far, I have accepted the snooze challenge and feel more alert during the first part of the day. I have been leaving my phone in the kitchen overnight and not touching it until after I have spent my 30 minutes meditating, reading devotions, and 5 minutes of stretching. My husband has been listening and sharing the information with his co-workers. You are such a blessing and are making such a difference in our lives!!!! I love you! #mindsetreset

I changed my limiting believe from "I cant do this" or "This is to much" to "I am learing and I dont have to know everthing! Everything I need to know, I will learn." That helped me a lot in a special situation/meeting where I usually was stressed. This time I felt much better without stressing myself.

I’m watching from Long Beach Ca. I’m a school counselor and typically I have a positive attitude 90% of the time BUT I had no idea how sneaky my default thinking and mindset was...it’s SO sneaky. Today Mel said “you have a choice whether or not the chaos triggers you.” And that is so true! The past 3 years I have been “positive” about writing this book but I haven’t been HONEST with myself about my limiting beliefs, for 3 years I “scheduled” time to write my book and never started. Well GUESS what Mel, because of the 5 second rule AND the flash cards that I made to help me throughout the day with “THINK THIS NOT THAT” Today I spent 30 minutes working on chapters and themes for the book that I want to write. AMAZING! I’m so excited that I just got started. My limiting belief was “I don’t have the resources to publish a book and I won’t be able to write an entire book” - I changed those thoughts to “I have so much experience and knowledge to write this book and I have a great network of resources” #MindsetReset thank you this training is everything!!

In Vermont. I’m a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and a licensed mental health counselor. I’m encouraging a bunch of my clients to engage with this amazing material. I’m working on getting my own focus back as I had a very challenging year in 2018 that threw me off track. My second morning getting up without snooze was today and I was noticeably more focused and energetic this morning than I have been in a very long time. I spent some time on some ideas for a book idea I have had for some time. It was a relief to not let the world in this morning for 30 minutes.

I have really enjoyed Mindset Reset, I have started daily affirmation, the 5 second rule, and catching myself in default mode and constantly re affirming my limiting beliefs. I'm the one who controls what I think, and learning how to visualize what I want is helping a lot. Having just gone through surgery, and taking a month to recover has given me a lot of time for personal reflection that I really needed...I needed a RESTART/REBOOT. Thanks Mel

I still have my 5 Second journal that I got a year ago and I still love it, although I don’t really need to use it everyday, perhaps every week. I found that negative past memories, low self-esteem, comparing yourself to others and feeling inadequate is a HUGE waste of time!! - a total way to WASTE the use of your brain, which is one of the most precious organs in the body and one of the most precious things we have! We can’t let it go to waste and ROT in our heads with all of the mindless nonsense that goes on around us everyday that we pay attention to. Whenever I have negative thoughts and memories, I imagine myself on my deathbed in the future and think to myself: what did that do for me? Was it worthwhile? What truly mattered in my life? And it helps. Thanks for reading.

Thank you Mel you are becoming my inspiration to change. I've been hitting snooze for a very long time. I thought what I've achieved already made me successful but not changing my bad behaviors keep holding me from feeling successful and happy. I thought there was something wrong me but not being able stick to a simple task of waking up early in the morning and why I always keep on procrastinating. I keep on searching, why i keep on losing my habits and despite of wanting to keep positive, i still keep on thinking and dreaming bad thoughts. Until I saw this video of Mindset Reset, I know I am too late because this video was a year ago, but this is really what i needed this time. Thank you Mel Robbins for inspiring us to change. I am in LaSalle Ontario Canada and I am finally not living a lie. I am not letting my default way of thinking that I am not good enough tocause me to say that everything is going perfectly. I am speaking honestly with my friends and family about how it ok that I have had some setbacks. It has been a tough road, pretending it's not when I see people makes it true that I am not enough. That's not true. I am visualization myself being happy through accepting the things that I cannot change about myself and having the courage to change the things that I can that are causing me to get down on myself. Journaling is a game changer. I have been so much more productive the last 3 days. I have a purpose each day and a timeline. This helps me to stay on track with what I want to do. This is awesome! The snooze idea has helped too. I often let myself go back to sleep and then am woken up soon after by my husband and then I am zombie. I have been 54321ing it all week to get out of bed. It has helped me so much to get going. I have to get everyone out the door before I can do my own thing, but in the past I have been so sidetracked and tired which ends up affecting how I approach the start to my day. I am catching my limiting beliefs left and right too and if I go through the process each day it will get easier and easier to be deliberate and positive each day :) Mel Robbins I literally was so depressed 2 months ago, I had to go off work and have been questioning my whole life. I was watching RUclips one morning soon after I went off work (December 4th 2018) and one of your videos came on. Your words about your own anxiety were so much like my own life that I just had to check out your message. You have basically been my coach since then. This #MindsetReset process has been the exact jumpstart I have needed to get unstuck and deliberate with my life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Hi Mel! Writting from Argentina. Changes I´ve made since I´ve started this program:
    1. I´ve changed my limiting belief: "the people I love doesn´t love me" for "the right people love me" (I loved this last one Mel thanks)
    2. Put my phone inside of my closet every night since the program started and I´m not allowing notifications ´til I finish with my morning routine: yoga practice, visualization of dreams and goals, have breakfast... after more than an hour I´m turning the notifications on.
    3. I wake up and step out of bed, no snooze no overthinking... today was really hard cause I felt tired and I didn´t want to do my Yoga practice but I did it anyway and guess what, I feel great, more energized and focused on what I want and need to do!
    Thank you Mel!!

i am so happy to be involved in this process. I have to say that you have inspired me to combine all I have learned from you and changed my life. I leave my phone out of the room. I meditate and now use your journal everyday. Thinking this not that has been a great tool for me, I switched my limiting belief that I am not enough and don't have enough to I am enough and I will create enough.

I plugged my phone outside my bedroom. I also stopped hitting SNOOZE. My wife got me the 5-second journal for Christmas, and I've been using it pretty regularly, and I really like it! I need, however, to list all my negative beliefs and positive affirmations to counter them.

Watching from Long Beach, MS. My phone is OUT of my room at night. Wow. Got up at 5 am the past 3 days and it's made a difference. I feel like a baby deer - doing new habits, trying not to autopilot to negative actions and thoughts but I know this is good for me! Very thankful for this amazing training.

I know this is a month later, but I am FINALLY FINALLY feeling increased self confidence from the life challenges I have faced and feel an inner "switch" taking place. I am learning to TRULY believe that I did the best I could in certain situations and I have not given myself enough credit over the years.

I started using 5-4-3-2-1 go in the morning to wake up and get up when the alarms sounds. I also shared this with my wife and son. I’ve started a morning routine getting up, stretching, meditating, eating breakfast and getting focused for the day.

Watching from Mangum, Oklahoma. The biggest change I have made is just the overload of negative thinking that replayed in my head- every time I feel that creeping in I'm able to 5-4-3-2-1 and start thinking positive...it has really changed my attitude and I have a better outlook at work! I'm hoping people I work with will see the change and be inspired!
I already have one co-worker reading your book!

Chicago, IL " There are not enough hours in a day" ---> " There is enough time to do what matters" This mental shift has helped me to be more productive because I'm better at prioritizing and being more realistic about what I can get done in a certain amount of time.

Watching from Orlando, Florida! I'm a work in progress. Had a few really good days from a mindset standpoint, stumbled a little today abd had more negative thinking than I was expecting and had trouble having a positive visualization, but I kept working on it. We (the hubby and I) have removed the phones from our bedroom and have been getting out of bed when the alarm goes off! So proud! We were so addicted! and it is so hard not to habitually reach for the phone! My business is heavily dependent on regular social media posting and that is hard to balance when trying to limit time on the phone, but I'm managing to stick to the routine in the morning and not look at any social media or emails until the routine is complete. I'm still reaching for it, but stop myself before I pick it up!

Watching the recording from Camp Humphreys in South Korea! I think all of the mini exercises I am using have helped. I’m waking on my own, I’m not reaching for the phone as often even throughout the day, still working on the limiting beliefs and visualization. But I’m not making as many excuses because I’m not feeling tired or mentally exhausted. I listen to your mini lessons with my 5 yo son. He listens and watches on the way to school. I’m hoping he is learning some of the lessons. And I can always play them each year as he gets older and if I’m always working on my mindset then he will learn by watching me! Thanks Mel!

I'm from Vancouver, BC right now. One thing that I've changed is leaving my phone away from me while sleep; And try not to look at the messages and social media after wake up but doing morning stretching or yoga myself. Though I still need some days to get used to this challenge, I'll gradually set a morning routine that fit myself or my dream. These changes have made me feel more relaxed and activated than before. :)

Hey Mel from Perth Australia. I have a 10 month old who is still waking up at night and anytime from 5am to 6am. Being a bit sleepy I found the morning routine has to be tweaked based on when my baby takes her first morning nap. My negative thinking has gone into overdrive since I started this #mindsetreset! The biggest one is "This is not for you....you have baby". I literally had to pause the video as I was listening to re focus and tell myself... PLAY THE GAME! IT'S WORTH IT!

As I've been moving through this process, I am noticing how hard I am on myself. Not others, just myself..... I also discovered that I have a sleeping disorder and realizing how much lack of sleep has caused a lot of the frustration I have with myself. As I get used to using this CPAP machine and am loving this idea of taking time for myself in the morning to work these pages. Thank you.

Very little sleep, and hubby set my alarm after his, so I did get up when it went off. I dreamed. I journaled. I planned. And was only 10 minutes late to my physical therapy LOL :) I started my bullet journal and am adding elements of your journal to my bullet journal. I am watching from Portland, Oregon. I have a list of my default thinking to deliberate thinking statements. I write down one of them each day and spot and replace as needed. I am on Day 9 Mel! I feel empowered and powerful! I so appreciate #MindsetReset and you Mel.

Watching from Michigan. Best thing so far for me is realizing the negative voice in my head that says, "No matter what you do it will never be enough. You will reach the end of your life and regret not doing more." With your explanation of "think this, not that" and I'm replacing that negative talk with, "I am enough. What I do is enough. I am loved for who I am and I don't have to do ANYTHING to be loved and accepted by those who matter in my life."

I'm just getting started today. To be honest I didn't know about the program until last night when my wife suggested I check it out. After nearly a decade of sliding deeper and deeper to difficulties in my life and seeing therapist after therapist (which I have a very hard time with) I was starting to feel like there might not be much I could do. I recently (in the last several months) started habitually watching youtube looking for guidance and ways to bring me back up when my wife mentioned to me list night to check out your program. So I signed up last night and am just now starting this Mindset Reset in the hopes that it will help me to make the changes I want to see ( and feel in my life). Oh yeah, almost forgot, I'm in Skokie Illinois (just outside Chicago). Very much looking forward to an eye opening 35 days.

Mel! Thank you so much! I am watching this video at home right now and can completely relate to ruining an entire day because of one moment when I wake up in a bad mood or feeling anxious about the previous days events. I am struggling with routine as I work three part time jobs, working at varying hours that are never the same. I am almost 50 and went back to college this past fall. I am heading into my second semester back with a full load again. Your FREE program came at exactly the right time. I can’t wait to see the growth and change that occurs when we apply ourselves 100%. I’m doing this with a friend on the other side of the country. We both have reached a threshold where we must take control back in our lives and claim our joy in this life. I am wiser and stronger than I have ever been and I am grateful for this video series and the support behind it and ME! Sending good wishes to you as your travels continue. Take care of YOU!

What I love about this training is ow much more mindful I am about everything I am doing. For example, when I pick up my phone I find myself asking if there's really anything on there at that moment that is super important. Focusing more on the moments in my own life and less on everyone on social media's life is something that I am finding to be very beneficial to me.
