I admire the way you teach. I call it the working mans teacher because you explain it so that the average person that's not a technical wizard can understand. This lesson is a prime example of that. Good job my friend and keep on rockin.
Great lesson, Corey. There’s something special about the way the guitar and drums lock up in this song, too. It’s like the drums are a little behind the beat or something. It just makes it so much funkier. You’re capturing it in the intro.
CoreyCongilio To me, this is where the magic is in so many songs, yet it’s rarely discussed. Would love to hear your approach to playing ahead of, or behind the beat in a future video. Be well.
Best explanation yet on how to do this......I have been trying to get this for a long time...now I think I have a fighting chance...you sir are not only a great player but an excellent teacher!
Cory, Thanks for the lesson! This combined with the shuffle rhythm lessons in your Texas Blues Rhythm course has really helped me get this type of playing down
That was the best lesson on Cold Shot rhythm (and the tone!) I have yet seen. Slowly getting all your course but thank you for giving away so much for free too. You are a great teacher!
I've never commented on a youtube video.. but I must say that this is probably the best instructional video i've seen on this platform. Brilliant lesson, I will definitely be subscribing. Cheers from the UK
Awesome instructions, thanks for that. I've been learning to play this for ages and thought I had it pretty nailed for my limited technique, however you unlocked a few nuances that I wasn't doing before which made me revisit it and appreciate it again. Particularly the focus on the tone with the rotary and also the little slides etc. It's a shame so many instructors just focus on the technique and forget how to get the tone. It really kills your enthusiasm when you think you've done everything asked but still doesn't sound right, and it's just cos of the tone. Tx again man and keep it up.
Wow! Thanks Corey I just happened to start working on this yesterday. What a timely upload :) This helped me get the groove that I wasn't quite getting!
Awesome lesson. This may come as a suprise but I was in fact Mike Kindred’s guitar player for a whole night on a gig in Williamsburg. Where we of course played this tune, and I used a Boss Super-Chorus for the rotary effect. The bass player only ever called Mike “cold shot”.
Dude is a stud. I think his instruction is the clearest of all these guys out there. Additionally, this long format is way helpful. His class on Truefire, "Solo Factory: Jam Craft" is all you really need to know to play guitar. Not paid for endorsed by Corey or Truefire, just a fan.
Awesome video as always Corey thank you. Love how the rythm of your right hand emulates the effect. Ive got a Boss ME80 which i dont like so much but i can use it for this i am sure. Thanks again .
Here it is, Jan 25, 2022 and word arrived that Austin's ROME INN burned down. It's been "Texas French Bread" for 20-30 years, but in the late '70s, it was one of the first Austin 'clubs' that converted itself into a small club. Stevie Ray and his various bands were playing there and around town at the time.
It was very interesting. Thanks. I laughed when you compared Hendrix SRV to another guy who sells guitars, strings, amps and stuff... Anyway or whoever this saler is, good job
How have I never heard about the drop pedal? Only disadvantage is you can bend the hell of the strings when you are tuned down. Its how a lot of guys get the huge wide vibrato licks, etc. Albert King style monster bends too
Great lesson! What strings do you use on the PRS? I am having trouble left hand muting with my Super Slinkes (.009, .011, .016, .024, .032, .042) they fret too easily, or my touch is too heavy.
All those tips on pedals are a nice bonus. The price is right for the Digitech Ventura. Corey doesn't need to dumb down his vocabulary. Some of us are educated and know what "imperceptible" means.
@@coreycongilio I need to pull mine out of "storage" and revisit that pedal. Even though it's huge but it also sounds huge. Great stuff as always Corey.

Thx John. It was definitely hard to achieve with computerized drums!

Just incredible lesson on SRV... WOW. Thanks again Corey for your mad knowledge of all things guitar and your gift of teaching!
My pleasure!

All lessons need to be like this! Thank you Sir
Ha! You’re welcome. All of mine will be!
this was an awesome lesson. felt like you dove into why and how more than other teachers on youtube. love it dude, thanks
So clear and concise Thank you
THANK YOU!
Great explanation. Makes it easier to learn Thanks!
Glad it was helpful

Good musicians borrow. Great musicians steal! I'm not great, but I'm stealing from this awesome video. 😎
Go for it!

Love the ending of the original track ...always impressed by a band that can nail it.
That drop pedal could be useful ....all in all ....cool vid
Glad you like it!
The Fender Pinwheel Rotary speaker emulator is the best rotary speaker emulator i have ever seen/used.
Another great lesson, great job Congilio!
Thanks so much!
Great lesson! And that sound!!
Glad you liked it!
Smokin' lesson!
Thanks!
Love your rhythm lessons Corey! I go back to your Udemy lessons all the time!
Thanks, Mike! Lots more in the future!
Great lesson... what about that groove you play around 19:10 where you are beginning to use the Digitech rotary - pretty tasty!
Good lesson
Thanks! 😃

Amazing lesson. Unfortunately the link for the tab is broken - anyway you can repost or fix? Thank you!

This song needs more air time on radio.
A lot of it.
Is that an Ebo verb unit? That's on my bucket list. One day. Until then, my Flint will have to suffice.
Yes it is! Flint's are great for sure!
Another great lesson Corey, thanks. My muting goes to pieces on the vibrato, any tips?
Hmm tough to say without hearing and seeing you play
It was very interesting.
Thanks.

Could be your touch or your action. I have recently gone for a bit higher action for this kind of playing. I’m using D’Addario 9.5’s
Does anybody know how the BossME 70 measures up?

Kewl!
Neo Ventilator is the Leslie Pedal. Costs though.
That’s a great one. I love the old Rotospheres as well. They’re pricey too and huge. Had one for awhile!
@@coreycongilio Didn't the Rotosphere's have a valve in them? I can't remember, but they were noisy!
Yes and yes. Really noisy in line but great in the loop

🔥🎸🙌
Funny how the truss rod cover disappears in some of the takes... 🤔 Great video, btw!
Always tweaking!
Noticed that too.

Corey me da um martin, ai eu dou o meu fender pra alguém, uma corrente do bem. Aqui é do brasil. Abraço
Need a Keith Richards pedal !

I still can't get how to mute everything else except the G..!
And I love your enthusiasm Corey and all gear and set up advice too!
Thank you!
