Combining position 1 of minor pentatonic with position 1 of major pentatonic blew my mind for some reason. I always thought of it as playing one or the other. Def a lightbulb moment for me, Corey! Thank you! 🙏🏽
I've been playing for nearly 20 years (I should be way better) and your channel is really motivating me to go back to basics and switch up my playing/ give me a proper order to what I need to learn which is think is often overlooked. I have improved so much in the last week and playing blues is fun again!! thanks!!
I have always struggled combining the two and after this lesson I think I may have finally figured it out. Thank you Corey! Hands down one of the best youtube guitar teachers.
Just broke my wrist today while skating with my third daughter...cannot play guitar, my mind is in minor mode..but, watching Corey makes my evening , here in France, in a fresh and MAJOR HAPPY MODE ! Thanks a lot Corey for sharing all those awesome lesson and secrets ! Your are the best 🥰👍 ! Kindest regards from France. Bélo
been playing for about 2 years now and you have literally "allowed" me to sound like I've been playing for 7 years! you're a great teacher brother Corey 🙏 🙏
Wicked lesson mate. You have a great knack for imparting concise musical knowledge that is immediately practical. That first 2 chorus jam I could just not get out of my head till I transcribed it and learnt to play it; just finished...now some polishing 😎. Shows just how much rhythm and phrasing is king, and you've got oodles of that comin out in this jam man. Awesome work.
Before being a Professional guitar player Corey, you were a beginner, intermadiate until the holy graal : a Pro !! That's why you know all the questioning, hesitations, failures, mistakes in knowlegde and understanding; and that's why you can answer to all theses questions so well ! You really are THE MAN Corey ! You inspire me, give me motivation to go ahead. Thanks for all ;-)
Dear Corey, I really like your teachning and love your playing. I am fan and also bought several of your TrueFire modules. This is a great video, which just open my mind on my Blues playing. I was stucked in minor, but will now follow your advice. This is a great day for me. Thank you so much :)
I loved the demonstration of which scale over which chord and which note to start a lick on. What a great reminder. Thanks again, Corey. Great jam track, too.
So I started electric guitar late in life and have spent the last 2.5 years focusing on theory. THIS LESSON will be my holy grail!! This is what I’m striving for to be a happy at home player. Thanks Corey. Your channel is the one I will have ALL NOTIFICATIONS on my settings.
I was going to write something disparaging like "Oh, great! Yet another pentatonic demonstration - like we haven't already got a million of those on RUclips already!" But I decided to stick with it, and I'm glad I did, because the way that you mix up the major and minor pentatonics is an interesting slant. Thanks for doing something different to the the rest (of the million pentatonic demos).
Finally, someone to explain it without going into all five positions or you having to wail away on your own existential expertise like so many other online instructors do, while I'm still trying to hear the differences that you showed really well!! You did a GREAT job that hit home with me and where I'm at with playing guitar... Thank you So Much!!!!!
I was trying to show my mate thats how blues players played.how you go to second fret and them five notes from second position he wouldn't use them cause he couldnt see it in ya head.im a zeppelin fan so .know abit and peter green
Thanks Corey ! Think I finally got round to practically grasping the idea of mixing Major and Minor having read about it before. Good explanations at a good pace..👍🏼👍🏼
At the 11:02 mark, that is a bend & vibrato par excellence! As in mega bluesy and one that takes years to perfect. And raking the strings to the target note. That lick was the highlight of the video for me. The major minor mix is an important thing to learn. Great video!
I've seen this, and done it myself for a while, but hard to get to sound quite as sweet as you make it sound. I think it's changing major to minor and back again on the chord changes that makes the difference...great video, thanks!
WOW ! What a lesson. You made me look in to playing my three chords all on the fifth fret, and solo all in that one position. Then I started changing to all minor scales as to each chord change. The same with the major scales following each chord. Combined all that together and WOW,a whole new world, the light shines a little brighter. Thanks again Corey!!!
Great explanations and teaching, thank you for these lessons. You make things clearer to me than most other instructors can offer. I did like the "calling out" of the major or minor while playing- super helpful to see and hear simultaneously.
Love love LOVE this kind of more beginner based lesson! Thanks, Corey, you make a difficult topic seem so much easier :P Time to grab my guitar and try this stuff!
On the road today - Nashville bound - but always have time to drop in and check out what Corey’s layin’ down. Love these lessons! Keep ‘em comin’, Corey! ✌️
I can't understand exactly what you're explaining. (Korean) But I try to take your lessons as often as possible. It really works. You are the best teacher for me. Really appreciate of you.
I really enjoy your teaching style. Thanks for a cool lesson. Yes it is a simple thing been doing for years but never thought of it like this. You can get good at flubbing around and just making it all fit, especially if you have learned a bunch of licks from great players that are already doing this, but it is refreshing to actually separate what is happening. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic.. your playing through the changes and calling out the scales was really helpful and inspiring. You made it look so easy and clean but I know there is some serious practice ahead. Your teaching and playing style was easy, clear and engaging ... thanks, a lot learned in this video...
Corey, I watched and discovered you through Tim Piercer’s YT channel and you have no idea how happy I am when I subscribed your channel. Love the way you teach and your playing is superb! Man, you can play so damn good. Keep doing this! I’m a huge fan and hope you’re doing great in your life. Thanks
very good lesson and here's why, even knowing the pent.scales inside/out, I now have a clearer picture of what to use on what chord and why.. look forwards to learning more.. Thanks
This is a great lesson! Great walk through of what your plan is, seeing you execute that plan, and then breaking it down as you played. Well done Corey! Thank you for breaking this down in this form. I Have really enjoyed your lessons the last few weeks.
Over head projector. :-) That's great. Now we have "smart boards", but we are all still playing the blues dating back to the 40's if not earlier. Another great lesson Corey!
I always find it hard to make Major sound "bluesy". It has a different feel to it that is very obvious in a way. But hearing you use it I got the impression that the way you phrase it is vital to make it work; and also blending it with the minor sound is a nice way to make it work for the overall effect of the sound in a song.

Really nice teaching! Learned some nice stuff! Definitely a follower now!
I've been playing 40 years and I have to honestly say that was the best demonstration of mixing up Maj / Min hands down 👍
Glad to hear it!
I have to agree, I have here been playing since 85; he has a good way of teaching without playing super-simple licks
Agree! Heard the maj/min for years. Demonstrations sound great but this is the first time I have been able to follow along a do it myself. Thx much.
Dude ...when u started "calling out" your thought process at 13:00 mins, I was like"OOOOOOHHHHHHHHH, I GET IT NOW !!!!" totally a lightbulb moment.
This guy is such a good teacher.
dude you're the best teacher I've ever come across on RUclips, and I've watched ALOT of guitar videos!
Combining position 1 of minor pentatonic with position 1 of major pentatonic blew my mind for some reason. I always thought of it as playing one or the other. Def a lightbulb moment for me, Corey! Thank you! 🙏🏽

Wow thx!
I find the way you call out as you play so valuable in your teaching method,
Happy to hear that!
I've never got mixing major and minor until this lesson. You broke it down in a way that was finally easy for me to hear and understand.
That’s great to hear!

Fantastic!
Same here. Quality teaching!
I've always done this by ear and it's worked, but I had no idea why until your, and your colleagues, instruction this past year. Thank you!
My pleasure, Sam!
Finally someone explains how this works in fantastic detail, thanks so much!

Simplifying a concept that, when learned, brings great satisfaction to players of all levels. Genius!!!
Helpful when you call out what you’ve changed to over the progression. 👍🏻👍🏻
That maj on I, minor on IV etc approach is a bit of gold. Thanks.
Another great lesson @coreycongilio ! Much appreciated!
